  1. 41-26 NC. Not sure why they went for two again.
  2. 35-26 New Caney, defense at a premium in this one.
  3. 35-7 New Caney. 11 mins left in second quarter. For whatever reason New Caney just chose to go for two.
  4. Same thing would be happening in New Caney's stadium. Dayton just outmanned tonight.
  5. 27-7 New Caney. Little over 3 mins left in first.
  6. 20-7 New Caney. Still almost 8 mins in 1st
  7. 14-7 New Caney. New Caney two tds on two plays from scrimmage.
  8. You're probably watching the JV film if you don't think New Caney looks good, and it looks easy. Tomball Memorial beat them but will probably compete for their district's title along with Brenham and Magnolia. I watched the Dayton vs Humble game Monday and I would be kind of surprised if Dayton stayed with two tds of New Caney. Good win against Humble but New Caney is a step execution, coaching and motivation wise. *PS - Nations called Porter Splendora's little brother. Besides the fact that Porter has 700 more kids than Splendora and a better coach it will be interesting to see what he says after the game.
  9. Man, in D1 I think there's Manvel then there's everyone else. Foster is good but their a weird good like Angleton is, I don't think they could really hang with Manvel if they get by Angleton in a probable regional final matchup. Manvel is playing like this and their offense isn't even what it's going to be later, even though their qb is the coach's son he's still only making his first starts of his career. If their defense keeps playing the way it is by game 10 or 12 they'll dang near be unstoppable. Interested to see how well FB Marshall can play them in district.
  10. I imagine the same rules to apply to punts as field goals and xps. The kicking team can recover a blocked fg or xp and advance it for a 2pt conversion, first down or a touchdown as long as it doesn't cross the line of scrimmage. Pretty general rule that would also cover forward passes in the direction of eligible receivers as long as the ball doesn't touch the ground.
  11. You can't count Dayton out but I think my predictions on matchups right now would be: New Caney vs Nederland Porter vs PA Memorial Crosby vs Vidor/Png loser Barbers Hill vs Vidor/PNG winner
  12. In the initial release of the FNF magazine they had us going D1 and losing to Manvel in the second round. Any predictions of us going to the D2 playoffs is great news for Crosby fans. In D2 judging from early contest I think the hardest game before a regional final would be the second round matchup with FB Marshall or Texas City even though I'm not sure Texas City can consistently score. Crosby getting the D2 #1 seed from 21-5A also puts us on the other side of the bracket from College Station and Brenham who both look nice this year but would have to play each other in the second round.
  13. April, I know the specifics of football aren't your strong suit but I can almost promise you you're going to wish Crosby didn't lose that game at the end of the season.
  14. They were 9th. Kids have something to fight back to now, instead of trying to crank up the intensity for a game or two before the playoffs start. Riordan didn't even make them practice today so I think this is his version of the calm before the storm
  15. I know it's been tough on Riordan who is still a rather young guy himself, especially after Coach Thompson's brother was killed in the Dallas police shootings. I also think Riordan is the perfect guy to handle the situation for a multitude of reasons. Hopefully nothing that has happened will effect his future willingness to stay at Crosby as different opportunities arise. People from different cultures will never agree on this type of stuff, just like people can't agree on a presidential candidate. I think all the events of the prior week, culminating in a loss on the football field will bring us together. Just like all the recent wins have. *Mods, can we lock this thread and just talk about Crosby losing to Porter for the next two weeks? Much more light-hearted to talk about film than flags.
  16. You don't have a lot of post but I agree with 50% of everything you've ever said, lol. Crosby basically has a month to get ready for a stretch run of the last four games of the season as long as we don't disrespect KP and Caney Creek. Just looking forward to when our focus is 100% back on football instead of making ABC news.
  17. I remember one year I want to say Katy lost like 50-0 to the Woodlands and lost to Cinco Ranch in district and still crushed everybody in the playoffs on the way to a state championship. It's going to be very tough for them in D1 in the region though.
  18. What game did you watch Neherly that you weren't impressed? Williams had 9 carries for 133 last week on BH who is playing good defense this year. I understand where you're trying to go but be for real man. Nobody is whining, Porter was more prepared to play and won the football game. Youre right about #2, he had 12 catches for 260 and I doubt Crosby even knew who he was before the game.
  19. Lol, six games from now it will probably be hard to find sarcasm in this post. Especially if it's the reason Crosby goes division two.
  20. Not hating, that's a good assessment. I feel pretty much the same except I think we could beat CP this year if we play to the best of our capabilities. I would favor CS over us right now too, based off the defensive performance. Crosby had a very good defense in '14 but was pushed to OT by Dayton when Baughmann and Keener hooked up for about 200. Seems to be a yearly trend for Crosby but the defense always recovers.
  21. When Crosby has been full strength this year we've looked exactly like we're supposed to. Porter caught Crosby in a perfect storm with two SEC caliber players missing in the backfield, Crosby playing off a short week with Porter having the previous bye and as you can see a team that wasn't totally focused on playing football. The kids that sat out will have had about 20 days to get better, so will people's feelings so we should be good. As far as the game, Porter was just more ready to play. Jim Holley's teams always seem to give Crosby trouble, now he has a good qb that's four year starter and can actually throw plus a solid 6-3 receiver on the outside to make plays for him. Porter had the advantage of being able to deviate from film because they only had one game tape against Brazozport where Holley didn't have to show anything, Crosby couldn't figure out their defensive keys and Hall/Carney converted a bunch of 3rd and 15+ just like Ware/Harvey did when we went to OT with New Caney last year. Losses never help in the literal sense but realistically any win for a larger school in the district is helpful for Crosby. Crosby needs teams to push them D2, it was supposed to be New Caney and KP but if Porter takes that spot then fine. At the end of the day the goal is to get I of the D2 playoffs and avoid Manvel, Temple and Cedar Park in the region. Like I already highlighted, the year Cedar Park beat us in the semis they started off 2-2 with a loss to Aledo in the opener and were then shutout 23-0 by 3-7 Dripping Springs in the fourth game of the season to start district play. Even a squad like that couldn't overcome some of the issues they had at that point in the season. Crosby will be more than fine, for the first time in five years they just didn't prepare for a team like they should have.
  22. I don't think Renner or Tepper went to Aledo like they supposedly did. They did get to the Porter upset of Crosby as one of the biggest stories in the state rather quickly though. Glad the players got to see that but it's not like they'll be lacking motivation. Probably also saw the national and local stories about high school players kneeling too though. Hopefully we can just prioritize in two weeks against KP.
  23. I think it will cause the players as well as some in the community to prioritize. Other than the Dayton game and the Summer Creek/CE King games, boredom is exactly the way I would describe the regular season the last four years. Now there can be a focus on improving rather than starting out gangbusters like the last few years and trying to maintain that high level of play throughout the season. Good luck to you guys too.
