  1. Even with him AND #20 having huge days it took Crosby falling apart with a two td lead in the fourth quarter for them to come back. Went and re-watched the game and there's a number of "simple" things that Crosby could've done to have it not finish the way it did. The main one is Crosby being up 8 points with a few minutes left and allowing LH to recover an onside kick and eventually score. To compound that Dunn fumbles at the 50 yardline on our last drive in regulation when it looks like we're about to go right back down the field and score to seal it. Coach Poth's most recent stops have been at Rudder and Marshall respectively but he's originally a South Texas guy and has seen plenty of the slot-t when he was the DC at Somerset. I think we'll be a lot better prepared this year.
  2. These are the “official” numbers right now. The UIL will revise them later. These were the official cutoff numbers per their initial release during the last realignment. You can see the “official” cutoff is 1,899 for 5A-D2. Once they revised the numbers the cutoff moved to 1,921. [Hidden Content]
  3. The known opt-ups are also already listed in the most updated DCTF snapshot article
  4. All they did was release cutoff numbers. With Crosby only being two over the projected limit I doubt we go D1. Look at the projected cutoffs after the last snapshot numbers were in versus where they actually ended up. The projected cutoff number doesn't account for the opt-ups. Per DC's snapshot list there are 13 opt-ups to 5A-D1 and two opt-ups to 6A meaning Crosby's enrollment will be pushed down 11 spots and highly likely back into D2.
  5. I knew what you were referring to as a "diamond". Just letting you know Coach Gaston's version of a diamond might be living on Lake Houston in Crosby vs living by the HL&P runoff on Lake Dutton in Beach City? Crosby's is always going to seem to get the better guy because we have more talent for X coach to win with. Coaches come to Crosby because they think they can win big and boost their standing in the coaching world. BH hires guys that already have a high standing but want a bigger payday, those type guys and the egos that come with them are not always the perfect fit at their new destinations. One thing that would make BH a a more favorable job than the money is the talent they're probably about to get once they build that new subdivision that's supposed to double Mont Belvieu's size when it's completed.
  6. Neither was TC's and they scored 28 on us. Nobody is bragging about anything dude, just stating the facts. You can see more than once in the prediction thread I said TH's offense isn't that good, yet and still they were held 29 points under their season average. Appreciate you stating the obvious though.
  7. I'm not near as nervous as last year. Last year I thought we had virtually no chance of stopping them, that offense was a machine. They're just not as potent this year. I also have more confidence in our new DC this year, Coach Poth would've called a shutout in a regional final if our dbs would get their heads around to the ball. I don't think we're better in the front seven than last year but I do think we have more of an advantage in general than last year. We actually did pretty well against their offense early on before they started throwing it on us which is what I would imaging they're working on this week too. On the offensive side of the ball I think our coaches are licking their chops. LH's defense isn't just bad, it's pretty awful. Their offense is their best defense. If Rouse or AH had any type of running game they would've both dropped 50+ on LH. I think Jones and Myles are going to have all types of space to run in and you can look at the passing numbers against them the last couple of weeks and see their dbs/scheme are very conducive to actually covering people. Long as we play clean I don't think LH's defense is going to have much success against us at all. Plus, time after time it's being proven that our coaching staff is better than what's across the field from them.
  8. Just to be clear, Crosby was making the playoffs 15 years ago as one of the smallest schools in the district. BH actually won the district one year as the smallest school. There are a lot more "exceptions" to that rule than you think. Just off the top of my head I think about FB Marshall, SOC and Lucas Lovejoy. Heck, LH is growing but only had a stated enrollment of like 1,385 when they made the semis last year.
  9. A big part of the reason the coaches are "quality" when they're here is because of the talent. Another reason is because the administration gives them basically free reign over their staff. Flannigan learned how to coach talent while he was at Crosby but basically Jeff Fisher'd our offense and never really won the town over. He got run off after making the playoffs the last six consecutive years he was here and I think took some learnings to his next two stops relating to how that happened and avoiding it in the future. All in all though, even though he was a good upstanding Christian man he just wasn't very well liked. Riordan to me was the easiest hire we've made. You just went and got the guy whose offense was responsible for beating Dayton in a state championship game. At the time we couldn't even beat Dayton in district play. I think he also had the fastest and smoothest transition. But again, he had an NFL running back among the other boatload of talent when he got here. The talent run from 2012-2017 under Rio was sick at Crosby. We were broke and I believe we had a search committee that recommended us hiring Prieto? Similar premise to the Riordan hire though. Go find the best available offensive coordinator to fit the talent already on campus. CC Vets was down there lighting it up in the Coastal Bend under his guidance and Crosby is doing the same now. You can't just go hire head coaches and expect similar results as their previous stops. You have no idea who the coach can bring with him/who wants to come with him? Lots of times those coordinators play a huge role in the HC's success. Crosby had a similar talent level to where our past couple of coaches came from. BH doesn't have a talent level comparable to any of the places their last three coaches came from. You also have to realize what you think is a "diamond" is based on your experiences and viewpoints. Someone like Willie Gaston, who I think is the hottest coordinator on Houston, probably isn't going to see job opportunities the way you do.
