  1. The reason A&M didn't recruit as well isn't because of what's going on, it's because it's A&M. Aggy made their own bed when they went to the SEC to escape Texas and made some headway because of it, mainly due to a player who wished he could've gone to Texas ironically. There's not enough kids that care about A&M's facilities and playing in the SEC to make that constant propaganda line stand up. Kids see A&M getting whipped on a regular basis, the difference when they see Texas lose is that they know there's a chance they can make a difference if they buy in. They also starting to see A&M for what it's always been and will continue to be in the SEC which is a middle of the road program capable of having good years sporadically. Sumlin's pull is wearing off and recruits now see they have to come live in College Station while winning 6-8 games a year. The Mack Brown comment has 0 validity if you follow recruiting. Mack was the king of the early commits which often pushed players ranking without any real substance. Charlie has been ridden two straight years for not getting commits earlier, instead he prefers to put more emphasis on senior year evaluations. For instance, Mack had a kid named Johnny Shaw from Center/WOS committed from early on in his high school career. Anybody who watched his film saw he wasn't at the elite high school safety level, so when Charlie comes in he pulls his offer which infuriated some, he got the "he doesn't know what he's doing" wrap . Turns out the kid was only good enough to go to La. Tech after further evaluations by other recruiters. Would have been a non-contributor at Texas, instead he flips PJ Locke from Oregon at the 11th hour and Locke plays as a true freshman. Mack was a salesman and a southern gentleman, Charlie just a football coach. Like I said a couple of weeks ago, if Aggy can't out-recruit Texas while they're down right now they're the ones that are probably in more trouble than if Texas couldn't out-recruit Aggy. Just think about when Texas starts winning and picking up 25 commitments on 30-something offers like they were doing during the '06 and '09 title game years.
  2. Crosby 2017's so far: Mannie Netherly(WR) - A&M commit, #36 in country, #35 overall in the state Carlos Grace(RB) - UH commit, #65 RB in country, #117 overall in the state Tay'lor Perry(CB) - Big 10 offers, #42 in country, #76 overall in state Jordan Hill(WR) - Offers from Colorado St. and Bowling Green among others, NR Trey Edwards(WR) - Kid that jumped over Dayton defender's head an did 360, No offers yet Alec Lewis(OLB/S) - Should have multiple offers after the Spring evaluation period *Craig Williams(RB) - 2018 247sports 5-star, freshman All-American and currently holds multiple offers Have many other who will get offers but just posted the kids who already have/should get FBS offers
  3. What you saw from North Shore this year was probably the most watered down version of them you'll see for the next five years. They had a linebacker playing qb, still can't catch/throw consistently in the new offense, one of the weaker o-lines they've had in a decade and no elite running back for the first time in a while . . . and STILL won state in the hardest classification of high school football in America. IDK if Klubnik really makes a difference, you still have to get open on their dbs like 5-star LSU commit Eric Monroe and avoid the rush by 4-star freaks like K'Lavon Chaisson. As far as La Vega vs Argyle, it was speed and athleticism versus pure power. Argyle is 0-2 their last two trips to the title game because Navasota and La Vega's athletes trumped Argyle's system. Giving Jon Kay NS' players was a quicker way to a title than giving him Kingwood's money, same thing with coach Tullos and GR's athletes versus maybe having Friendswood's money.
  4. Friendswood is 4-18 against La Marque. They're 5-4 against Dawson which was built up by winning 3 of 4 the first years Dawson had a varsity, they're 2-3 since then against Dawson and barely squeaked by them the past season in OT. It was the first season since the first year Dawson had a varsity that they hadn't at least made the third round regardless of classification. Friendswood beat Manvel the first three years they had a varsity, then proceeded to get smoked like 60-28 and won't play them anymore. I threw La Marque in because with all the money Friendswood has for whatever reason they couldn't beat those boys from the swamp with their poorly run school district and declining enrollment. Sort of like Celina couldn't beat WOS this year, or Westlake beat North Shore or Argyle beat La Vega, etc. You already know how I feel about it though.
  5. Crosby complete 2016 schedule. Looks like BH gets the treatment right out of the box for the 5th straight year to start district play:
  6. Cougar 14.2 juice? You look SAF trying to make a connotation towards me for a post a different member made. I read what he said and chose not to comment on it, but I do understand the inference he's trying to make. The wording probably should've been more tactful(which is weird because I'm totally sure you're against being pc) as not to offend anybody though. Just like I always tell Bronco Pride, it's a heck of a lot easier to find athletes than it is to find money, find a great coach and build a championship type program all at the same time or within a short span of each other. Nobody probably mentioned Friendswood because they're 12-23 against their old district mates like La Marque, Manvel and Dawson who all do it the way Moss was referring to. It's a lot easier to win like the Dayton teams did under Stew than to try to copy Lake Travis' formula. So while Moss' apartment comment was stereotypical and uncouth, I do agree with the gist of what he was saying. All you had to do was look at most of the title games this past season.
