I'm not trying to seem argumentative...but I'm count this as a half truth. Especially to what's implied (I think). I'll concede to the fact that they definitely have a best player and the kid you're referring to is probably him. But being the best player on that team and being an "All-District type player" in that district doesn't necessarily make him a beast. I would bet that most..if not not all..of those players are lucky to be playing at Sabine Pass or they probably wouldn't be getting those minutes. It's sad for the kid that he won't get to finish the season but honestly.. as a school they have zero reason to attempt to field a football team. I'm surprised they aren't getting a kid or more hurt every game.

What you would probably get is 10 different 30 year old Athletic Directors. If you’re ok with that..persuade you board members and community to save 300-400k over the next 10 years.

Is that worth having an incompetent AD during that decade? Knock 30-40k on the AD salary and you’ll never have an experienced or proven head coach ever again.

Good. They have no reason to play football anyway. Other than to be a laughing stock and possibly get kids hurt. Sad news for the rest of the teams they would’ve played that were counting on that win.

Just exactly how much are you implying that teacher salaries will increase by saving 30-40K on a head football coach? You realize that school districts employ a whole bunch of teachers, right? There’s no question that education is of the utmost importance..but a school’s athletic program is usually the heartbeat of a school. Extracurricular activities are the sole reason that a huge portion of students have a reason to be their best. That includes keeping their grades up. By saying that basically slapping the athletic department in the face so that the teachers can make a few hundred dollars (literally) extra per year is really how I see the problem with priorities in most area schools. This area.

I know the numbers required. I’m thinking you missed the point..they (Sabine Pass) is and has been an embarrassment to the sport. Not sure if they’ve ever been competitive and maybe they should consider not playing football anymore while their enrollment remains in the 11 man range.

There is no reason for Sabine Pass to continue playing 11 man football. As a school.

I remember when I first became a member of this site how much of an advocate for turf fields I was. Even then. Also remember getting quite a bit of ridicule and backlash about the topic. I feel now the same way I felt then.. every school in the state that plays football should be doing everything they can to turf their field. Good luck to you robanadana. A friend of mine showed me a couple of clips off of hudle of Livingston. I was able to make a pretty accurate assessment right away I think. It's not the coaches...

I specifically remember that year 3 was gonna be the year. The year that we all got to see the difference in a bad coach and a great coach reflected by results. Playoffs by year 1 or 2, district championships and beyond by year 3. Or something like that. I remember the conversations.. Not trying to stir up anything but I have a pretty good memory still. I haven't forgotten that I don't anyway.. I don't think. Anyways. I said then and I say still it takes much more than a good coach. Have to have something to work with. That's why I always defend coaches and I'll defend this one when people start realizing that he won't live up to the stupid expectations they had a few years ago.

Isn't this the year BH should win district...and start making a legitimate run? I wish I could find some old conversations after they hired TW. Like I said all along..can't win a horse race with a donkey. Don't care how good the trainer is. Also..maybe it's not the coach. I know it's only first game but just throwing that out in advance.

Differing opinions are always welcome and appreciated. There is definitely a chance Hardin could beat Warren, KV, and Ana. I just personally believe that the district schedule is making that less and less likely by putting 2 of those games in the middle of the probable district powers. I wish them the best..just wouldn't personally bet on it. Maybe they'll surprise some people. Like you said previously..time will tell.

They will all be better players because of having to compete for their spots. It will show which kids are willing to fight and which are willing to lay down.

They were talking up the PNG QB pretty good last night on Tx high school spotlight.
