  1. Dang, walking around work you really can't tell who won Friday. Dayton fans shrugging it off and accepting the fact they probably won't make the dance this year while BH fans keep talking about how disappointed they are about how bad they played. I have to keep reminding my BH buddies that they really did suck the last few years and have to keep reminding my Dayton buddies that this is the guy they asked for. *PS - One of the Dayton guys asked if I thought they could take Porter's coach away from them. It's funny but it's really not at the same time.
  2. Since they already beat Crosby, Porter is at a point in the season where they just need to finish 2-3 down the stretch for a 5-3 district record. Since it's their first year under a new head coach you would think they continue to improve over the last half of the season and accomplish that goal. Much like I thought the BH vs Dayton score would be similar to the NC vs Dayton score, this could be another three TD win if Porter plays clean football. Porter may not be the best team Dayton has played but I think the coaching difference will be the most noticeable in this one and thus Porter will be harder to beat. Porter can actually beat you with their players too, not just scheme. Porter can lose to Dayton, BH and NC and still go to the playoffs with a 5-3 record as long as they beat Humble and Splendora. They're technically still not at the point where they have to win out but since they lost to BH already, a loss to Porter ends any realistic playoff shot for Dayton.
  3. I remember that game when we had the Twins, they didn't play past the first quarter. It just happened to be 35-0, Porter gave up the other 35 to second and third stringers. That happened a lot that year, Austin Walter would've easily rushed for over 3,000 yards that year had he not been pulled so early because of some of those scores.
  4. I agree with it not being rebuilding but they can still score a bunch of points with that offense, especially with their personnel. Per them they've been having qb issues the last couple of years and still scored 45 and 48 on BH, you knew the slant and bubble screen was coming then too. They just can't get the ball to the playmakers anymore, I know some was BH's improved D though.
  5. Well said, exactly how I feel. I bet Crosby played 45 kids tonight, maybe because it was homecoming too. Grace probably ran for his career high tonight and Netherly could've easily ran for as many tds as he basically wanted. I think after we got the TD called back but was clear there would be no resistance Riordan kind of shut it down. Has a little '14 feel to it where you're waiting to see their best games which ended up happening in the playoffs.
  6. You do have to be bigger, stronger and faster to be a better athlete. You don't have to be those things to be a better football player though. BH is developing their players better than Dayton right now. Dayton has three FBS level athletes if they were playing on a different team.
  7. Your coach scores a lot of points on people right now to build up his team's confidence. The score looks a lot closer than the actual game was. Our coach's focus is to try to get and keep our players healthy, he's not going to run a fake punt from his own side of the field when he's up three or four tds just to widen the margin. You just don't let them score just like we only let y'all score one offensive TD.
  8. It was 19-0 at the end of the first quarter. I'm sure Crosby could've been more aggressive with the play calling to make the score look better but I think the focus is on getting through these next couple of weeks healthy and trying to peak going into the playoffs. That being said, we were still sloppy in the passing game. Defense played ok, starters gave up one TD and KP score another with 40 or 50 seconds left in the game on the backups.
  9. With undefeated Porter up next and Crosby to follow. Might be 2-6 in a couple of weeks. To their credit you have to go back 20+ years to find a record like that.
  10. We just have to disagree then. Langelier is BH's best athlete but he's small. BH doesn't have a kid that can hold a candle to Mcquirter athletically and none of their kids can man up DeRouen, they should have Keener-like numbers. Throw in Styner and Gaines plus some other kids I don't know the name of and you see why I disagree. Dayton just can't maximize their ability like Stew and Hancock used to do plus they still get outcoached defensively. Dayton has better athletes than Porter too but you'll probably think the same thing you think about BH because Jim Holley will be coaching the team taking advantages of all Dayton's deficiencies like Westeberg did tonight.
  11. Good win BH. Figured it would look like this. Just not the same Dayton team under the new staff.
  12. I actually think the boudin is pretty good, it's the tortilla it's wrapped in that throws my taste buds off. Only in BH.
  13. New Caney is good but I think they're going to have to score well into the 40's or more to beat BH, Crosby and maybe even Porter. Splendora got 15 points off turnovers but they could've also had at least 15 more if they could complete forward passes with any efficiency.