  7. Crosby's confirmed non-district schedule Week 1 - Manvel Week 2 - Houston Reagan
  8. I thought PNG was losing a lot to graduation? The only offense they have coming back is McZeal, right? That's a lot of confidence with so many question marks.
  9. BH-1527, La Porte-2329, Westbrook-2495, Channelview-2610, Deer Park-4087
  10. 21-5A Enrollment Rankings 1. Caney Creek - 1,976.5 2. Kingwood Park - 1,836 3. Porter - 1,787.5 4. Humble - 1,719.5 5. New Caney - 1,706.5 6. Crosby - 1,668 7. Barbers Hill - 1,527 8. Dayton - 1,494 9. Splendora - 1,107
  11. Just saw region three picked up an East Texas and Central Texas district. The last two 5A-D2 champs, Cedar Park and Ennis, are both in region three now. Sucks that Cedar Park with 1,949 kids will almost certainly be playing 5A-D2 again for the next two years. Same for Texas City with 1,920 kids due to being in a district with Manvel(2012) and Elkins(2114.5). Foster and Angleton have been moved into region 4. Region three was probably already the deepest of all the 5A classes, after realignment there's no "probably" to it.
  12. Seems like they could have still thrown Westbrook in there with 21-6A. Going to be some very long rides during the week for the Bruins.
  13. BH is still probably a couple of years away judging from what they had coming through the system, you can always get a transfer though. The teams that could surprise people are Porter and KP in my opinion. KP is big with some good skill players coming through the program and KP's old coach just took over at Porter, which has the same type of athletes as he had at KP with at similar enrollment.
  14. I honestly think the UIL will do what they can to avoid splitting up BH, Crosby and Dayton for whatever reason that may be. I know Dayton was sent east one alignment but I think the UIL almost sees the three schools as an ISD and will avoid splitting them if they can.
  15. Well, looks like 21-5A is a nine team district again. I'm assuming Crosby's tentative game with PAM is off now? Probably only get Manvel and Foster in non-district now. Going to be extremely rough for Caney Creek and Splendora. Splendora basically has 4A numbers and struggled in that class last year and Caney Creek has only won like seven games the last four years. Certainly weakened the district adding those two schools, hopefully Porter gets stronger under their new staff and makes up for it.
  16. Ok, just wondering. You said you knew Nations but Riordan ate him and Stew's lunch when Dayton put the best product on the field that they've ever produced, rung up about 800 yards on them if I remember correctly. Nations and Haynes are old school spread guys, you'll see what I mean by that statement after you see PAM's offense next year if they can get good qb play. I had an opportunity to GA for coach Stig at South Dakota St. and another opportunity to go into coaching for my uncle when he was the AC at one of the middle schools in Aldine ISD. I also turned it down for monetary reasons but that was years ago. I'm very good friends with Josh Davis who's the receivers coach at SDSU under coach Stig right now, he aspires to be an OC and we often talk about offensive scheme. The spread principles that some coaches include now are so far beyond what guys were running 10 or 15 years ago that if you haven't been constantly getting refreshers through actual coaching or clinics you're probably behind. I'm just saying there's some guys around here that know that type of offense extremely well, I would bet the guy BH just hired knows something about it too.
  17. They'll probably play the sub-varsity games on campus and split the two stadiums between the 8 high schools that are about to make up the district. Most of the schools that play in the ISD stadiums around here have on campus stadiums also, some are actually pretty nice.
  18. Shame Nathan White didn't make the squad. He strummed Bruffy, who was first team all-state, when they went head up. Glad Keenen got his due and Pickney was recognized for his contributions. Pretty good dbs starting to come out of Crosby.
  19. OK, I got you. Nobody at Crosby knows the spread as well as you, including the guy that scored more points on Dayton in the title game than Dayton's offense could with Nations calling plays. Haynes does though? Huffman's qbs have throw for more yards than any school around here the last five or six years, McEachern wears red too so maybe you were talking about him also?
  20. There are a lot of spread guys around here that know that offense just as well or better than the guy you're alluding to. Haynes ran the most potent spread I've ever seen at Crosby, Kellen threw for over 4,000 yards and Phillip Beck had what may be the best 4A/5A receiving season in Texas High School history. Riordan schemed up a title running it and he's also oversaw the '13 Crosby offense which was the more potent units in the area in recent memory. Fairclothe is a beast with the spread scheme too, he just doesn't have the players just like Haynes hasn't since he left Crosby. Same for the guy that's at Huffman right now. Some of the best spread guys in Texas are down here.
