Just looking at some interesting stats. Crosby has over 2,000 combined passing yards between Netherly and Howard in spite of the "qb issues". We have 7 receivers that average 14 yards per catch or more. The last 6 games Carlos Grace has hit his stride rushing for 803 yards and averaging right at 134 yards per game. I'm thinking if Crosby gets anything in the qb run game this is probably a track meet in Code Red's favor.

22-5A vs 21-5A bidistrict venue prediction
Cougar14.2 replied to Indianforever's topic in High School Football
Get off of it man, y'all just weren't worthy to be on the schedule. Better games were available. That's what happens when you don't have a place at the table. It's 70+ miles for some Crosby fans to Provost, ridiculous to have to play it on a Thursday. That drive can get close to two hours for some of our fans who will be getting off during rush hour, not to mention 70 miles back at 10pm with work the next morning. -
I know, I was mainly talking about the other two NC, the one guy from Porter and the dude that seems like he's from Splendora but rides NCISD.
-
DC must have ranked these off who they think will go the farthest in the playoffs. 2 loss Crosby in front of 1 loss PNG, New Caney and Porter. Not that they mean a thing but they must know it's winning time.
-
You have to excuse them man, they just showed up at the party last year.

Yeah, planner right now but probably a T/A manager by 40 or some other sort of second line. There was never a time I knew Crosby had a regular season game scheduled with Vidor, I do know the admins. didn't want our kids to have to travel to Vidor though. Which is perfectly in their power. I don't know what their reasoning was but the fact that you had to point out the two black sheriff deputies and that "We get along great with most all of the black people in our immediate area..." may be some of the reason, that can't be confirmed though. I find it extremely odd that Riordan would call up Vidor of all people and want to play, which I know he didn't. There are a lot of people in Crosby now worried about playing Vidor and it has absolutely nothing to do with stopping the slot-t, more about how we keep down the personal fouls. The sting comes from y'all sucking for so long, you should be mad at Mathews for having a sub .500 record after 16 years, not get annoyed because someone post what you consider vile but true statistics. Stats fail all the time, that's why professional gamblers who are usually the most knowledgeable stat guys consider a 60% hit rate gold. If your game with BH was an anomaly you wouldn't have gotten shut out against PNG in the second half. BH's staff was just good enough to have all the adjustments made pre-game. You're going to get crop dusted against PAM in a couple of days too, and half those guys don't even think they have a good coach. As far as getting 300+ yards, that fine. You got 322 on BH and averaged over 6ypc and still lost by 34, even though you only lost the turnover battle by 1. I'll take that all day and twice on Thursday.

I promise you the one thing that won't happen when you play Ridge Point is that you will outcoach them. Ridge Point is a defensive football team but just happens to have four star players on offense too. They'll be outnumbered heavily in the D1 playoffs but the only team I would truly favor over them in the region right now are Cy-Ranch and Katy. North Shore has made their hay playing defense for 20+ years now. This year they're only giving up 11.8ppg, but so is Taylor and they've played about equal schedules. The difference is that NS's qb leads them in rushing also, Manvel shut him down except for a couple of big runs and NS could barely move the ball with any efficiency. Under coach Kay they moved to more of a passing game and really don't grind you into the dirt like years past. Taylor's qb has 24 tds against 2 picks and his top three receivers all average over 17ypc with one of the best receivers in the country, Brennan Eagles, leading the way. They also have two legit backs to balance out the offense. Now Taylor's issue is that they can be outcoached but other than the Woodlands and Cy-Ranch there hasn't been a more consistent team from start to finish of the season than Taylor. A lot of very good teams won't make it to the third round in region 3 because of the depth, some will probably be state ranked.
-
Play a game without Cooper, Allison, Aiken and some defensive starters. That's the equivalent of what Crosby had to do that night. We saw Porter get blown out with one player missing one player, please don't think the same thing can happen to New Caney.
-
Crosby scored 34 points on Porter with backups. KP held Crosby to 26, Manvel held Crosby to 21 and Houston Heights held Crosby to 25. Porter's defense gave up 34 to Crosby, 42 to Dayton but I guess you can say "held" New Caney to 28. BH will probably put another 35+ on Porter this weekend. Porter is also giving up that many point playing slow and trying to shorten the game. If you think their defense is actually pretty good, you're probably one of the ones wondering if Porter was the best team in the state before New Caney crushed them.
-
Ridge Point will get Lamar or Cy-Ranch in the second round, if they were D2 where their enrollment should fall they walk away with the region mostly uncontested. I agree with you on Steele because they won't have to play Ridge Point who has only given up 71 points the entire season. Alief Taylor will get Dickinson in the first round. There will be a bunch of good teams that won't go far. 1-4 in Cy-Fair ISD is better than any other four in Houston, the only district with an argument is 24-6A with Dickinson, Clear Springs, Clear Creek and Friendswood. Check Cy-Fair ISD's resume, every now and then the Spring or Klein district is tougher but 10 high schools with 3,000+ students and resources is hard to compete with. I watched Manvel basically dominate North Shore, NS is the squad that has benefitted from playing in an extremely weak district a down Westfield and Atascocita this year. I promise you when they were 1-3 last year nobody was talking titles on this side of town. North Shore is very good but Taylor looks a lot better than NS did going into the season finale last year and will probably meet in the second round this year. Overall the teams in R3 6A-D1 have combined for about a dozen state title game appearances in last decade so, every game after bi-district will be regional final quality..
-
New Caney has the second most talent in the district and will finish in second place, NC played and coached to their talent level. David Harvey transferred in and signed with Nevada last year, Allison has a D1 offer and will get more as the lower tier FBS schools start to fill their classes. Jordan Cooper will throw for over 2,000 and rush for over 1,000 as a junior, he'll get offers during the Spring evaluation period as an athlete if nothing else. Shane Carney from Porter also has an FBS offer and will probably pick up a couple of more before signing day. Your ANY comment is absolutely wrong and leads me to believe you don't know what you're talking about.
-
New Caney's stud qb transferred from Caney Creek, their stud receiver transferred from Kingwood Park and their stud rb transferred from St. Pius X. How is that doing more with less? New Caney is known to get tight when the lights get brightest and this game is for Riordan's 50th career win at Crosby. Crosby was in this same situation last year against CE King and won by 37.
-
They'll beat whoever they play from 22-5A in the first round but lose to Manvel in the second round. That's the type matchup you get from that playoff position in the second round, usually the champion from the Fort Bend/Brazoria district which Manvel is this year. The second round games for our bi-district position in recent alignments are often harder than the third.
-
I'll put it like this. Our season ended last year against Ridge Point and started this year against Manvel who I watched beat North Shore the week after they played us earlier this year. From 1-22 Ridge Point is probably even more athletic than Manvel even though Manvel has a couple higher rated recruits. Not only have they recently played for a state title, Cy-Ranch plays in the Cy-Fair district which is from top to bottom the toughest district in Houston on average. If Taylor played North Shore right now they're probably a 7 point favorite at a neutral site. They're in a district with George Ranch, Pearland and Dawson and undefeated so far. Usually one of the most talented teams in Houston along with Westfield, NS and Lamar. Any of those teams can lose to Clear Springs, Dickinson, Lamar, Cy-Fair and about four other teams in the region though. I think Allen is out after the quarterfinals.

