  1. Posting a 6A football job where the HFC has to teach 2 classes is guaranteed to .. well .. just exactly how good of a coach (experienced winner) are they expecting to get? I'm sure coaches from all over the state will be lined up to run a 6A football program and a grade book all at the same time.. (eyes rolled) Come on LaPorte.. try not to SeTx so hard.
  2. I think he meant Anahuac, KV, and Hardin are bottom 3. Kountze and Warren being evenly matched for the 4th spot.
  3. It would be moved. Happens pretty often.. teams like Canadian are often going into the state basketball tournament with a 15-0 record (or something like that).
  4. If Newton doesn't have a better offensive strategy than what was displayed against EB then they might be unpleasantly surprised this week. "Get the ball to the athlete" and out athlete everybody may have worked for pretty much all season but I don't know if that's enough anymore.
  5. Well that just can’t be true. Not only do they have more kids to choose from... but I’m sure they had home field advantage. Surely you’re mistaken.
  6. They already do. People that move to the area for work with kids... look at options for sending their kids to school. Baytown? Lol
  7. I don't think any of them played for Joubert though. Maybe the youngest...I don't know what years they went through.
  8. If we used your logic, then why doesn't Allen win the state championship every single year..in every single sport. Also, why doesn't the school with the biggest enrollment win it all in every classification...in every sport...every single year. Above I showed you where a school tied for second with 2500 fewer kids than the school that went 0-7. That's one single example of literally more than is worth mentioning. You know as well as I do that I know the reason we have divisions. Once it gets to a certain number, however, it really doesn't matter much. That's proven. Allen is the biggest school in the state but is only relatively dominant in one sport. If numbers matter as much as you're implying then that wouldn't be the case. It's just an excuse.
  9. This discussion has been had before. 2nd biggest school in the district (5,654 kids) finished dead last. Your point is invalid. Here are their district enrollments and their district standing: District 9 6664 Allen - 7-0 5342.5 Plano East - 5-2 2975 Prosper - 5-2 2969 McKinney - 4-3 5197.5 Plano - 4-3 2834 McKinney Boyd - 2-5 2234 Dallas Jesuit - 1-6 5654 Plano West - 0-7
  10. The problem is that at a place like Kountze..where basketball is numero uno.. that's not what's considered the sign of a great coach. Winning is. I honestly feel bad for Coach Joubert because I'm sure he's catching some ridicule that isn't deserved. Because according to the mob.. winning is what matters. There is no asterisk for bad players or good opponents.
  11. Sometimes you can get 110% potential out of a kid...and they still max out as a below average player. If you take a really bad player and improve them to a ...not so bad player. They still won't be good enough to beat people.
  12. The name of this thread is very misleading.. and a little unnecessary. Are you just finding this out or something?.. Of course, this happens at a mass pace all over the state. That is part of the reason schools build state of the art facilities. To draw kids. If you think this is a new concept then you are unfortunately ignorant or extremely naive on the matter. Apartment complexes make it possible for this to happen as early as when the starters will be announced in the first game. Check said kid out of school, move to apt complex down the road (different school), and wait your 15 days. Boom. Nothing anyone can do about it. I have a kid friend that coaches in the DFW Metroplex. He told me "If you aren't doing something to get kids from another area, then you're not only losing but also losing your own kids to a different area." And I find this outrageously ironic that this thread was started by someone from East Chambers. LOL! As mentioned above...look at your backfield.
  13. Have the kids at Kountze not been under the tutelage of the current varsity coach since they started athletics? That not enough time to "develop" a player? Or is it possible that they just aren't very good?
  14. I had to do some digging.. but how about: Ashton Hall C.J. Busby Devin Bray Roman Walker Laramie Lynn Grayland Arnold TJ Stanford Not all D1 basketball players but a few D1 athletes and mostly college basketball players. I'm pretty certain I'm missing some as I didn't know or remember a few on this list as it is. How many schools the size of Kountze have never had a basketball player that is the caliber player as the names I mentioned above?
  15. I personally think that people shouldn't be allowed to run for school board if they have a child in school. At least a child old enough for any extracurricular activity (excluding UIL academics). Decisions made are all too often made in a biased manner toward their own children.. which may or may not have a positive impact on the other thousands of kids in the school district.
  16. I know that. I was saying that I'm not saying he's not a top tier coach...but how come a top tier coach has the record that he has? I was just reiterating the point that even a top tier coach need players or they can't win either. Almost makes one wonder who else could have been considered a top tier coach had they had the talent that some seem to get on a regular basis.
  17. I'm not arguing with you.. and I'm not defending this coach in particular. I'm just saying that there's a lot more that makes a coach "good or bad" than their record. Sometimes coaches/programs become stagnant and it's time to bring in fresh ideas and new energy. Sometimes a coach is doing any and everything that a coach could possibly do but gets ran off despite that because of a losing record. Football is all about numbers.. how many players suited out at Ozen during those 5 win seasons compared to their district foes. If comparable.. did Ozen have the team to beat PNG, Nederland, Central, etc..? A few of those schools I just mentioned were pretty dang good. I'm just saying record may only be a fraction to do with it. I don't know.. if you don't think so. Keep expressing your concerns. Maybe it'll be acted on somehow.
  18. I'm not saying he's not.. but can he win with bad / below average teams? There's no question he's had success but look at the players he had when he had that kind of success. Lot of D1 athletes come to mind. This brings us back to the point I make all of the time. Even good coaches can't win without good players...case in point. What's Kountze's record?
  19. 1. San Augustine 2. Silsbee 3. Newton 4. Galena Park North Shore 5. Austin Westlake 6. Allen 7. Longview 8. Alvin Shadow Creek 9. Denton Ryan 10. Fort Bend Marshall 11. Aledo 12. Pleasant Grove 13. Carthage 14. Waco La Vega 15. Grandview 16 Malakoff 17. Gunter 18. San Saba 19. Mart 20. Albany
  20. There are several examples that you could find. Just like there are several examples of coaches who have won titles and then never even come close afterward. Here..let's start with a coach that everyone knows. Tom Westerberg won 4 state titles in the highest classification in the state. When is he going to win one at Barbers Hill? When will he win a district championship? Playoff game? 4 different times he was selected as the 5A/6A Coach of the Year. Is he a worse coach now than he was 5 years ago? I certainly don't think so. Or is it because he had Kyler Murray behind the center?
  21. Unfortunately..that is the common misconception. I personally think that some of the best coaches in the state have never won a championship. I also think that there are several not so good coaches that have won one or multiple. But yes I know how coaches are judged.
  22. All dynasties eventually fall. Some stay on top longer than others, but they all end sometime. The more success you have the more others will try to duplicate what you do. The more that happens the higher the likelihood of one of them replacing you.
  23. Looks to me like the pool dried up a bit. Not to keep bringing it up... but maybe some folks on here will finally start seeing my point that even good coaches can't win without good players. No matter what is "built" or whatever. Not too long ago Coach Joubert was among the premier coaches in the area/state. He a worse coach now than he was a few years ago? Well I hardly believe that.