  21. Where the heck did I say Yoe was poorly coached? Maybe it's good you never posted before because comprehension is far from your strong suit. I watched all four of the last title games Yoe played in, they had the best athletes EVERY single time. Even against Mineola last year, which is the best team Yoe played in the last four title games prospect wise, it didn't even look like they were in the same classification if you just judged it on athletes. Yoe's qb couldn't hit the side of a barn last year and still almost threw for 3000 yards, over half of that came to Sicory Smith who averaged over 20ypc. You know why? Because athletically not even state champion Brock had a kid that could stick him. There was literally no scheme involved other than drop back and throw it up to Smith, that's on coaching. Smith going down isn't like Pingleton going down for Celina in the title game. When is the last time Kirbyville or White Oak produced a receiver like Dede Westbrook who's at OU right now and will probably play in the NFL, who by the way has a little brother name Iverson Westbrook as you probably know that will also play college ball? When is the last time one of those schools produced a 3000 yard rusher or 3000 yard passer? Or produced an All-American like Billy Pittman? Newton did have better athletes than Yoe in 2012, I think they had like five FBS-FCS kids on that roster. That's why I said most years for Yoe, but if you think you beat that Newton team by three scores with some run of the mill kids you're sadly mistaken. They're one of those 10 or so schools I always say can compete at a high level simply because of their talent level comparable to their classification. I guess Andy Evans forgot how to coach when Tatum moved up a class and he went 7-16 over the last couple of years? Or maybe he just didn't have the best players anymore?
  22. His talent comparable to his classification wouldn't be the same at Temple. There are lot of 5A teams even in region 3 with comparable talent to Temple's. I agree he's made a difference but he's just difficult to get a bead on given the built-in advantages he has at Yoe, same way it's difficult to get a bead on Westeberg without the built-in advantages he had. I think BH went after him because Dr. Pool is from Cameron Yoe, Rhoades won titles and they have a connection. Same way he knew Westeberg from his time in Cameron as a jr high coach before he eventually made it to Allen.
  23. Yoe usually has the most talent in the entire 3A classification most years. They looked pretty average after Smith got hurt in the title game. When a player like Smith can rush for nearly 7,700 yards and over 100 tds in the last three years, you have to wonder in those small classes how much is the coach and how much are the single game-changing players like Traion Smith, Chan Amie, Tanner Shafer or Roshaud Paul.
  24. I watched the exact same team you did. Those holes you speak of I chalk up to youth. Going 5-7 with that youth is a result of playing Cal and Notre Dame in the non-conference instead of Western Carolina and Ball State. When I watched Texas play I saw a one point loss to Cal on a missed XP, I saw a three point loss to OK St. on a freshman special teams error and a defensive lapse against Tech that caused another three point loss. Where are the holes at? With the freshman in the secondary against Goff and his NFL receivers and Mahomes who will also play in the NFL. Boyd, Bonney and Davis will all play in the NFL, they just looked like freshman this year. Malik Jefferson is on a Khalil Mack type trajectory but was just a freshman. Connor Williams and Patrick Vahe are probably grade the highest of any linemen at the Texas programs. Foreman and Warren both had 200 yard games this season and will be back in tandem again next year. Texas has struggled on the defensive line as of late but other than qb you can't pick any unit and Texas and say "this one is definitely better than what UT has." The same way Ohio St. was able to go from 6 wins to 0 losses in one year in a weaker Big 10 at the time because of Braxton Miller's consistency, Texas can do the same thing if they get a consistent trigger man. As far as the SEC draw and the facilities, nobody in the entire SEC puts more emphasis on that than Aggies. With the talent in this state A&M would have recruiting classes that rival Alabama's every year if it was that important. The truth is, being able to get a fade before the game isn't going to push A&M over the top after kids experience places like Baton Rouge or Gainsville. It is what it is. Texas plays in a conference where a team like TCU can win four games, then make the right hire to work with the qb and go 12-1 the next season. A&M chose to go to a conference where they're relegated to cheering for other teams and turning into a basketball school. You say Texas lost to Iowa State with the kids I said were playoff caliber, but you failed to mention those same kids beat an actual playoff team a couple of games earlier. I didn't say anything about a national championship but yeah, I absolutely believe with the qb turnover you have from the top teams in the conference and the NFL players that will be lost on defense that Texas can be a one or two loss team next year and in contention towards the end of the season.
  25. It's not really a spin. Texas has 14 kids committed, all four teams above them have at least 19 kids committed. Baylor and UH have 20 kids committed. I think Charlie's take on recruiting is that he puts more emphasis on senior year evaluations than the Spring evaluations that take place during a recruit's junior year. I'm sure it's not the most comfortable way to go about it from a fan's perspective but you're also going to get a lot less non-contributors in a class that way too. A Kyle Porter or Daruis Anderson combined with Brandon Jones would move Texas about 15 spots as the 247 team rankings sit now. Texas would probably add 4-7 more kids on top of two of those for a total of 20-23, so I think Charlie is in good shape recruiting wise. That's with no big time flips either way.
