  1. False things like what? Your district is 2.6% black, Crosby ISD is closer to 20%. The "inclusive" thing comes from a BH transfer that would have been a stud but is now at Crosby. I don't think you necessarily need diversity to win, my comment was about why BH won't get more diverse. My comment on Moss' "flavor" remark which highlighted Deer Park was about how BH currently mirrors them on a much smaller scale. I can also tell you what a BH transfer from Crosby relayed but it's unnecessary. If we buy the same house and yours cost 100K more at comparable tax rates, which Crosby and BH are, who pays the higher mortgage if financed at the same rate? As far as the homegrown thing, there are also more move ins than homegrown people in Houston proper 4 million population too. That's normal in a growing area. I'm just explaining why 90% look like you. You just said yourself "Academics is what gets most kids moving here no matter their color." That's also the case in Deer Park so thank you for making my point for me. We're on a football website talking about programs winning and losing football games, unfortunately Crosby, North Shore and Atascosita don't get academic transfers unless they're moving from the inner city usually. They do win football games though.
  2. Foster played a state champ and beat them by 28. Then they played King and won by only 14 with a hurt Trey Williams after we beat them by almost 40. Fact of the matter is that nobody outside of SETX thinks that's a game even worth playing. In non-district Crosby played Ned who made it to the second round and Angleton who made it to the regional final, they won those games a combined 69-18. Do you think we would get more out of playing WOS than Manvel who signed 12 D1 kids last year? Do you think WOS can put anything on the field to compare to Derrick Tucker, Alfred Bryant or Jalen Preston who we might have to see again in the second round if Crosby goes D1? I'm not even including the D1 running back and other receiver they have. You're not going to beat Crosby with coaching, heart or by playing "good team ball". You better have Terry Petry locking people down, Mustafa Muhummad running drags and Travis Bruffy paving the way or you'll be searching for moral victories by "playing close". You don't think the 6A size and speed Reagan will put on the field will do more for us than playing a 4A-D2 squad who said his team looked like the circus dropped the off? We can no longer play games in non-district where the response to the outcome it "well, you should've won". As far as playing a state champ, there's a very good chance Manvel will win a 5A title the two years they're in the class. They'll probably be preseason #2 in the state behind Cedar Park.
  3. I think the south side of I-10 is where the majority of BH's athletes will come from. We can talk about the area growing but all you have to do is take a look down the road at 4000+ enrollment Deer Park to tell you can still run a deficit even with more kids to choose from. Unless you're from BH or the surrounding area they'll still have a hard time attracting people like me with three young sons who are all good athletes because the same house that's $250k+ is about $160K in North Shore, Baytown, Liberty Lakes, Crosby, Atascosita, etc. Not to mention the high property tax they pay out there. Those places are also a lot more "inclusive/receptive" to different people moving in. At the end of the day I don't you'll ever get the diversity in BH because there are too many factors that work against it, I do agree that they'll improve because of the coaching and simply having more kids to choose from as the area grows though.
  4. George Ranch ran the ball 53 time in the state title game and threw it 6 times. When we lost to Cedar Park a couple of years ago in the semis, they ran it 48 times and threw it 4. When we los to #6 Elgin the year before that they ran it 73 times and threw it 8. It can be done if you have the players to do it. It's not 1987 but the same principles still apply, you're probably going to be the most successful if you run the ball and play defense like Cedar Park, George Ranch, Katy, etc.
  5. Here's the box score from last year, at what point were we shaking? We were waiting to blow it open, kind of like the time we dropped 56 on y'all in Crosby and Neumann shut it down with 6 or 7 mins left in the 4th so we wouldn't get 60+: [Hidden Content] PAM was on the schedule for week 3 if we were in an 8 team district. The reason we don't play WOS is because we can play more high profile games against better teams that get us ready for playoff competition in our own class, which is why Crosby has Manvel and Reagan on the non-district schedule next year. Manvel signed twelve D1 kids off last year's squad and Reagan finished 9-2 in second place in the 6A HISD district behind Lamar. Those schools are a lot closer to what we'll see later in the 5A playoffs versus playing someone like WOS.
