  1. I'm not sure I've heard a Crosby fan talking about winning the district in over a decade? Not that we don't want to but it's kind of the lowest form of accomplishment(to us) outside of finishing 4th in the district. Two of the last three times Crosby went to the semifinals we didn't even win the district outright. PNG is in a different situation than Crosby, it's a more ready made situation to win there. Crosby hired a guy based on what he did a decade ago at a school that's nothing like ours. You look at the last 8 years of his record and probably not too many people are excited about getting a guy that's 54-42. Winning does solve everything but why not hire a guy that's winning at a school similar to yours already?
  2. Not since Kevin Flannigan left has a Crosby football coach played politics. Riordan wouldn't let some kids play defense but that wasn't politics, that was his coaching philosophy. The GCM receiver is going to start and might be asked to play both ways, he's literally been force fed the ball during 7 on 7 this offseason (games his dad and I watched together). The reason they left is more basketball related, they didn't feel Haggerty was enough of a team player and basketball was important to them so they went to GCM. The older brother isn't the level of athlete at the younger brother
  3. Spoken like someone who knows nothing about Crosby. The best that happened to Crosby was hiring Jeff Riordan. It was such a night and day difference between him and Flannigan. Young ~35 year old guy that elevated our participation rates made the game/practice fun for the kids instead of the old school way Flannigan went about it that turned kids off and had nothing but core kids coming out. Prieto was 36 when we hired him and he continue that trend. Most important thing is where they came from and what they won with though. Both offensive minded coaches which went hand in hand with your personnel that the Crosby community produces. Both coached in places where the talent was in the 65%-75% percentile and beat pretty much everyone they could when the talent gap wasn't too large. The hiring party's logic is that the community was incensed about losing the coach and the safe hire was someone that could mitigate questions on her intent getting rid of Coach P.
  4. Only difference is Crosby doesn't have the Hutchins Twins(Thomas Hutchins 5A player of the year), Myles Cheatum, an NFL caliber left tackle and average about 6'3" and 285lbs across the line of scrimmage. Other than that we're just like those Cedar Park teams. Aledo didn't blast Crosby because y'all were just unbelievable at the skill positions, it was because we couldn't compete at the line of scrimmage. We still have those issues.
  5. I preferred Nick Codutti and two other before Hurts, instead we got the senior citizen
  6. Those weren't Joe Willis' schemes, those were put in place by Chris Ross who built the CP program into what it was before Willis took over in 2012 and won a title. The offenses he ran at CH and TL don't look anything like those smash mouth offenses he ran at CP. You could run that at CP because at that time they were probably the most physically imposing team in the class. That '14 team probably isn't even top 5, we just got a great draw by going D-II and ran through a bunch of Beaumont, Port Lavaca and a down Brenham. We were better in '15 but drew a powerhouse FB Ridge Point in the 2nd round I'm not at all bashing the coach, I just believe we could've done better. We have some certified thoroughbreds about to come through the program and I don't want to see them wasted on a guy standing in or someone who isn't totally engaged. Not saying Willis won't be but I feel a lot more certain other guys would've been. Ross, Willis and Abseck were great at CP because of how great CP naturally was at the line of scrimmage. CH was recruited pretty well on o-line also. Yet, you can give him an Alabama caliber RB and defensive linemen at TL and he can't get over .500 because there's not that wide gap in physicality he had at CP. I do like that fact that he's multiple in his offensive scheme though.
  7. I don't know the entire application list but I was actually floored by the quality of candidates we had. Maybe it's the $140k that I heard Ricky Tullos got offered that made the list more appealing but in her somewhat defense she used the same hiring committee process that got us Prieto. Now in actuality the way we got the last two coaches was because Dr. Moore knew Riordan from being out in East Texas and our interim supt. before this one knew Coach P from his days in Cypress ISD. With the quality of candidates it was going to be hard for her to "mess up" the hire though. Those resumes from guys with rings just took precedent over ones from coaches like the one from Fort Bend that doesn't have any but it well on his way to being an NCAA coach
  8. Very good chance we miss the party for the 2nd time in 19 years
  9. You know how critical I am of questionable stuff and I'm here to tell you I would've been 1000% Prieto starting starting his son at QB as a freshman if Eudy didn't play. Kid is an absolute stud and would've broken every passing record at the school except for maybe Kellen Haynes single season yards record. Remember that freshman QB that touched us up in the A&M Consol. game, little Prieto had that level talent.
