  1. Looks like those boys off HWY 90 will start from the pole in the Houston Metro rankings in 5A and 6A: [Hidden Content]
  2. Well, today is the first day of practice for the schools that participated in Spring football. Today will also be the high point in a bunch of teams’ seasons. Good luck to whatever group your team falls in and may your boys have a healthy season🙏🏾 As you can see over in the 8-5A-D1 thread the Baytown Sterling fans went ahead and shut it down right after they issued equipment.
  3. Surprisingly Crosby brings back more starters than BH and PAM? It bodes very well for Crosby's chances at a district title, especially being that Myles will be one of those returners while BH and PAM will be breaking in first year QBs. Crosby's defense should look awful impressive on the hoof.
  4. It just dawned on me that FB Willowridge’s new coach is also the dad of FB Hightower’s stud sophomore qb from last year’s 11-3 regional final squad. He moved to FBW with his dad when he got the head coaching job this past April. The only teams in this district that can really “out-athlete” FBW are FB Marshall and Texas City. IDK what kind of coach his dad will be but Kendron Penson is an absolute game changer in district with teams like Ned, PNG, Dayton and FBW packed as close together as they are personnel wise. Kid threw for just shy of 2,500 yards in a district with Manvel, Paetow, Angleton and Foster. This may be a situation like Jalen Hurts dad had at Channelview with his older brother Averion? I think the FBW games goes from a for sure win for Ned to a ?
  5. Dude, y’all are literally Splendora with nicer houses. I wouldn’t be making comments about the literary structure of anything on this site if I was you. Beyond that though, please feel free to take time out of whatever you have going on, they way they have, to write whatever you feel necessary about Huffman’s upcoming season.
  6. I agree 100% with everything you said. JT has several FBS recruits on their roster this year. I know it’s a new day but for the most part you have the same kids as last year. If y’all had another qb that was on the roster that could’ve help them why didn’t he make a difference last year? Tells me there won’t be this one this year either
  7. If you would've heard what Abseck said to CE King's coach about Crosby at the THSCA convention you would understand why their hype video looks like that. Common responses to the "What do y'all look like this year?" talk around the coffee pot in the morning from local teams' fans/parents. GCM: "Man, it's going to be tough. I'm just glad my boy is out there." Lee: "I mean, we're going to beat the other Baytown schools" Sterling: Their fans don't even like discussing football at work Anahuac: "I'm not sure but I think we were pretty decent last year. Have you seen our new subdivision though?" Dayton: "We really wanted Crosby this year, we think we can play with y'all. I think we'll be good though." Crosby: "We should be pretty decent. We're just hoping to stay healthy and make another run at state" BH: "I don't remember who we open with but we play Crosby the 4th game of the year" I'll see if I can find the video from the Vype photoshoot a couple of years ago when they asked the BH players about the upcoming season. Their response was akin to the hype video.
  8. Dude, y'all are 26-28 over the past five years. There's been a bunch of people overlooking y'all. Especially when you do stuff like lose 49-0 then backdoor it with a 42 point loss in bi-district. We've already heard of the qb issues from last year but that still doesn't explain why y'all were 5-15 the two years prior? I'm not sure Cujo could even beat Chapel Hill right now? I see a lot of Coach Holmes stuff on social media and I think he's a good leader of young men but I think the JT football was in better hands under Coach Rush. That being said, I don't think anybody who makes the playoffs from district 7 will be overlooked.
  9. We also got the 6'2" corner from North Shore, not Spring. From my understanding they showed up July 11th. They favor the one-sport method at NS which is the main reason they're at Crosby now. They'll be allowed to play both here, they're also both juniors.
  10. Who is our recruiter? What coach will we lose soon? If Crosby loses coaches it's because we're winning so I'm good with guys who deserve opportunities getting them. We're not BH, our kids can win at a high level with good coaching no matter if that guy has previously won a state title or not. Your kids and coaches have yet prove that. If you've never seen another team's hype video you're not an avid high school football fan. They're hard to miss this time of year on social media outlets like DCTF who will re-tweet them and have them pop up on your timeline.
  11. I’m a Crosby fan/parent so there’s nothing for me to like or dislike at BH. I just like to see kids get every opportunity possible and playing for a fully supportive staff is part of that. You kind of hit on it with your comment though. I think Abseck coming from Cedar Park has more adjusting to do to his personnel than TW coming did from Allen oddly. He’s not coming though so the subject is moot now. I’m hearing Crosby just picked up a 6’6” OLB from North Shore now so it’s probably a good thing we won’t have another high caliber PAPF to get through the system.
  12. I think the only reason he’s still there is because of what you mentioned so IMO it doesn’t go unnoticed. Kudos to the BH folks on that part. I just know I would prefer my son to play for a different staff though. Like somebody said above though, glad were able to choose freely.
  13. @KF89 What happened to the previews that you started posting?
  14. One of the QBs going to 8th grade. He'll be the starting QB for BH South middle school when/if we play them next year. I bumped into his dad the other evening at the stadium when our boys were doing some drills and he told me they just came back from a national camp in Atlanta, I believe, where he got ranked 4th in something? We used to call him "Little Brady" in the stands because of his skillset. I know Katy Paetow was trying to scoop him up too. Coach P's son is in the same grade so the kid that went to BH would never play QB here.
  15. Correct, some do go to Dickinson. Again, it depends on what side of the highway you're on? Is/was Crosby trying to "recruit" him or is/was he trying to go to a better situation for undisclosed reasons? What I will say is that it won't be/wouldn't be a good look for a kid like that to leave BH.