  6. Go look at the compilation of number for the last 10 years, it would probably shock you to know that Crosby ranks second in every category behind only Dayton. That's with Ned going to the regional final and winning all those consecutive district games. Ned can't beat Crosby in the playoffs either, Neumann couldn't even outcoach Flannigan in their postseason matchups. Nobody in Crosby is riding Dayton's jock, trust me, there's nothing over there we would prefer over what we have in Crosby.
  7. Yeah, but to my original question. If you feel WOS would've beaten Crosby, what would the score have been with Nederland since y'all lost by 17. They beat y'all by at least three tds, right? I don't think anybody was worried either, we ran it for almost 250 and threw it for almost 250. The only reason Ned got anywhere close to 300 total yards was because Krautz broke about a 50 yarder where the defense lost him. The only reason the game was even that close is because Crosby turned it over 3 times, including one going in to score and one that was a fluke pick 6, and we had nearly 100 yards in penalties. I think Neumann gets more from his team than the sum or their parts should equal on a yearly basis. Fact of the matter tough, is that he's 2-8 his last ten tries against Crosby, Dayton and BH. Your program does speak for itself but at the end of the day it is what it is.
  8. Well, you know what they say about blind "Sqwirl(s)". Per Maxpreps: "Might be the most underrated running back in the country". Crazy that he really hasn't even been the starter the last couple of years. Crazy that Crosby has an Aggie playing qb who could potentially be handing off to a Longhorn and Cougar while throwing what's most likely his third option below. Option #2 for Netherly without the updated offer sheet. Jordan Hill - [Hidden Content] Option #1 (IMO). Trey Edwards - [Hidden Content]
  9. I think that's far from the case. I've said pretty much the exact same thing about Dayton, except without regards to the previously players they've coached. Nobody is on Porter right now, I think they have a very good shot at being a playoff team because of the coaching moves they've made. I think KP will finish second in the district, not necessarily because of the coaching moves, but because IMO Maple is building something sustainable with talent well inside the top half of the district. In all, BH is probably paying in excess of $300k per year to have Westeberg down here. I hope they win games at a better clip for the strength of the district. Except for Dayton, everybody has nice fields, stadiums, replay boards, etc. BH is something like 1-9 their last 10 meeting with Crosby and Dayton, most of those games have been blowouts. I think you see that sentiment expressed more than what you are calling jealousy, to say they immediately compete for district championships because of a coaching change without knowing how a coach will adjust to the talent level tells me you haven't watched the product they've been putting on the field recently.
  10. I think he's going to need an adjustment period just like Westeberg will. The guy just came from a place where he was coaching SEC-type defenders on a regular basis. He was coaching LB's going to Alabama that are the same size as BH's lineman. Not to mention the guys he was coaching got to practice against 5-stars like Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon in high school. I think he'll instill some swagger in them that they've been missing though. I just wonder if you're already giving up 20+ with that type of talent against what we would consider antiquated offenses, how you adjust to more complicated schemes with talent a few tiers below?
  11. It just it what it is. If a school has 2000+(or 2,348) kids and wins district but is the third largest school in their district they go to the D2 playoffs. If another district doesn't have as high an enrollment you could have the third smallest school from there playing them in the same class. With split divisions and 5 team districts you can get a 2-8 team in bi-district and a 4-7 team in the area round. On multiple occasions the last couple of years in 5A-region 3 you're getting top 10 state matchups in the first two rounds, much like 6A in the DFW. Crosby has only lost once in bi-district the last 8 years, of all our second round losses in that time span Elgin was the only squad we lost to that didn't at least make the regional final or win the region outright and that's probably because their qb got hurt the round before against us. I think coming from the SETX part of the bracket in 5A and 6A if you can make it past the second round you can probably make the regional final even easier, it's just getting tougher as Fort Bend county's population explodes on top of them already pumping out multiple NFL level players yearly.
