Dude, he went to 12 freaking semifinal games during his time at Calallen. He DID dominate Austin as well as San Antonio. Not to mention Central Texas teams like Brenham whenever they were moved into region 4 with them. He took out a 14-0 College Station team in the semis after they hammered PNG with RJ in the third round. All RGV school are usually out in the first round so they not just "beating up on them", they made their hay in the playoffs whipping up on schools like Alamo Heights and Beorne Champion which have demographics similar to Barbers Hill.

Spring Westfield hardly loses any district games, is a certified Houston powerhouse and has 0 state championships. They pile up a bunch of wins in a district that's often suspect outside of the other Spring ISD schools. Are the Meekins brothers not great coaches? I mean, they've beat North Shore more often than anybody else in the state besides Katy recently. A bunch of those schools Calallen was beating in district play, especially when they were in 5A, would've hammered the average SETX team.

That sounds like you don't even research THSF? He's beating the kids down there WITH the kids from down there. If you put him in region 3 and give him Crosby's kids or put him in region 2 and give him South Oak Cliff's kids it's a completely different story. SMH. Coach Prieto came from CC Vets which is a great Coastal Bend program now, they haven't been to the semis out of region 4 since the school opened though. However, with Crosby's talent he was able to win region 3 in back to back years. Those Joe's absolutely matter. For most of the past 20 years you could've taken those good team down in Corpus and they would've mauled BH and most of the school around here on a regular basis. The "barrio" comment I made wasn't about the school's location itself, it was in regards to people on this board that think certain schools have fallen off because of the growth in the Hispanic population. That's literally 60% of what Danaher had to work with down there, yet he gets knocked because he couldn't beat schools like Manvel and La Marque on a regular basis who had 5X the talent he did. Guess what, the reason Calallen was playing those schools is because NOBODY IN REGION 3 BEAT THEM EITHER.

He is just the HFC/AC but I think that's a lot less stressful than what he would have to deal with being the AD at PNG. He just took Tomball to the semis even after a 4th place finish in district play and has some studs coming up. The facilities are better than PNG's and he makes more money than PNG is probably willing to pay him right now, plus he's doing it on the big stage in 6A. Dude literally got almost as far away from The Triangle as he could while still being in the Houston metro area, I doubt he's coming back before retirement which is probably 5-10 years away for him.

We'll see how the new coach works out at Cedar Park but right now as far as I'm concerned all we have to do in the D1 playoffs is get past Manvel to make another run to the dance. Over the next two years we'll definitely have the personnel to do it too.

I think if AJ plays on the d-line it's because we need him to, meaning we're "short" bodies on that side of the line of scrimmage. I think Coach Poth wants to play fast and be able to rush the passer from the interior, AJ is more of a run stuffer at this point in his development which is why you saw him play so much against Liberty Hill. I think he has potential 4-star ability at guard though, kid was moving furniture considering he was a freshman. I think Langley is going to play d-end which has been his more natural position since I've been watching him in little league. Awesome athleticism but he needs to little more of that dog mentality his brother has if he's going to be the Tyler Cooper type player we need him to be next year. I think a lot of the personnel placement will have to do with who we get in free agency this offseason too though.

That's totally fine with me, both divisions have their advantages for Crosby. Moving to D1 puts us in an easier district and back to our more traditional opponents. Also cuts down the average district trip from over an hour to less than 30 mins which is awesome as long as we don't have to go to Port Arthur.

Lol, just say you didn't watch Calallen play Aledo in the title game. He's been there twice though. No he's never had the talent to win state, name me the last Corpus Christi school that did? You think all those coaches in The Valley suck because they can't beat the Austin and San Antonio powerhouses in the playoffs? I guess there's something wrong with Westerberg and Gage too since they have six titles between them but couldn't win one in 10+ consecutive years at BH. I mean, other guys won titles at BH?

The western part of their attendance zone is more well to do than the eastern part of their attendance zone but per the Texas Tribune demographic study about 50% of their enrollment is classified as "economically disadvantaged" which is why I said it that way. Pleasant Grove in east Dallas has similar demographics and is a relatively decent area but that's how "some" posters on this board would still classify it.

Makes you wonder how much of an impact Riordan had? Not that he was the reason they were winning but him coming to Crosby in 2012 coincides with the start of their slide, SS' offensive numbers took a serious downturn in the following years. Meanwhile he's been a winner at both places he's been since and put up some serious offensive numbers. BF's offensive skillset may be exactly what SS has been in need of? SS has some title history, much like Chapel Hill did before Riordan took over after they went 13-40 the previous five seasons.

