  1. Smh, I see I need to go get my waders. The fertilizer is getting deep in here. I’ve gone from carpool driver to having a CDL and a charter bus in 4 posts😑
  2. Lol, you’re not really hurting so I would have to give you a special discount and charge you double.
  3. Guys like this who do 10X more than what is required in their job description is one of the reasons why I love THSF so f’n much. If y’all have seen my posts over the last decade you’ll easily get the sense that I cheer for the underdog for reasons a lot of the people on this board take for granted. The kids that go to BH and PNG will be fine regardless of how football works out for the most part. Well, that’s not the case for the kids at Vidor, PAM, BU and to a good extent Crosby. Coach Bear(as we called him at Crosby) was our DC when I was in high school and the guy directly responsible for getting people in the right positions and ultimately allowing them to maximize their potential and play at the next level, regardless of our overall team performance. I’m biased but two of my classmates who played for him and were in these type “football got me out” situations were Johnathan Bradley who was the reason I transferred to Texas A&M-Commerce after getting kicked out of South Dakota State and my cousin Stephen LaSalle who’s now the head freshman coach at North Shore. They’re both doing very well because of those degrees football got them that they probably wouldn’t have had otherwise. We sucked my senior year but Coach Bear put together what was probably the nastiest defense in the district and got multiple guys to college despite the record. He’ll never know how he’s appreciated at our beer drinking sessions where we get together and lie about what we did in high school but I’m here to tell him he is.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
  4. The larger East Texas schools have gone the route a bunch of the Golden Triangle teams have in the sense that they just don’t have the talent they did 15-20 years ago due to population shifts. One of our players’ mom is from Dangerfield. After the game she came up to me and said, “Dang, we might have to play Marshall now. They were always tough when I was in school.” I told her, “You’re 40 now, we’re good”.
  5. Nah, I think I’m going to Cypress to do some scouting. Plus, I’m the one in the family my uncles call when they have “car trouble” because they know I’m going to the game. Their cars always seem to work when the game is less than an hour away though🤔
  6. Man, it's taking everything in me not to agree with you and just come out and say this should be a 63-21 mauling. I mean, Marshall has put absolutely nothing on film this year to worry about. Their defense is decent but if their offense is going to give us extra possessions because they can't move the ball consistently then how long can that defense hold up against our offense, assuming we play like we're capable of? They're smaller and slower than the Texas High team we destroyed last year so unless we come out and lay an egg I think we should comfortably make it to Thanksgiving weekend.
  7. Yeah, but I'm pretty sure 1-800-555-ROJO is disconnected right now. They're going to have to do something they usually only do once or twice a year and that's play above average defense. PNG should feel very comfortable in Stallworth, that's almost like a homefield advantage over Montgomery who I'm not sure has every played there?
  8. Link to Rudder vs Marshall bi-district game:
  9. What I've noticed about PNG lately is that whatever you see in quarter one is usually what you're going to see in quarter four? Good thing about that this week is PNG is probably going to move the ball on Montgomery with relative ease. It's going to be about playing clean, finishing drives and getting three or four crucial stops on defense. NDNation already pointed out that Lake Creek dropped 45 on them a couple of weeks ago and they just beat a mediocre Nac team by 14 where I think PNG would've blown them out. Oddly enough this may be one of the few times where BF loading up the offense with the athletes may be more beneficial to PNG's chances of winning than spreading them out since there's not much chance of them stopping Montgomery anyway.
  10. Appreciate it. Whenever BH played Crosby a lot of BH posters wanted to point the big day Herndon had against us. Dropping back and throwing bombs isn't a sustainable offense against decent teams though, especially once it's on film. I was a lot more impressed with BH's o-line and their ability to create space for those 5 and 6 yards runs that were killing us from Holdren and Hagler and thought that would be repeatable against almost anybody on the schedule given BH's personnel this year. BH only scored 14 points in the second half but controlled the ball for most of it. Even when you don't score, making us stand there for extended periods of time is killer for offenses like FBM and Crosby who like to get out and run. It makes stuff like penalties and turnovers a heck of a lot more impactful than if we got into a shootout. On the film I had seen FBM didn't look as impressive as they did at the line of scrimmage as they usually do. Because of that I said "If I'm Abseck I run the ball a combined 40 times with Hagler and Holdren". Well, Abseck said "Hold my beer" and ran it FIFTY TIMES between the two. Herndon has one catch for 13 yards and BH plays their best game of the year, who would've thought? Good luck against Consol., BH will be looking in the mirror in this one. Hopefully y'all pull it out so we can re-match it.
  11. If you have an NFHS subscription you can watch sever of their games on demand.
  12. One issue I see with the A&M-C matchup with BH is that they’re big one the lines of scrimmage and they’ve got a few fast guys at the offensive skill positions. Good reference game for PNG and BH to watch is the Consol. vs Montgomery game, see those fast Consol. kids I’m talking about and you can see Jalen Washington do work against the Tiger defense. Lee Fedora has a couple state titles himself so you know they’re well coached. Lol, you may see this same game in the 5A-D1 playoffs next year.
