  1. In two of the last three years Prosper has made the 6A-R2 regional finals in both D1 and D2. Prosper is an exploding community with Austin Westlake-type athletes. They’re on that second tier of defensive teams around the state at the 6A level behind Westlake, North Shore, Katy and Duncanville. No shame at all in Trinity losing to Prosper, they even beat Allen last season giving them their first district loss in IDK how many years?
  2. That's the difficult part about playing teams like CE King, North Shore, Duncanville, Desoto, etc. They already have a bunch of talent to begin with, throw in the fact that they're also open enrollment and you basically end up with select teams playing UIL football. If the UIL wanted to add an additional level of "fairness" outside of the enrollment caps they could do something like the NCAA and allow the one-time transfer free of penalty. Crosby has had kids denied even when they had legit Crosby addresses. We've had kids that had to sit out a season like one of our starting LBs this year, and still currently have kids with eligibility issues. It kind of puts you at a disadvantage for doing things the right way. Meanwhile, talent-rich schools get even more rich.
  3. I swear, the only difference between THSF and SEC football are the bag men:
  4. The starting QB for Lamar is the same Rosenthal kid from last year. It WB has anything on the defensive line they’ll probably be able to get to Rosenthal on a pretty regular basis. He was only 4-11 for 104 passing in last year’s game but he rushed for 140 yards on 15 carries. It just looks like WB struggled in general in the trenches against Lamar last year though. Lamar had 47 rushing attempts for 324 yards and 6 TDs.
  5. Smh, that’s what I meant🤦🏾‍♂️ Was watching RB film of Amarion Peterson and one of the games was against Dumas. Huff and Nate Palmer are both at Decatur.
  6. If La Porte stays even remotely close to DP at this point in Coach Berneathy’s tenure they’re probably going to be a playoff caliber team by the end of the season. They’re going to play two 4K enrollment schools in non-district so La Porte’s staff should get a solid look at their new offense against good personnel and be able to make some adjustments prior to district play. We’ll see how it looks but 25 returning lettermen, including 14 starters, is a decent start.
  7. Wow, DCTF preseason 5A offensive player of the year and the kid that I thought was the third best running back in the state behind Ruben Owens and Quentin Joyner will not even make it to the starting line for College Station this year. CS’ other three star RB transferred to Dumas with the head coach so I’m pretty sure Marquise Collins was the main reason they were ranked #4 in DCTF’s preseason poll. Brutal road to the playoffs for CS without Collins and having Cedar Park and A&M Consol. in the district.
  8. If Crosby wins this game with the players we will have available we might be even better than I though once we get healthy.
  9. Crosby's o-line personnel from two years ago is very similar to what we have now. They actually play with even more technique since the hire of the new o-line coach. It's not weird to compare the preparation and game-planning Coach P and staff did for elite d-linemen/edge players like Smith and Brown to what they'll do to Spencer and Bizor. We didn't mitigate/neutralize TH's defensive effectiveness because we had borderline 5 stars equivalent to Smith in the trenches. We did it through scheme which from film it looks like we can can also do to CE King. Using a previous example, when we're actually a better team now, just highlights it can be done. For instance, if Crosby's defense had been destroyed by Huntsville or Texas High in the trenches the last few years then this wouldn't even be a conversation if Crosby could hold up, new personnel or not.
  10. Crazy part is that MW can be salty and still miss the playoffs out of that murder's row of a district with Manvel, Foster, Angleton, Friendswood and Magnolia. I think they'll eventually finish 2nd or 3rd but there's definitely no off weeks in that district.
  11. Man, I kind of thought y'all were just messing with Soulja? Brazoswood is bad to borderline awful. Maybe the new coach there helps but CB has been so bad lately it's tough for them to get non-district gams with decent teams, that's why they've been playing Santa Fe so much in recent years. I think their last win over a winning team may have been against Angleton one of the years we played them a while back? If BU loses this one it's probably time to roll the basketballs out. CB is so short on personnel at the 6A level that BU should be able to out-athlete them with just relatively competent coaching.
  12. Dayton has the offensive personnel to average 40ppg during the regular season this year, their playcalling leaves a LOT to be desired though. Their front 6/7 is also below average for a 5A-D2 playoff caliber team. Dayton will be improved this year but their defense is going to put so much pressure on the offense to constantly score that it's probably going to be a long season for the Broncos once again.
  13. Just got through watching film of the CE King vs Westfield scrimmage from last week. If we don't turn the ball over and can stay away from the holding penalties I think Crosby may be able to put up a significant amount of points on King's defense. We don't have the personnel up front that Westfield does but I think a somewhat safe takeaway from the scrimmage is that CE King doesn't have that elite pass rush I thought they would. Their d-line is absolutely huge but they're run defenders. We played a better pass rushing defensive line against Texas High in '20 with Clayton Smith(Oklahoma) and Derrick Brown(Texas) and still put 60 on them. I don't think we'll do that to King because of how good they are against the run but I have a lot of optimism that the offensive staff won't be stymied by their personnel in the trenches, especially if all of the receivers are healthy. I think our defense will play very well against King's offense. Just on the hoof you couldn't tell if our ILB's played for the Crosby Cougars or those other red and white Cougars in Third Ward? I'm good friends with CE King's old QB that transferred to New Caney's dad. He told me King's receivers weren't the greatest play-makers on the football and that looked to be relatively true during their scrimmage. Our main question on defense is how many times will we get beat over the top? One positive before we even line up is that we're at least healthy on that side of the ball right now.