  12. Man, if you think that you must feel WOS would've slaughtered Nederland then. Ned scored 12 offensive points on Crosby and lost by 17 in Mid-County. We get 40+ and another Golden Triangle layup if the game was in Crosby. So, since Crosby won 35-17 you must think WOS would've beaten y'all 42-14? Not really saying much for how you feel about you own program.
  13. Like I said, Hancock has been calling defenses against Crosby for longer than anybody we have faced or will face. Dayton's defense is the only reason they've been in the games the last few years, they've only scored over 20 offensive points once in that stretch. Now that Stew isn't around to prop the defense up you think Nations is going to come off of a 5 year hiatus and have anything for Riordan and this staff? Getting new players is good, but are they good new players? If they were good they would've been trying to get scholarships and wouldn't have let a coach affect that goal. I think you can mark it down, with what Crosby has coming back and Nations first year as a head coach it'll be Dayton's worse loss to Crosby since the shutout in the rain. I hope Dayton is undefeated when Crosby comes to town though.
  14. LOL. In the words of LilTex, Neumann = 1-5 against Crosby in his career. If PAM puts it on y'all like that "Daddy" might be more appropriate than "Hova". In a few short years we've gone from your coach running his mouth calling Crosby "scared" to line it up to his team being taken off the schedule due to lack of competition and athletes. C'mon Mayfield, Crosby and Dayton have been tag teaming y'all like education majors.
  15. As far as 21-5A win total improvements I think it'll be Kingwood Park and Porter that will lead the way. KP only won three games last year but I think they'll finish second in district behind Crosby. They were inconsistent on varsity but the younger kids executed coach Maple's system to perfection last year. I also expect them to be the biggest team in the district at line of scrimmage. The other team I think will improve from their 1 win last year is Porter. When Jim Holley was at KP I thought he was the second best coach in the district behind Riordan. KP never beat themselves under him and he always seemed to get more out of his team than the sum of their parts would indicate. One thing you know Holley's teams will do is play hard-nosed defense but I actually think it'll be the power run game he installs that gives 21-5A the most fits. I think BH will improve but I also think they'll struggle at the qb position which will hinder them in some of the shootouts they'll be in. They're also so depleted talent wise at the younger level I think it'll be a couple of years before you really start to see real improvement, with Santa Fe and Vidor on the schedule in non-district they should have a better record though.
  16. You can't give me insight on anything. Dallas Skyline, Desoto and Westfield are not only some of the most talented teams in Texas, but some of the most talented in the country. None of them have titles, neither does Brenham who's produced first round picks like Limas Sweed and Malcom Brown, not to mention guys like Jarret Lee who was backing up Phillip Rivers a few years ago. The way the current format is, the second round in 5A and 6A is usually the hardest round before the regional final because you get a bunch of top seeds matching up from districts with 7-9 teams. Half of the teams in the 4A playoffs, especially D2, come from the bottom half of the district and the good teams really won't see each other until deep. You saw how WOS was slaughtered by Foster this past year, those are what the good 5A teams in Houston look like. Foster couldn't win a big game either and they probably have more D1 recruits than Crosby. What Crosby puts on the field is standard operations for the good 5A's in the Houston area, it only seems like a lot of talent when you compare it to the SETXsports coverage area. Fort Bend County probably has the highest concentration of talent anywhere in the country besides Dade or Broward counties in south Florida. Keep in mind that on you way to Fort Bend you can detour down 288 where Pearland, Dawson, Manvel and Angleton all reside. Yet, until GR won a title this past year the only one they had to show was LC with Rodgers. That's coming from an area with probably 30 schools. Little bit different playing the district champion from toughest district in the region for a second round game, who eventually lost to the champ in the semis vs getting Wharton which couldn't win their own district which probably consisted of only 5 teams. I'm glad WOS won for the GT, but like I said, there's not a bit of insight you can offer me. Crosby is moving towards the 6A ranks in a couple more alignments while WOS is pretty stagnant and will continue to get to play in a watered down 4A-D2, we're just looking at things from two totally different ends of the spectrum.