  13. I’ve been watching film of this Marshall offense and I tell you what, I’m not sure it’s better than Houston Madison’s? Their defense is probably close to Texas City level though. Marshall is the area round reward you get for winning district in split division. Hopefully Crosby comes out and handles business accordingly.
  14. If PNG had any kind of defense you could almost pick them in this game. Montgomery wants to hand it off 40+ times on you but if PNG can get plus performance from their front seven they might be in business. IMO though, that scheme PNG runs isn’t conducive to their personnel. It sets up perfectly for Washington to have a 35 for 275+ and 5td day.
  15. Yeah, but the guy you just lost to is 3-0 against it, including 2-0 at Crosby. He just beat you with a lot less talented team than he’ll have next year. Vidor has never put 60 on Crosby with that offense and has had four tries, what does that tell you in comparison to your talent level vs LH who’s had one opportunity? The blueprint is to get kids like Calallen or SA Wagner has at the line of scrimmage so you could at least lose in the semifinals. Otherwise, you revisit things like I said in my earlier post.
  16. Key word there is “championship”. Even though your things they would PM me about calling you I do agree whole heartedly that LH would’ve played Aledo closer than we did with that style of offense. Crosby played exactly like Aledo hoped they would.
  17. Gotta love SETXsports! Good luck to your Indians, they’re in very good position to take another beatdown from my Cougars that first Saturday in December.
  18. They absolutely did. Now turn on the film and look at LH on the offensive and defensive line. They’re completely different in their class vs what Vidor is in theirs, not to mention the level of athlete they have at other positions. LH gained about 400 kids this past realignment cycle, they’re going to be close to a 6A school playing in 5A-D2 the next two years. They’re not anything like Vidor’s situation.
  19. Good season Vidor, can’t call it great because no matter the Pirates history when you play from the 1-hole you need to win your playoff game, period. Injuries suck, but they’re a part of the game and if you’re going to run that type of offense then those rb injuries are going to be waaaayyyy more impactful than the will be for other teams. I’m sure one of your Pirate fans can correct me on the particulars but I’ve been on here since 2011 and I don’t remember Vidor having a defense as stiff as they did this year in a decade? I don’t care what your history says, you hold Jeff Riordan and those level athletes to 25 points you’re supposed to win the game, period. Much like when Liberty Hill won their state titles, Vidor is the big boy on the block now. Weeks ago I talked about Vidor at the line of scrimmage and if you go back and look at the two long runs CH’s qb made, that’s where Vidor lost it. Even when the Pirates were bad in 5A they had better offenses than the one they do now on the regular. If you can’t drop down a class and consistently put 35+ on hood competition then it may be time to revisit what you have going? Y’all aren’t the little kids trying to make up for a talent deficiency anymore.
  20. Wait a minute. You mean to tell me you think that “Screwed Up Click tour” comment was as awesome as I did? I didn’t think many of our posters knew who that was? I don’t have a Facebook but that was definitely the post of the year in that group from what my cousin told me. That guy is right though. I wasn’t high on BH beating FBM until I saw the FBM vs Madison game. FBM won the game 56-0 but what I saw was a team prime for the picking. Think about it, BH just beat the #2 team in the state but was three points away from a catastrophic result against Dayton. PNG is an overtime loss away from finishing second over what turned out to be a 10-1 Texas City. The district makes our records suck but boy does it get us ready.
  21. Don’t worry about the defensive statistics in this one, first team to 50 wins. PNG is going to be severely tested at the line of scrimmage this game. Jalen Washington is sitting just shy of 2,000 rushing yards and he has a solid o-line to run behind. PNG needs to play clean offensively and they’ll need to have their best tackling game of the season or those Montgomery backs will make it a slow and painful transition to basketball season.
  22. I think this one is going to be a low scoring defensive affair. Both offenses have had games where they’ve scored some points but I don’t think either offense is good enough to have much success against the others defense. I think you’re liable to see a 23-17 type game right here. This is your classic game that’s decided by a turnover or special teams error/TD.
  23. Nah, as far as the legendary ISD stadiums in THSF Stallworth is probably top five. Any time you get a chance to bless it with what would be a game of that caliber, you do so. It would probably also be the location of an all 12-5A-D2 regional final too. Prior to that you drop 10,000 people in there Thanksgiving weekend though. NRG can wait until the semis.
  24. That’s called “snow-flake ball”, we don’t play that over here in 12-5A-D2. You take your whipping and move on to the next week. In GP’s case “next week” involves free throws.
  25. Black Friday at 6pm. We’re going to ride out to Lufkin and show Marshall what that real SETX pressure feels like, y’all handle y’all’s business and we’ll meet you on Archer.