You're saying the superintendent should've gone to him and said, "Look, I know you've been here 10 years, made nine straight playoff appearances, had seven 10+ win seasons, have three undefeated regular seasons, four district titles and have been to the semis two times(first in school history) but we're going to go a different route because you're not winning titles"? Let it go dude, Buchannan, Dodge and Surratt aren't the only great coaches in the state. Lol, well I guess those guys are as dumb as I am? IDK what number district in the region PNG will play from so you can't really lay out a path for them yet but just breaking down the possibilities of the other 30 or so teams in the region I came to the conclusion that PNG could get to the 4th round before they ever see a ranked team next year, much like Crosby's run this year. Not to mention there's a good chance PNG comes into the season ranked in the top 10 in D2 themselves. I don't think PNG beat any odds last year. They lost their rivalry game, which sucked, but looking back those other losses were pretty solid if you can call a loss solid. I said before the playoffs started last year that 3rd place would have an easier go of it than our 2nd place team would. Montgomery was ranked but I was at that game, PNG was better from whistle to whistle and looked like a more complete team. I think BF got outcoached in the TC game but what he was able to do in that Montgomery game is the reason he leads PNG in wins now. I agree that if it goes south it's on the adults though. I wonder what the same people that wanted BF out will say when you come into the season ranked, expecting to at least reach the regional semis but instead go 5-5?

Not fast at all. PNG doesn't have near the talent level comparable to their classification that Carthage does. Plus, Surratt already makes over $150k at Carthage and I doubt PNG can touch that. They would probably feel the same way BH does about Westerberg and his titles at Allen.

Well, hopefully PNG really does have their guy. I would like to see our current staff stay together for at least a few years but I've been concerned that we could lose Coach Poth if a solid job came open. PNG kind of seems like the ideal for him.

FB Marshall is the only "tough" team in the entire Houston area left in 5A-D2. That benefits PNG right now. You're right that 7A will probably get schools like Texas High into 5A-D1 but eventually you just have to beat people. Ned probably shouldn't have been lining up with Foster and George Ranch but it was Marshall and their 1,400 kids that did y'all the worst. SOC just won 5A-D2 with 1,400 kids. The "benefit" for PNG right now comes from the quality of the programs they get to avoid, Crosby, Manvel, Foster, Angleton, etc. Not because they get to avoid Houston Madison who has 300+ more kids than them but PNG would probably hammer anyway.

Ok, didn't know they made changes from last time? I posted that because the last three realignments I went and checked had the numbers move just like the '20 realignment even after the UIL supposedly updated the preliminary numbers. I was mistaken when I said Jan. 3rd for the last update on the '20 realignment, it was actually Jan. 30th just four days before districts came out on Feb. 3rd. Before this past season even ended with another semifinal run I think the consensus was that the '22 team would be even better? Ahead of realignment I was going through looking at who would be coming back and got very excited about the receivers, which we bring back 3 of 4 who've combined for 61 career starts between them. That's a huge deal once you consider the fact Myles is coming back to throw it to them too . . . Then I went through the potential o-line and started thinking about playing in December. Crosby won't be 6A for at least four more years but we're dang sure going to look like it next year. Myles might be the recipient of Cotton-level o-line play, or dare I say even better than what Cotton had. The latest UIL update last realignment was January 3rd per their website. I'm not exactly sure what numbers or sports they updated but I find the preliminary vs actual update they did in December. Never a good time to lose you coach, unless you want him gone, but right now would be an absolute awful time for PNG with the upcoming realignment. A lot of y'all are talking about what PNG can or can't do RIGHT NOW but are failing to look forward, like to February 3rd? Outside of FB Marshall and Liberty Hill, who will probably be moved to region 3 this realignment, who else would you point to in the southern half of the state in 5A-D2 that would be a hands down favorite over PNG next year? Maybe one of the Corpus schools in the semis? They already beat Montgomery who's losing their entire offense anyway, Brenham isn't what they once were, Huntsville is probably about to slide some and you watched a team you beat last year donkey stomp FB Marshall in bi-district. I said it four years ago when it happened but splitting 5A was a Godsend for SETX and other areas of the state where the growth is slow to stagnant. 6A is 6A, 5A-D1 is JV 6A for your growing suburban areas about to move up to the top class like Crosby and BH. However, 5A-D2 is made for schools that just opened like Lake Creek and ones that have "mature" populations like the SETX and East Texas 5A's. I'm not saying PNG can win state or even the region but it's a mistake to think that they shouldn't be extremely competitive for the foreseeable future. Same goes for some others.

Makes sense. BF was the person Riordan called to ask about the Crosby job when he was coming from Sulphur Springs. I’m sure Riordan was the first person BF called and probably got recommended by Riordan seeing as how that job would’ve been his for the taking.

Lol, I wish it would've been as easy for my grandparents. My grandpa was born in 1906 to a freedman, you really don't want to go there. Your story sounds like a fairytale. Our difference in understanding is the reason I cheer for the underdog in the hopes sports can change their lives and elevate them above the stigma you so clearly expressed. It's not February yet though so back to hoping Coach P isn't interested in going to Pearland and seeing who Crosby will donkey stomp on La Porte's sideline next year.

Everywhere that a large percentage of the population lives below the poverty line is going to be dangerous, especially with the ease of access to weapons. Baytown has some good neighborhoods to live in but they also had 5 murders in December alone. Even when your community is relatively safe like Crosby you can still end up with a situation like the three bodies they found yesterday. Galveston has some rough areas but I'd much rather be caught there than Texas City, La Marque, Hitchcock or parts of Dickinson.