  10. The kids that are dead set on playing football are going to play regardless. If you hire Averion Hurts, then you can pull Raelon Singleton's out of the hallway like Riordan did. It gives you immediate clout with the Summer Creek, CE King, North Shore and Baytown kids we've picked up as contributors in the recent past. Especially the quarterbacks and receivers. If you didn't like that then hire the guy out of Fort Bend. If you don't like that then hire the West Texas coach who cut his teeth in North Shore and knows how this area works. Instead of those younger guys, you go hire a retiree so you can go to the school board, which called you out for lying to them, and say "I got a coach that won a state title". Crosby ain't Colleyville and it definitely ain't Cedar Park. The kids are p.o.'d that their coach got pushed out and "now we have to play for this 2-8 guy".
  11. Yeah, and Willis didn't play him over a kid that completed 44% of his passes with 5tds and 8 ints on the season
  12. Man, if Eudy doesn't play next year we might go 4-6. Yes, the incoming freshman beat the four CE King and North Shore middle schools by an average of about 40ppg but that was with little Prieto playing QB and throwing about 40 tds. He's gone now. If Eudy doesn't play then he would've been the starter. With the other 8th grade QB transferring to BH since he wasn't going to beat out Prieto we now have no viable QBs in the entire program outside of Eudy. It sucks for the program because we were actually going to put some Crosby level talent on the field this year. The skill kids are healthy and the line of scrimmage looks like it was going to be improved over last year. If the kids don't transfer out we're going to have six WRs to choose from that are over 6' tall. The GCM transfer might be the nicest slot receiver we've had for a long while. With all the turmoil I just don't see how Crosby finishes any better than .500 though?
  13. Supt. went completely away from what was working. She made a desperation hire to keep the roof from caving in on her. Only way she knew to save face is to bring in a re-tread that people wouldn't try to remove her for. I agree though. I don't think Willis is a great fit and I think the game has passed him by to an extent. Crosby is kind of similar to TL in the sense that you have to keep kids "engaged" and he wasn't a great fit there. We had the opportunity to hire some legit needle-movers but the supt. doesn't know enough about athletics to be able to evaluate coaches and make an informed decision. Hiring a 60 year old guy kids couldn't care less about playing for is going to drop the participation rate down lower than it already is. The stuff Coach P asked for that caused the supt. to ego trip is the same stuff a new coach is going to ask for soon as he gets here. Considering her son was a star receiver here it's baffling that she doesn't have the first clue about what's needed to keep your athletic programs competitive. Since we spent $20k on a coaching search committee instead of giving Coach P that money to fix the practice fields I'm pretty sure the applicant list will never be released. We had a guy from "the" West Texas school that wanted the job badly, we had maybe the hottest young coach on the SW side of town that wanted it, we had the guy at the closest school in proximity to Crosby High interested. Instead we go with grandpa who's probably just there to take the $140k for a few years to help his retirement and not make any waves. Smh, what a **** show
  14. That was before the 5A classification split. If you go back and search I said “Splitting the classification is the best thing that could’ve happened to this area.” It’s the main reason Crosby went to state. For instance, in the old format College Station, Lamar Fulshear, Angleton, Crosby and BH all would’ve been in the same R3-5A-D2 bracket with PNG this year. Not saying y’all still wouldn’t have went to state, just saying that would’ve been the bracket. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the SETX 5A-D2 district is sending their 2nd team to the finals in 5 years since the split. The district has also played in 3/5 semifinals since the split. You still have to be great to get there but the classification splits have been extremely beneficial in general to this coverage area.
  15. PNG about to party like it’s 1999🎉 Congrats to the Indians! There’s nothing like seeing your boys in Jerry World. It would make a huge statement around the state if y’all could win it.