22-5A vs 21-5A bidistrict venue prediction

Now see, I'm being condescending if I say that. I actually use stats to show deprivation. -
Desoto is going D2 and will most likely back stroke through the playoffs until they play Cibolo Steele for the state title. As far as 6A being deep, it's probably the deepest in Houston for a change. Klein Collins, Cy-Ranch, Katy, Ridge Point, Alief Taylor, The Woodlands and North Shore are all state championship quality. Don't be surprised if San Angelo Central or Duncanville knock off Allen in region 1.

Either Central or Nederland is getting into the playoffs, neither effect PNG's seeding. Basically the only way Livingston has a chance to get in is if Central loses to Lee. -
You have to take Westlake vs Vandy score with a grain of salt though, Same Ehlinger is one of the highest rated qbs in the country and didn't play in that game and is out for the season. Vandy also doesn't have 6000+ career yard rusher Travis Brannan anymore. Westlake wasn't the same team that beat Katy, more like the one that lost to Lake Travis 49-7 the game Ehlinger went down. Connally has been playing well but they're a lot like Porter, 8-22 the prior three seasons but have improved and beat some people. CP's most impressive district win so far has been shutting out Rouse who dropped 60 on a GT team CP beat 41-20. CP's defense is dominant but this year they lack some of the personnel of years past on both sides of the ball which is I think they would be beaten by several team they're ranked ahead of this year.

Cougar14.2 replied to Indianforever's topic in High School Football
Yeah, but at the end of the day the two best teams you played you lost to a combined 81-28. The opposing qbs only had 8 combined incompletions against y'all too. Can't throw can't throw it and can't cover it, or really stop the run against balanced teams. Vidor's best defense is just holding on to the ball on offense. -
Kind of what I was thinking. I think we can get an easy 40 if we get good qb play, if not I think we're going to be in a tight game.
-
This year I don't think Cedar Park would beat Denton Ryan, Lancaster, Frisco Lone Star or Foster. I think they would also struggle with College Station after seeing them beat Temple this weekend. You would never have to worry about them playing that potential game at the Butch though, UT, A&M, Baylor, Alamodome and NRG are all more sought after venues that time of year.

22-5A vs 21-5A bidistrict venue prediction
Cougar14.2 replied to Indianforever's topic in High School Football
Splendora's qb has 600 yards passing and the Chronicle has Vidor's qb with 140 passing yards on the season minus a couple of games with no stats I'm sure wouldn't add much to that total. Games against BH and PNG when you were down and passing could've helped Quirante went a combined 1-4 for 14 yards and a pick. Y'all have both been blown multiple times when throwing the ball could've been effective. -
Porter beat Crosby and Dayton throwing the ball to #2 Carney. He had 17 catches for 445 yards and 5 tds combined in those two games. He played against New Caney, #6 is the one that didn't. I never though Porter was very good because their makeup was so fragile, they have to throw the ball down the field at a high completion percentage to be effective. They can't run the ball and their defense isn't very good, reminds me a lot of Holley's Kingwood Park teams that were good with Henderson but would get blown out with just one player missing. I agree with everything else you said though, I think BH blows Porter out. Especially if the kid opposite Carney doesn't play again this week.

It also gives Vidor one less day to heal after being beat up by a bigger, stronger and faster PAM team. PAM has seen that offense and is about to blow Vidor out. Crosby has already played Splendora who runs the same offense and held them to 12 points. They have their own 1000+ yard back and throw it better than Vidor does out of that offense too. BH had never played against that offense either and all Vidor could manage was 6 points on them, Splendora scored 7 on BH.
