  1. I think MCM is the better rivalry in historical terms, but I think Crosby and Dayton is the premier rivalry in the coverage area now. It's kind of a hard point to argue against when Dayton and Crosby are 1 & 2 in every conceivable category for at least the last decade.
  2. Funny that you saw that as being worried. Undoubtedly the Crosby coaches saw it a different way which is why they started off one practice on the goal line "for talking trash" as it was described by Riordan on that same Twitter. If they're worried about Dayton then they must be really worried about New Caney because they talked a lot more trash to Marte Allison when he was saying they would "dub" Crosby. Dayton is our rivalry game but Manvel is the game that has Crosby worried this year, they're a lot better measuring stick for us than the Broncos currently are. *for those uninformed, "dub" means to beat by 20 or more points.
  3. The point is kids like Tyrik Rollison and Garrett Gilbert will carve you up at the high school level no matter the talent level you think your player. The fact is that Dayton could stop neither. Rollison put up over 500 total yards on you and Gilbert threw for 474 yards alone. Dayton may have turned the ball over inside the 5 but that has nothing to do with Rollison missing only 6 times in 30 attempts and averaging over 15yards per completion. Gilbert missed 6 times in 40 attempts. At the end of the day SS' combination of Rollison and Jackson, Travis' combination of Gilbert and Bird were just better than Green and Dugat. That's the long answer for my initial response to the "Crosby D1 players" comment. People here think it sounds like boasting when you talk about your players but we would get laughed at on the SW side of Houston or in the DFW for saying you have 5 D1 players on the roster. Their response would be, "That's all?". Now wonder y'all got killed by Ridge Point. GR probably had 10 on the roster. Same thing is probably going to happen when we play Manvel to start the season. There will be plenty of "I thought y'all had all those D1 players?", never taking into consideration they signed 12 D1's in one class last year and barely lost to Katy in the process. The thinking here is so myopic it's sad.
  4. Of the top 10 only Calallen and Highland Park have less D1 kids than Crosby. Aledo and Calallen are also the only two schools that don't have an actual enrollment around 2000 kids too. Lone Star didn't turn in 2k but most likely will at the next alignment. Green and Dugat were high level D1's but still weren't comparable when they were one the field with SS, Manvel and Lake Travis. PAM will look just like Crosby this year with the D1's . . . . until they play those kids off the southwest.
  5. BH doesn't have the size or athletes to dominate Vidor at the line of scrimmage like other teams will do them. It's highly unlikely BH is faster than Vidor either. I'm not saying Vidor will win, but I think you're going to find out quickly that Westeberg doesn't have that much of a coaching advantage when the athletes put on the field are equal. Vidor runs a backwoods style of offense BH hasn't really seen before and won't see again all year, not to mention BH has to go across the river and play in front of the biggest and most hostile crowd they'll play in front of all year besides when they come to Crosby. BH will be running a new system with a bunch of new starters while Vidor will be running their oiled-up trick play offense with like 17 returners I believe. I'm just telling you from experience that it probably won't go like you think, especially the first time you see them.
  6. Is BH's new board bigger than Crosby's? Our looks like it could be twice the size the one in Vidor is.
  7. 7 carries for 99 yards in the first quarter this game against Angleton before his season ended with a knee injury. If he's 100% Crosby might literally have the most potent backfield in the state of Texas this year: Netherly(QB verbal to LSU, Grace(RB verbal to UH), Craig Williams(#3 APB in Country).
  8. I like it. Dark Horse in '14, to favorites in '15, back to dark horse in '16.
  9. Depends on what your definition of the phrase means. Y'all could barely hold your own CE King the week after we beat them by 40. . . so I wouldn't be so sure. There's a difference between putting good athletes on the field like Humble and Central do vs putting good teams on the field like Crosby and Dayton do.
  10. Central needs to finish with the #1 D2 seed, otherwise you get Crosby in the first round. It's not much better getting the #2 seed though, seeing as how you will most likely get Dayton in the first round instead. Central can actually win the district and still get the Dayton vs Crosby loser in the first round, second round would be Texas City/Fort Bend Marshall or Galveston Ball most likely.
  11. Look at Humble's schedule. If they beat Tompkins there's a better than not chance they go 4-1 the first half of the season. All they would need to do to get a playoff spot would be to win 2 of their next three games facing New Caney, Barbers Hill and Porter. I think they lose the last two against Crosby and KP.