  16. If Wilson can play as clean as he did this week PAM has a shot. LV plays a lot of 0 coverage so they can blitz but PAM’s o-line is just decent enough that they might be able to hold up for Wilson to get the ball down the field and their receivers can definitely win some matchups in the passing game. You can’t drop back and throw it every play though so I think the question is how to manufacture rushing yards. If they can figure that out it’s probably going to be a good game regardless of what PAM does on defense. PAM is probably going to struggle on defense. Wakeland threw her ball very effectively on PAM last night but there were some gaps in the running game too. LV’s QB is nowhere near as good as FW’s in the passing game but he’ll pull it down and run it and there was miles of space if FW’s QB would’ve done that last night. PAM is going to have to get that fixed. Jalen Hale is a high rated four star but he’s not as impactful in the passing game as that Riordan kid was. It’s all about slowing down Tatum and defending the play-action, which has been awful tough this year. PAM is the bigger, faster team and has the better athletes but I think this will be a game where it’s drastically obvious the difference on the sideline.
  17. They can keep it coming at us. We've won some important one and lost a bunch of them too. All the "told you so" just comes with the territory. No matter how much speak on Crosby I guarantee none of our posters will whine about being picked on because nobody like us.
  18. Dude is from South Splendora, other than driving through The Commons this is the most interesting thing he does all day.
  19. So what does 4 total playoff wins over like 13 years with three state championship coaches make you? Lol, BH was literally one point away from the same season Crosby just had. It's good now though, the best player on your team transferred to Crosby and Abseck is going to have to vote "yes" on all of our remaining transfers, like the North Shore kids, now since y'all have had some questionable acquisitions in other sports. Just to correct you statement, Crosby has played 5 December playoff games and won three regional titles in the 7 years prior to this one though. We needed some things to go right this year for Crosby to be able to maximize this team's ability and they didn't, that just part of it. We're excited about next year super excited about the next few years after that when Coach P will fall into the caliber of talent as those Riordan teams. You never want it to end like it did but the consensus you got from the fans leaving the stadium Friday was that we were due for a year like this. In '11, '15, '18 and now '22 injuries were detrimental, seems like that's the case for us every 3-4 years. Little 14 broke his collar bone and missed three games but was still able to fight back and earn a unanimous first team all-district selection but all in all we're just glad it's over.
  20. Very tough season but very proud of this team. Lots of serious injuries and could've easily quit after being blown out by Kingwood Park which is where I actually thought we were at that point in the season. I think there are some seniors that next year's team will benefit from having graduated. Last time we finished 6-5 with a first round loss was 2011 and that kicked off a good stretch of football for us. I think we're going to have more kids next year whose main focus will be on winning versus receiving individual accolades. As far as the game, the things that needed to go wrong for us to get blow out did but after being blown out multiple times this year this result was probably more probably than possible. I know the Longview fans feel great about their team, as they should, but this version of LV isn't some all-timer. Outside of running back they're not better than the Aledo team we lost to in the title game at any position. DBs are their strongest position group and they're still not on the level that Aledo team was with the Allen brothers. Going to be hard to win state with a QB going 2-10 for 29 yards on a defense that's not that great. You can blame it on the weather but I said earlier in the year that it would be hard to win with Allen playing QB and I wouldn't say anything different now. If Crosby had DBs that would've just turned around Allen would've thrown 3 gimmie' interceptions. LV didn't complete one pass to a wide receiver, so while Hale is great he's not going to beat you with Allen playing QB. Those other receivers are a non-factor, they really don't even get meaningful targets. To LV's credit though, they figured out how to get Hale the ball in other ways for him to be effective. LV may well win state but I think it's going to be tough for them to score consistently on anybody that Tatum can't run the number up on, like it was against Lancaster. Going to be interesting to see if LV can beat them at a neutral site? I think that game and the potential Aledo game would be their toughest test in the state regardless of if they were to make the title game.
  21. I’m good whatever it is. Boys just rode four hours to play in the cold, wet rain and didn’t lay down. We’re 6-4, we’re supposed to get blown out. Y’all definitely ain’t state title quality and this is nothing like a “greatest team ever”. Not even being facetious, almost ever Manvel team we’ve played is better than this
  22. Or if we don’t botch the snap after y’all fumble on 4th down we probably score again. Lots of what ifs
  23. Neither does the score about what y’all were supposed to be doing to us. We couldn’t block La Porte and FB Marshall’s d-line is better than yours just like I said
  24. According to y’all it should’ve already been over though
  25. Man, if Myles would just throw the freaking ball this would be a completely different game right now. He’s holding the ball and letting the rush get to him when he has open receivers. I wouldn’t mind seeing Eudy