  16. Is Crosby trying to recruit him or is he not completely bought in at BH? He’s also a good basketball player. Who’s to say he doesn’t want to come play for programs that are better than the ones he’s in now? Sometimes different narratives develop depending if you live east or west of 146. I don’t think there’s anything to that rumor, if there even is one, but a player like that wouldn’t be allowed to transfer to one of the better teams in the district anyway. You would have to get them pre-PAPF like BH just did with the Crosby qb. A Dixon-type transfer would be denied at the DEC level by a vote or two even if BH, Crosby, PAM and possibly La Porte all voted affirmative.
  17. Exactly. Good chance they might be a little better the next two years than they were the last two years, still finish 3rd in the district and take two first round L’s. I’m sure Abseck’s wife is employed by the district, like TW’s was, so that would put them around $600k for that one playoff win after his third year on the job. Another interesting thing I saw is 7A won’t be here for a while according to the UIL deputy director. If the 6A floor doesn’t move up BH might be headed that way in ‘24. I think Crosby makes it in 5A-D1 until at least ‘26.
  18. Coach Berneathy could’ve stayed at Dobie and won a bunch of district titles. Pasadena ISD also pays pretty well. Have to commend him for taking the rebuild job. Interested to see what La Porte looks like at the end of the year when we play them.
  19. According to the updated schedule I saw Crosby will now open the season at HOME against CE King. The official stadium capacity is listed at 10k. Most people I’ve ever seen in the stadium was in 2018 when we played Manvel. CE King already used to pack the visitor side and now they have almost twice the enrollment. This one might be standing room only?
  20. According to the deputy director of the UIL class 7A is still a ways off. Says we need about 100 more schools to make the conference work. Said they also looking at the idea of separating the bigger schools after district play.
  21. Lol, I would love to post the link to my instagram account that shows me doing it but that would really be the shallow eye-rolling thing, right? Just saying, how do you go from talking football to talking about stuff like that? Stuff that you would never say in person and is completely “irrelevant” to the topic?
  22. MN had some injuries last year, there’s a good chance they put it together and finish 2nd behind Longview if they stay healthy this season though. There won’t be much difference from 2-4 in their district. JT and Lancaster are better at the skill positions than MN but they’re both basically spread-run teams like Texas High and Texas City which Crosby has defended pretty well lately. MN is better at the line of scrimmage than both of them though, especially on the offensive side. I watched their game against Longview the other day and MN ran it well on the Lobo defense. MN had the leading rusher in that district last year which also said something about their o-line. Lone Star is going to be very good as usual but there’s no guarantee they’re winning that district over Frisco. Frisco played 5A-D2 last year but is now the second largest school in that district behind Reedy. The playoffs are about matchups and Frisco runs a similar style offense to one Crosby hasn’t had much success defending. Assuming Lone Star and Frisco finish 1-2 in the district it will be easier for Crosby to make a regional final from the #2 hole just like it was in ‘20.
  23. Exactly. I’m expecting us to get McKinney North in the first round . Last year in district play MN only lost to Highland Park by 2 points and then knocked off Longview two weeks later in the last game of the season. Their big 6’4” QB was district newcomer of the year as a sophomore last year they have a nice 6’2” receiver that already has an FBS offer. They may have finished 2nd in our district last year? I think we would get Frisco High in the second round. They were 10-2 last year. Their district loss was to Lovejoy and their playoff loss was to SOC by 11. They don’t run it exclusively but they also run this slot-T-ish type offense the majority of the time. If we somehow got through that we would most likely get preseason #1 Longview. Absolutely brutal but there’s some decent history of Houston area teams making deep runs and even to title games in region 2. So yeah, we won’t see a single pushover. I actually think it would be easier to make a regional final playing from the second spot in our district.
  24. I really wouldn’t be. BU eventually has to play closer to their ceiling. Who’s to say PNG won’t need a few games to get things ironed out? Our first two games under Coach Prieto in ‘19 we couldn’t even get lined up, much less try to beat somebody. I mean, maybe the new head coach and OC at BU are the key?
  25. Lol, first thing I noticed beside Stepp and Coach P kind of look like brothers is how much his interview skills have improved since the Riordan days. Bravo on continued perfection of your craft. Stepp mentioned he talked to Coach Poth who’s probably my favorite coach on the staff. He does very well with this generation of kids but still coaches in the trucker hat with the Pony cleats and Bike shorts style. If Crosby has another great year or two and the defense plays well I don’t think he sticks around much longer because he would probably be offered a head coaching job somewhere. I hope he stays at least a couple more years though, because Coach P has given him access to some legit personnel. Like Coach P said, we’re young on defense, but I bet most of those kids played in at least 10 games last year. I’m very interested to see end product he produces. I think Crosby may have the personnel for the defense to be ‘14/‘15 level over the next two years. Coach P said Crosby’s offense would be “dynamic” bringing back 7 starters including Myles this year. He also mentioned he has two “hard-running” underclassmen backs this year and that our TE(H receiver in Crosby) has taken a big leap forward. Translation, all of them will be on the field. I’ll say this year’s team probably won’t be like some of the “spread you out and run past you” Crosby teams you’ve seen in the past. I think there’s a good chance the Crosby offense averages over 300ypg rushing this year. Listening to the district teams being named off I went and looked at when we play everybody and realized Crosby has a tough schedule the last five weeks of the year. Not because of the opponent but because we probably won’t play a game within 30 points. Crosby’s average margin of victory over the last two years of district play has been 31.6ppg and we’ve done ok but we’ve also never seen a first round opponent like we’ll see over the next two years.