  17. Yet, when you ask him who the better coach was he'll tell you "Hancock". I don't think that speaks well for either guy. I understand the familiarity with Nations but you can't tell me the list of applicants for Dayton's AD position didn't have a guy more qualified than one who specializes in offense but hasn't called a play in 5 years. I think there are going to be Dayton fans at the end of next season that will reflect on Hancock's tenure and think it wasn't all that bad. Where do you and Stew play at? I played River Terrace with my dad the other day and shot 78(39/39) playing lift-clean-and place. Might have to hook up on time soon, I'm trying to sharpen my game for our manager's cup tournament in Lake Charles at Gray Plantation next month.
  18. Well, that's one way to look at it. The other way to look at it is Dayton has those passing yards because they can't run the ball on Crosby. Dayton has only rushed for over 100 yards as a team on Crosby once in the last three years and that was McBride taking direct snaps running side to side a couple of years ago. On the flip side Crosby has rushed for 1,078 yards alone while Dayton as a whole has only moved the ball for 1,059 yards. Riordan knows he always has the ability to line up and mash it down Dayton's throat in his back pocket which I think may have affected the earlier parts of the game the last few years. Crosby is averaging a little over 359ypg rushing the last few meetings but really hasn't started running the ball until later in the games. All Dayton could average last year with this big o-line you talked about was 2.8ypc. If Nations doesn't get some of that finesse out of Dayton, three years from now they'll still be averaging 257 passing ypg against Crosby and have three more L's to go with it.
  19. I agree with what you said but in the end you still need talent, otherwise you just end up being Vidor. A prime example was Lumberton in bi-district last year. I'm sure the kids played with all the heart they had, but were still down 35-0 at halftime to a team who admittedly wasn't on the same page all year. I know in 21-5A the last four years the most talented teams have made the playoffs with the exception of Humble.
  20. Looks like Crosby may have improved their chances at repeating for the district crown. What was already going to be a good secondary just added what may end up being our best pure cover guy, which say a lot with guys like Tay'lor Perry on the team. Kid was solid last year and has been starting at SA Roosevelt since he was a sophomore, kid might blow up once Mann fixes his film. Johnnie Harper - [Hidden Content]
  21. Not only that, Canyon is ranked #2 in Texas behind undefeated 6A Duncanville according to Maxpreps national rankings. They're also ranked #10 in the country according to that same prep service. I would think the winner of this game would be the odds on favorite to win it all, but if I remember back correctly Canyon knocked Crosby out last time they advanced this far or at least they've knocked us out when we went deep before. They fundamental-ed us to death. That being said, as long as the odds are against our girls, I think the length and athleticism Crosby posses on the wing could be a problem for Canyon. This a true David vs Goliath but hopefully coach Trotter sees something on the TImberview tape that can get us a W.
  22. No he wouldn't, because PNG most likely wouldn't make the playoffs if Dayton was in 22-5A. He doesn't really know who has what coming back over here, probably just an assumption off having a new coaching staff. A staff where the icon of their program passed over the current head coach to give it to the guy they just basically fired. I would say the chances are twice as good that Dayton finishes fourth versus first.
  23. I thought the same thing following the Ned/Dayton game while I was watching us play Angleton. Then I actually saw them play and my opinion changed. I was fully in the "Daddy Ball" camp but in person I thought Hancock was a much more accurate passer and more efficient decision maker. It's obvious Long was the better athlete though. I guess we'll have to wait and see how the new staff handles the qb position.
  24. Hopefully she'll be transferred back to Crosby and play with the rest of the girls she grew up playing with. Tough to see one of our players go help another school win, maybe we get the rubber match in the regional final though?
  25. As a Crosby fan we were over there hoping y'all would put Long in the game. I didn't see the Ned game where he went off but I did see Humble, KP, New Caney and us. It was the consensus from our side that Hancock was the better qb and ran the team more efficiently. From what I saw Dayton was extremely predictable with Long back there. Other than Timmy Ware's performance against Crosby, I thought Hancock's games against New Caney and PNG were the best from one of our district qbs I saw all year. Like I said, I never saw the Ned game with Shaq though. Hancock's only issue I saw was not being able to take the pounding of a 5A season, that kid probably would've been all-state at a lower level though.