  15. Well, using this criteria I guess we're good? 2006: 1st round baptism by Dayton 2007: 1st round re-born baptism by Dayton 2008: 1st round beat Lumberton, 2nd round 31-24 loss Brenham 2009: 1st round beat Nederland, 2nd round beat Montgomery, 3rd round 27-20 loss Dawson 2010: 1st round beat Nederland, 2nd round loss Montgomery 2011: 1st round loss to a team that shall remain nameless 2012: 1st round beat Ozen, 2nd round loss Manor 2013: 1st round beat PNG, 2nd round loss Elgin 2014: 1st round beat Ozen, 2nd round beat PLC, 3rd round beat Brenham, 4th round beat Hutto, 5th round loss Cedar Park 2015: 1st round beat Lumberton, 2nd round loss FB Ridge Point 7 of 10 years past the first round. Something else I noticed while doing this exercise is that only one true SETX team has beaten Crosby in the playoffs the last decade.
  16. Man, that never gets old!!! Makes the kids' videos from Crosby look grammy worthy, lol. I do however, throw my V's up when I'm riding through Vidor and don't see police.
  17. You do realize if they combine TC and LaMarque they'll have about 300 more kids than Friendswood does which made it to the third round playing out of that same district last year? They would only be about 50 students shy of the enrollment last year's district champion Clear Creek currently has. They would have the second best collection of athletes in that entire district. If you added La Marque's basketball team to TC's you probably have a squad that will compete for a district championship there too. The VERY last thing that would happen if you combined those two schools is that they would struggle to compete in sports, especially in the district they would be put in. Prime example is TC barely losing the district championship last year to Ridge Point, Ridge Point moved up to 6A and is currently the favorite to win the Fort Bend district in their first year there. Those two schools being combined would have beaten Ridge Point last year, and they would be favored to win the district that sends more kids to FBS schools than most likely any other in Texas.
  18. Man, I actually thought we had a chance that year. We were coming off a bi-district win where Haynes threw for 535 yards and Beck had 20 catches for 320 yards, which I believe were both Texas playoff records at the time. Kellen came in sitting a little shy of 4,000 on the season and Beck was already sitting on 2,000 receiving yards for the season, we then proceeded to lose by 55 . . . .
  19. Who knows, this might be Crosby's best team under Riordan too. I highly doubt they're better than the teams he had in the '90s with his son running for 3000+ though, or the two or three years after his son left. Hopefully we do get to play them, at least it'll mean we won the region again.
  20. If Crosby does get to go D2 they could have a path to the semis that consisted of PNG, Texas City, Brenham and College Station. It's by no means easy, but I would call that "the stars aligning" for us. No disrespect to Calallen but Crosby would by far have the easiest route to the title game of all the predictions LSG made. Same for the route DC's had us going to the semis. As far as Manvel being the only legit team from Houston with a chance, they might not even be the best team on 288 next year with Angleton right down the street. They have both Region IV teams from the SW side predicted to make the regional final with the winner getting Cedar Park. Manvel would have to get through four teams out of combination of FB Elkins, Ennis, Temple, Waxahachie AND Cedar Park just to even win the region in D1, then face Angleton or Foster in the semis. With all the high enrollment schools in Fort Bend moving up into their proper classification mixed with the Central Texas realignment, D2 has been left wide open in region 3.
  21. I think an even bigger part of that are the views of the people that actually vote on the bonds. Ned has won 6 consecutive district championships, how do you sell better facilities to a town who's already won a state title with those facilities and currently dominates the district? Not to mention, the stagnant growth and/or contraction of the area doesn't really warrant them. It's hard to pass a bond when you could potentially have less of a tax base to support it 10 years down the road. From an income per household perspective Ned and Crosby are pretty similar, the difference is that we have a growing population so our bond wasn't really to upgrade(even though we got a lot), it was more to accommodate. I would imagine there's also a bit of the "keeping up with the Jones' " factor too, par for facilities in the Houston suburbs is a little higher than what you find on average in the SETX area.
  22. My only question is where does Dayton get their work in? I think it's going to take 4 or 5 games like it did when Riordan took over. I think CV is a great game to see where your squad is athletically and Ned is a good game to check your execution in a tough environment. Other than Splendora, five of Dayton's first six games are against CV, Ned, Humble, New Caney and BH. Dayton has a good chance to come out of there 5-0 but I wouldn't be surprised if they come out 2-3 under a first year coach. It at least sounds like Dayton has fixed the depth issues though.
  23. Our trainers usually keep a few tubes of Boudreaux's butt paste to help opponents as we crop-dust SETX. I'm sure we have extra room in the playoff budget for charter buses and cowbells so a little salve shouldn't be an issue.
  24. Just like your last 6 games against Ned have. Only difference is that we won our first 11 and expected to win that one too. PNG puts L's on the schedule before they even released.
  25. . . . . and Ned with their great coach and execution is where? ? ? ? ? That's right, they're in line buying Vaseline waiting on Dayton to come to town. Look at it on the bright side BigDog, you'll probably be able to say "I told you so" after the Manvel game . . . Then you'll get to sit quietly by, while we run off 13 or 14 in row, and hope somebody from Central Texas or SW Houston can beat us before the site crashes.