  14. For those Crosby fans that want to reminisce on the last time we played CE King. The weather conditions were sub-par that night but look at the stands, that’s what it’ll look like Friday night if the weather is even halfway decent. One thing that jumps out to me is how they looked bigger than us even back then.
  15. Just went back and watched that Shadow Creek vs CE King game from the second round last year. King had SC down 40-14 in the third quarter before they really got off the gas. King dominated SC at the LoS which makes me a little more worried about our game with them since they’ll be even better on the defensive line this year. Look how much bigger than SC they look in the trenches once the game starts. I think Katy and Summer Creek will probably replay it in the regional final in 6A-D2.
  16. Who verified what disinformation I spread about BH and what was it? I don’t really think people in BH wanted a coach who didn’t want to be there. I’ve already said it was a joke in response to another poster’s comments. As far as this BH obsession thing, hopefully this helps. I work in Baytown. There are people who have kids that attend school in East Chambers, Anahuac, Dayton, New Caney, Dickinson, St. Thomas, etc. Bunch of geography is covered at the coffee pot. The highest percentage of people’s kids attend BH though. In 15 years I’ve only had one other co-worker who’s had a kid play varsity sports at Crosby. Right now alone I have friends that have kids at BH who play varsity football, basketball, baseball, softball and even soccer. BH fans love telling you how good their programs are so they generally dominate the majority of all sports conversation, plus that’s where the majority of them live. I’ve been to softball and football playoff games to support their kids and they’ve driven all the way to Dallas to come support Crosby because of me. Doesn’t meant you’re not going to still talk trash and take pride in beating each other. I would like to talk football too so I think a good place to start is with saving all your “quality of life” posts. Tell us about the quality of your offense instead.
  17. For the people who’ve seen already I was wondering if PNG’s offense looked more like Katy’s or SLC’s? One place PNG has been well above average lately is on the offensive line and I think they could be a real factor in 5A-D2 with a more Katy-style offense that highlights that. I would imagine being at SLC so long that’s probably the route though? When PNG had success with RJ it wasn’t because of how great of a passer he was, it was because they could control the game on the ground with his running ability. Morse, Crippen and Bost are all better passers than he was. It sounds stupid for me to say after losing a game 72-69 but I never thought PNG really benefited from lining up and trying to play basketball with teams that had better athletes than them on the outside. You see BH was able to beat FB Marshall last year because of how dominant their offensive line was. Very interested to see how Coach Joseph uses PNG’s personnel versus what Faircloth saw. On the PAM side of things I know they have to replace a lot but it still feels like they should be two or three scores better than a team they’re superior in talent to that also has a head coach making his debut. I know with it being somewhat of a rivalry game weird things can happen but if PAM is going to win the 10 games I think they can this year then they should probably be able to take care of PNG relatively cleanly.
  18. If nothing else BH should get a good test at the line of scrimmage. Outside of Myles Jones I can’t think of a notable high level recruit Magnolia ISD produced that hasn’t been in the trenches lately? A lot like A&M Consol. and Magnolia High, they’re also going to be some of the bigger kids you’ll see at the 5A-D1 level. Very interested to see what the BH passing game looks like without Herndon and that offensive line this year.
  19. Listed measurables for CE King’s defensive line/edge players: Dylan Spencer(Texas) - 6’4” 240lbs Kam Bizor(Colorado) - 6’2” 235lbs Jo’lacey Bernard - 6’4” 265lbs K‘mard Kimble - 6’2” 306lbs Jolaison Landry - 6’3” 240lbs
  20. These boys don’t really look like the pushing around type:
  21. Lol, the ladies that make the coffee for those guys at the regional director level actually make more than me so I’m not even qualified to bring them coffee.
  22. I don’t think Crosby is even on the success level of Westfield or Manvel yet, much less those other two. Don’t mistake me being able to talk about my team in depth for making them out to be something they’re not. It’s not my fault you don’t know the difference between the students with the million dollar addresses that go to Lamar and and the kids that live in apartments in The Heights.
  23. What/who is DA? Not only did we not get pushed around, Myles only got pressured on ONE drop back which he would’ve ran away from in a real game. My son missed a cut for a 50 yard TD on some beautiful work by the offensive line, instead he gets met at the line of scrimmage by the big d-end, puts the forearm in his chest and drives him five yards down the field. On the defensive side I think Lamar had one positive carry. We had two sacks and two other TFLs. Lamar is right behind North Shore in the Houston area in terms of NFL players produced over the last 15 or so years. For whatever reason they especially produce high level defensive backs. When D1 caliber kids are standing on the sideline talking about their teammate getting “routed up by the white boy” you know Braden Womack’s release game was clinical. I’m pretty confident Crosby would’ve touched Lamar up by two or three tds in a real game. One thing for sure, we wouldn’t have looked near as bad as I heard y’all did against Shadow Creek.
  24. Yes, “LAST YEAR’S VERSION”. Not the state championship version or any other year. LAST YEAR’S version. Yes, I’m comparing the PERSONNEL that Crosby has THIS YEAR to the personnel and style of play you saw from College Station LAST YEAR. I have no idea what’s hard to understand about that?
