  1. That's why I said it won't happen. But technically speaking...if a student truly is transferring for academic reasons then playing a year of JV shouldn't matter. But because of rental properties and apartment complexes, the guardian of a student can literally change their permanent address every week. According to UIL, as long as the parent/guardian moves into a new school district the athlete only has to sit 15 calendar days. Impossible to know if they moved so the kid could be on a better team, or have better teachers, new job, change of scenery...or whatever. Literally impossible. As long as the box is checked "did not move for athletic purposes" then nothing can be done. However...I'd be willing to wager that a vast majority of these transfers wouldn't happen if they had to sit a year athletically from varsity competition. Meaning...they likely are transferring for athletic purposes.
  2. The only way to possibly stop it is to make every single transfer sit out 1 calendar year. No matter what. If that isn't done (and it won't be), then it will never stop.

  4. That definitely makes sense. I stand by my statement though. Rankings don't mean much.
  5. The fact Kountze is ranked goes to show that rankings mean absolutely nothing. Especially this early. Which make me question how Kountze could possibly be on there. Not like they're undefeated or anything.
  6. They graduated a lot. Including a running back that is playing D1.

  9. That one got about everyone. 1 game won't hurt you too bad.
  10. Pretty good. Missed HD/Hardin...but I think almost everyone did. Other than that I'm solid so far.
  11. Oldshool2 - "upgrade facilities, spend money on a good coaching staff, hire more coaches...that's the way to be competitive because that's what all the good teams in Texas do" ALL of setx - "we don't need any of that. We've done it this way forever. You don't know what you're talking about" I know it's game one. But it seems like a good direction so far.
  12. So can we assume that only athletes participate in sports? According to your old friend... track is not a sport. Does that also mean Usain Bolt is not an athlete? Well...he doesn't participate in a sport. According to your old friend.
  13. I think HD55 saw that I'm back....and will not post. In fear of my plethora of 4 horsemen material that may rain down.
  14. I personally think it's no question that Phelps is the more accomplished athlete. I'm a huge MJ fan. He is definitely one of if not the greatest to have ever played the game of basketball. But team sport accolades are also dependant of having a good team. During the peak of MJ's career there were 2 other Top 50 NBA all time players on his same team. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve everything he accomplished, I'm just saying team sports are different. Even during those years his team lost games. And some games he wasn't leading scorer on his own team. There are certain events that Phelps has never lost. Ever. Is MJ the best scorer of all time? Debatable. Best guard? Debatable. Best passer? No. Best ball handler? No. Won the most titles? No. Best defending guard? Debatable. Is Phelps the fastest swimmer of all time? Yes. Not debatable.