  10. It’s crazy that Texas High is 23-0 the last two years against everybody in the state except Crosby. TH had the Huntsville level defense we though we would face last year against the Hornets.
  11. Lovejoy is a good team but didn’t have personnel that could win matchups offensively and their defense isn’t very good at all, especially on 3rd and 4th down it wasn’t. They played 10 yards off SOC’s receivers and consistently gave up chunk plays. They don’t have a very good rb and their qb can’t get away from pressure like ours would be able to. They’re probably going to have trouble with LCP’s defense next week.
  12. Well, we’ve waited all year to play for another state championship.
  13. Crosby had a lot of pre-snap penalties that kept us behind the sticks on some of our drives and helped the TH defense but I can still probably count on one hand the number of defenses I’ve seen play Crosby like that. We couldn’t see y’all again until the title game with the predicted realignment but I hope we do too. I think Crosby got a lot more respect last night winning a 14-7 game than we would’ve winning 62-42 again. Nothing but respect for y’all.
  14. @AggiesAreWe Looks like you were right. I was going to say it after the DR vs Longview game last week but Longview scored a lot of those points late so I still wasn’t sure. It does look like it’ll be CS vs Paetow for the 5A-D1 title though.
  15. Lol, so you just read my posts and skip over everything else in the threads? Doesn’t make any sense, otherwise how would you know “the way I talk about Crosby on this board”?
  16. Lol, you’re lying about “following the board for many years” then. Anybody that’s been on here for a month would know Crosby’s playoff history.
  17. Looking at the Liberty Hill offensive personnel #21, who came in as a freshman last year when the FB broke his leg, has taken the place of their big stud back #42. He’s very good but he’s not at the level Blake Simpson(#42) was yet. #6 is the secondary back similar to #20 from last year who also graduated. He’s nowhere near as fast as #20 was but he’s bigger and runs more physical. They’re highly dependent on Noah Long(#21) this year and don’t look to have the balance they did last year with that senior heavy squad at the skill positions. The slot-T is our kryptonite but LH is a little smaller on the o-line than they even were last year and as dominant as our front seven was last night I’m not going to doubt their ability to handle their business. LH’s defense isn’t very good but if we have multiple pre-snap penalties and compound those with holding calls like we did against TH then we’re probably going to make their defense look better then it actually is. Rouse and Alamo Heights had great days throwing the ball against them in the last couple of rounds and don’t have near the run game the Panthers will have to defend against Crosby. We should be able to get the offense back on track this week if we play as clean as we have been before last night.
  18. I’m just going to leave this here, hopefully I won’t need a defibrillator this year:
  19. Man, Crosby and these two point conversions this year:
  20. Crosby only scores 14 points in defense of their regional title . . . and will still be playing in our 11th playoff game the last two seasons next week. *Crosby also sets a school record with 12 consecutive wins in a season.
  21. Just noticing on the pre-game runouts that Texas High is a lot smaller than AMC was, hopefully that benefits us tonight.
  22. Yep, that’s exactly why XOM is building a multi-billion facility in GP’s attendance zone that will create about 2k jobs and using local contractors to do it.
  23. Wow, didn’t realize Coop had 16 sacks. 29 total sacks between Coop and Casey this year: [Hidden Content]
  24. Lol, we can play defense like we did last week and be just fine against TH. TH’s offense is nowhere near the level of AMC, especially at the LOS. What are the mediocre performances against the average teams? We’ve played two one-score games in the last 11 weeks. One to BH who took out #2 FB Marshall in the area round and one to AMC who probably has the best offensive line in our class outside of SOC. Those teams are very similar and not good matchups for Crosby. Texas High is just a slightly better version of Texas City IMO. Very pedestrian on offense and try to out-athlete you on defense. AMC’s coach also has two state titles under his belt. I don’t think TH is coached at the level AMC is either, the DC looked like he had no idea what was going on last year and this year we have even more kids that can make you pay.
