  1. Sometimes we make Texas toast when we grill steaks. It's pretty good.
  2. I'm no longer surprised...nor do I care what California does. As far as I'm concerned they don't represent the rest of the country in any way. The Cali conservatives need to get out of there before it's too late.
  3. I thought that's what you meant I just wanted to double check. But yes I'll put trust in the college football programs that they've gotten an offer from that they were chosen, for a reason, out of the kids in the area.
  4. ALL of those kids?.. I'm talking starters. Or are you referring to the kids at Newton with D1 offers? Because that's easy to compare. Yes if they have a D1 offer and no other kid at their position does then they would start over them. But if you're talking about the other kids at Newton that just happen to be starters then we'll definitely have to agree to disagree.
  5. It seems as though people are overlooking the fact that most of the schools in the area don't win just a whole lot (that would play this game to start with). Why would they play Newton or WOS when the coach is just trying to get some wins..or at least play a halfway competitive game that they might be able to learn from. I can understand why Newton and WOS have trouble filling games every now and then...I also understand why they wouldn't want to play each other every once in a while. It's a difference of 2 classifications and that normally isn't a very normal thing in HS football/baseball. When they're both really good (and let's be honest...coaches know when their team is better/worse than normal) then I would think they both wanna play up in class/competition. When Newton is really good they should want to play up...same thing with WOS. I don't know..none of this really matters anyway. How the coach tries to make a schedule has a rhyme and reason in their eyes and that's a decision they're paid to make.
  6. Breaking: WOS hires lawyer Phil Belichick to fight eligibility appeal. Phil has never lost a player eligibility case in 30+ years. Not only will WOS be given their wins back..they also have the option of picking their district seeding come playoff time. Great job Phil on another huge victory.
  7. I'm going against my preseason prediction of these 2 splitting and winning their games at home. I think EC takes this game as well. Probably by 10+. Kountze seems to be worse off then just their typical down year. Might be time for Coach Joubert to search for greener pastures.
  8. Newton was far and away the best team in 3A D2. No question about it. Could they have won it all in the next class up? We'll never know. Here's what we do know...the last time Newton was in that upper classification they didn't make it out of the region. Is this Newton team better than those other Newton teams? Maybe. Probably. But we'll never know. And just because a team could beat the state champ in the next classification up doesn't mean they could win the state title in that class. Anything can happen in 1 game...but the road to the title is completely different for each classification. It speaks volumes not even having a competitive game until about round 4. I'm sure every team could perform better at JerryWorld if all of their kids were fresh when they got there.
  9. THAT is what you took away from my post? Barely worth a reply...but if you must know. I don’t coach. But I also DO NOT bash those who do. Because if I thought I could/would do a better job then I would do so. I will not let a negative comment about a coach go on this site without giving a smart remark. If you didn’t know that then feel free to ask any of the posters on this site. And by the way..what post can you quote of me ever implying that I was the “KNOW IT ALL regarding all things coaching”? Well you won’t find any. But go ahead..have fun looking. Keyboard warrior. Good luck in your game next Saturday morning.
  10. Gotta get wins when they can. Or at least try..
  11. Would've been worth the price of admission for sure.
  12. There's something to be said about using a different 11 players at different times tho. And it's not necessarily the skill kids that would make the biggest difference.
  13. And not taking anything away from Newton. Awesome team with speed and talent to spare. But Carthage was fast too...and big, and deep, etc. Football is just so much more about numbers than any other sport. And you're talking about the BEST team in a level 3 classifications higher than Newton was in. There's no doubt Newton would fight hard and probably be in a dogfight for a little bit. I just think it would eventually get away from them. If I were a betting man I'd bet on 4TD+ victory.
  14. You're right...I won't spoil it. We can all act surprised together.
  15. Want me to tell you how it's gonna turn out?.. I think I can save you some time.
  16. [Hidden Content] I agree. But why stop with words? Let's turn those words into actions. You're gonna make sure you fulfill the requirements of a bachelor's degree, first. It'll be a piece of cake. After you get that locked down you'll wanna visit the link I've attached up top ^. That'll give you step-by-step instruction on how to complete the road to being a certified teacher. Stay with me. After you do that get your resume together and start sending it to local principals and/or athletic directors. I would think that with your obvious knowledge on topics such as tackling..you should be a shoo-in for any athletic program lucky enough to have you. Ok soldier...now get out there and let's create some state championship caliber kids.
  17. No offense but I don't see much reason to go to this one..unless you're a parent. Maybe the best team in the area vs. maybe the worst team. No thanks.
  18. My opinion...you need to tap the brakes a little bit on that assumption. I think it would've been 35-7 Carthage..AT LEAST.
  19. I don't care what anyone says... There are zero excuses that'll justify any of this. Place blame wherever you want. Inexcusable.
  20. With "Over the back!".. coming in at a close 2nd. The unicorn foul. Either (A) one of the players has established rebounding position...in which case the correct call is a "Push". Or (B) neither of the players have rebounding position...in which case it's pretty much a jump ball. Meaning whichever player can get to it... gets it. As long as no physical contact is made that may have kept the other from doing so. Those 2 sayings literally make my eyes twitch.
  21. I'll bet you that the accountability standards have changed a little bit...I have a friend whose wife is a teacher. According to her the submitting of grades is only the beginning. Where she works they have to submit grades, sign and check the grades, contact a parent if a kid is failing, all kinds of stuff involved in the simple process of filling in the grades for the report card. We were actually talking about this not long ago because of a question with a grandkid's report card.
  22. There are probably a whole host of people that should've noticed this failing grade and notified whoever needed to know...but I'm thinking there must be more to this than we're being led to believe. Was the player not given the grading report? 5 games worth is a long time between grades being submitted and the kid/parent/coaches finding out that the kid was failing.
  23. My most hated saying in all of the sports. If you're thinking about running to the rim as soon as the ball leaves your hand because you know you're going to miss..then the answer is no. You do not need to shoot. And yes I can make that statement...I've hit a few outside shots in my day.