  14. Teams that run shotgun seem to always fumble when trying to go under center. Tough to lose a fumble trying to take a knee right before half.
  15. Really doesn't matter, Chavez and South Houston still have to play 6A. North Shore is over 66% Hispanic and just won the 6A-D1 title. At the end of the day a bigger enrollment in the larger classifications means more opportunities for good players regardless of demographics. The smaller the enrollment the more demographics effect the makeup/strength of your football team.
  16. You're forgiven. My Dad always told me it's better to let somebody think you don't know something than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
  17. I'm sure you have a lot nicer decorations than I do though.
  18. That's what we normally have too but my workgroup runs a software program that requires us to use a 30" screens as the main display. I think I was supposed to turn the other one back in to IT but my boss never said anything so now it's basically dedicated to SETX or streaming MSNBC during the day.
  19. Will Langelier be able to go tomorrow and if so how healthy will he be? If he's hobbled or can't go its probably a 14-20 point deduction of BH's final score. Kid is nasty in the return game and BH's most dynamic weapon on offense. Single-handedly kept BH in the game with Crosby for a while with his big play ability.
  20. I didn't realize they had basements in this part of Texas with the water table being so high? Either I don't have a job or I have a real good one that allows me to have three computer screens on my desk. One screen for emails, one screen for work and one with SETXsports, Maxpreps, Chron.com and whatever else I need spilt into quartiles. I'll let you decide which one it is. Maybe you should get a better job you don't have to post from your phone all the time? I know you only have four posts but what you'll find out about this site is the less you know the more annoyed you get.
  21. Dang man, they're averaging 53 points per game and giving up 10.5 points per game in all their contest besides Crosby. Whatever you may think of their strength of schedule they've absolutely destroyed all the teams they're supposed to. Including a Vidor squad who beat the Ned team you guys struggled with and could've lost to. Don't get me wrong, BH is still BH right now and if you punch them in the mouth they have a hard time responding but to say they're terrible is to take an even bigger shot at Dayton with the state they're in right now.
  22. The one thing I think that is hindering Dayton's offense more than anything is the play from the qb position. What each of the kids does it too predictable and easy to stop a lot of the time. #4 isn't a running threat and looked like he was on the verge of getting put out of the game against NC due to his small stature, and #8 isn't a passing threat limits Dayton's best position group which is their receivers. Dayton is going to have to manufacture points against BH with good special teams play and turnovers, even though Dayton has the better athletes I don't think their staff will be able to out-scheme BH's. BH fans at my job are nervous though, saying Dayton is "due". By far the most meaningful game in the district to date.
  23. Vidor is 77-95 under Mathews the 17 years before the season started. In those 17 years he does have one career bi-district win against Crosby. Of all the coaches I looked at in this classification he has the lowest win percentage of any to coach 100 or more games at said school. Long way from Gary Joseph, or for that matter Fairclothe. Hard to really find stats on a program that's not recognized.
  24. How does it feel to be exposed for voting your team above BH even though they have the same record and beat you by 5 tds in your own house? I never did to start with but now other people won't take you seriously. Vidor gonna' Vidor though.
  25. Every team we played so far tried to run the ball against us except Porter. I would put the number close to 125 rushing attempts to gain those 350 yards. Quite a bit more rushing attempts against us than pass attempts. Port Lavaca runs the same offense as Vidor does and runs it a heck of a lot better and with more talent, their fans said the same thing about their "smash-mouth" style against Crosby. It was 30-0 at halftime and Crosby ended up beating them worse than any team that year even though they were in a district with Angleton, George Ranch and Foster. You guys just struggled with Nederland and they didn't even use their ineligible player against y'all. As far as Porter, it was only a matter of time before things fell into place for them. They have the largest and nicest school in the district, they play in the best facility in the district and now they have a coach who when at KP was beating state ranked CE King. After finishing 4th that year he also beat district champ Ned in the first round. He caught Crosby going through some stuff and made us pay just like he did King for looking past them, a King squad whose qb went to Tulane and whose rb is leading A&M in rushing as a true freshman. Now he has better players instead of just having one stud like Jaylen Henderson. The main goal at the beginning of the season was for Crosby to find a way into the D2 playoffs, a loss to Porter has done that.
