Atascocita 21 North Shore 31/Final
Cougar14.2 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
That’s the issue, you’re pointing out a player like Ryan Grant who was a two star at Westbrook, busting his butt and getting to the league is on him later. The handful of elite players he had in his time there versus the 10 FBs recruits he has on his roster at any given time at ‘Cita is obviously a game changer for any coach. Atascocita does not have better players than Allen and he went up there and beat them. For as much talent as you think Westbrook has where are all their sought after recruits on the line of scrimmage where the games are won and lost at the 6A level? That Dickinson team you’re talking about is one of the best in the Houston area yearly in that regard and produces D1 recruits at those positions on the regular. The reason the ‘18 team can make it to the title game with less talent is because all those teams that beat them in the past play D1 now except Katy. If Stump is an overrated coach because he couldn’t compete for titles at WB then there are a bunch of overrated guys who’ve actually won titles because they didn’t compete for them at other stops in their careers. -
Galena Park is not good but they have a little talent, run the slot-t and will probably be on a seven game winning streak when they take on our third place finisher. If TC/PNG come out stagnant on offense and miss a couple of assignments on defense it could turn into a lot more uncomfortable game than it looks on paper.

Atascocita 21 North Shore 31/Final

They made it to the 6A-D2 regional finals last year. It’s not some shocker they beat Allen. There are several unranked 6As in the DFW that wouldn’t be a shock to beat their top ranked teams. -

Stump has some good offensive linemen at Atascocita. He has more talent relative to the class than he did at Westbrook which is why he was able to go over there and start winning almost immediately. North Shore produces high major prospects at every position on the field regularly, Atascocita does not. He has a lot of talent but he doesn’t have the same type kids coach Kay does. Only a handful of schools do. Stump was at Westbrook 7 years, tell me what team he lost to in the playoffs that he should’ve beaten? Dude was losing to Dickinson, Pearland and Katy who all have more talent than WB does. Look at Reginald Samples’ record at Dallas Skyline, he couldn’t make it past certain teams either but you give him a few more pieces and Duncan like is a title contender every year now. Sometimes we think we’re working with more than we actually are. -

Beating Allen is still extremely hard. My buddy’s son plays rb for Allen so I happen to follow them pretty closely. Prosper played them the same way last year and just came up short. Not that I’m some big Stump fan but Atascocita never did anything before he got there. He’s also working with way less firepower than Coach Kay. When you say he had talent what is that being compared to? When I look at Westbrook they do have a good amount of talent but when you compare them to all of the good schools they have to compete with in 6A-D2 it’s kind of middle of the road. -

That was me, and at the time I said that Gavin Sessions wasn’t hurt. Sessions is worth a lot more than 10 points vs his replacement. There’s no way Atascocita would’ve beaten Allen without him. On the other hand North Shore has been playing the freshman qb off and on all year so it’s not near the deal with their qb getting hurt in warm-ups. -
Texas City 49 Port Neches-Groves 42/Final OT

You would get Galena Park and their slot-t. It’s the one matchup I was worried about our district losing outside of FBM. PNG should blow GP out but GP is kind of physical, they’re kind of fast, their defense is kind of good and that offense is kind of hard to stop. If PNG has an inefficient night on offense and GP can shorten the game on them they might be in trouble. -
Tried to tell y’all earlier in the week: Manvel - 33 Paetow - 28
-
We’re not. We’re looking at the best offense in the district
-
Well, I just figured since Crosby had Dayton 49-0 at the half that the best offense in the district would at least have them 50-0? BHfan said they were playing 8th graders which would explain it though.
-
Not in any way to impact the game. It’s not blowing over there in BH either.
-
36-0, not all of the starters dressed out. We got freshman scoring though
-
Does BH have the starters in? I figured the best offense in the district would have a lot more than this at the half.

Happy Snapshot Day to You and Your's

Wow, Manvel stays in 5A-D1. Not much relief for 9-5A-D1. I think BH is safe in D2. BU looks like they’ll probably be safe in D1 too. -

I guess that's from the re-zoning article I was reading? If that's the case then FB Willowridge's numbers should be up to. -
You're first post was probably right though. PNG will struggle to break 20 tonight IMO. PNG's run defense is bad and TC runs it pretty well. PNG won't be able to run it on TC and TC's pass defense is the best in the district. It probably won't be over as fast as Crosby but Indian fans may be in for another long night.

NM, was looking at the other divisional cutoffs

Nederland 22 Kingwood Park 35/FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Even with the backups Crosby would crop dust whatever that was that Nederland put on the field last night. Crosby has only played one competitive game since district play started and our starters need reps. With another bye week coming up in the first round, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Coach P play the starters all the way through the third and try to put 70 on Nederland. -
La Porte 10 Goose Creek Memorial 0/FINAL

I just thought both teams were playing championship level defense? At worst I figured nobody had been updated the score. Turns out it’s door #3 where two suspect teams just combine to make each other look competitive. -

Looking like Crosby may get three consecutive bye weeks. -
BH has run 547 offensive plays this year, FB Marshall has run 220. Chris Marshall has probably only played on about half of those and still has those type numbers. Imagine what his numbers would look like if FBM had attempted 202 passes like BH instead of the 69 they have. Good observation but all stats aren’t created equal. If they were we would be talking about BH having a better offense than Aledo.
-
Chris Marshall has 11 tds on just 13 catches and averages 35 yards per catch. He probably has only played in the second half twice this year. Think about the numbers he'll put up once they target him 10 times in one game like they will in the playoffs. Banks averages 17.9 yards per rush and 27.1 yards per completion. One of their starting rbs averages 17.1ypc. Overall they average 13.2ypc as a TEAM. They've scored 58 offensive tds with their starters playing the equivalent of about 5 complete games. The 395 yards per game they average, which is what I think you were alluding to, has to be taken with a grain of salt because of how good their defense is. That's what I was pointing out on whey BH averages more offensive yards than Crosby but Crosby averages more points. FBM could average over 600ypg in that district but the games are over at halftime so there's no need.
-
State ranked teams are in here talking though. Why is Lumberton even on the thread?
-
FBM by 20+. BH may not get a single stop in that matchup? Against the more competent defenses their main source of points seems to come off the deep ball. FBM's best position group is usually their offensive line but last year and this year it is looking like their dbs. Crosby struggled to throw it against them last year with Herman AND Kirkwood out there so I think BH would have the same issue. They also run a more simplified route tree than Crosby. I think BH would hold their own on the offensive line but it would be hard for them to find any consistency in the running game, Hagler isn't the same type of game-breaking back you need to beat them like Branch was last year for us. I think they would end up in a shootout with Montgomery and have a good chance to win though. I would put the line at BH +10.5 against Texas High, they're Texas City with a better offense. I think BH could get TH too but they would have to play their best defensive game of the year. *All these observations are subject to change if BH pulls another PNG against TC a couple of weeks from now. Heck, it might change if they struggle with Dayton this week.
