  1. LMAO, says the guy who literally hangs on every word I post. Y'all are 5-4 and a non-factor as usual, I promise you nobody is thinking about BH. That's why we're posting playoff threads talking about Madison, Marshall and FBM.
  2. Yeah, spent way too much effort tryin to explain why we played down to BH that night. Looking at how there's a good chance BH will finish .500 or below, I don't think you can describe it as anything other than that. BH might finish the season without beating on playoff team outside of an HISD school.
  3. I don't think Marshall's offense is very good so there's a chance we get Rudder in the second round. Would much rather to play Rudder since the game would probably be in Cypress versus a Marshall game probably all the way in Nac again.
  4. Lol, Crosby had 16 first time starters. Eight on each side of the ball. Thank you so much for posting these stats and proving my point to the other Carthage guy. Carthage wins with defense. I don’t care who you had out, same way you feel about you guys is the same way I feel about Myles limping around for a whole half and having to play a backup, who’s not even the backup now, at times. Ask PA Memorial and Barbers Hill what it’s like like to face him in the second half while he’s upright? You don’t feel like it would’ve been close and neither do I, and we were the ones who were actually up 17-0. I’m not going to reply to the Carthage people again because it’s a never ending saga, I know that game nearly three months ago now is still the high point is y’all’s season.
  5. Yeah, I guess for everything except the slot-t? Y’all keep middle school records out there? Prieto’s son plays qb for one of our middle school teams and we were smashing people 64-0 with running clocks but I bet if UT offers him $300k he’s gone? Couldn’t tel you the first thing about s record either. Maybe Surratt is a different type guy and prefers his kid to play against a lower level of competition than what he could have while he was living on the water in Lake Travis? If Surratt stays until his son is gone he’ll be almost 60. Bye the way, it’s a lot easier to “adjust” when you have the most talent in the class. Ask Tom Westerberg.
  6. Crosby will play Houston Madison in the 1st round, they’re locked in 4th place in district 11 even after they lose to FBM this weekend.
  7. They’re giving up about 10ppg this year and gave up less than that last year. I didn’t feel like going all the way back through but in the recent title years it looks like they only gave up 20ppg twice. Colleges don’t hire you to come run a pro-style offense. If that was the case Gary Joseph, who runs the best pro-style offense in Texas, would’ve been the most sought after guy in high school. You must not watch much high school football if Carthage’s offense is the only one you’ve seen like that, Katy has 9 titles running it. I definitely don’t keep up with them though, haven’t checked a single one of their scores since they played Crosby unless is comes across High School Scoreboard. They're not winning because of the offensive style, they win because the other schools they play that size have a talent deficiency. Colleges are looking for innovation like Briles and Morris brought, not the guy who’s going to line up in the I formation and hand it off or run play-action. When Texas hired Traylor he was coming off a 950 point season at Gilmer and seen right up there in the mold with Briles and Morris. I’ve never seen a coach turn down a 2.5X pay raise so he could continue to live in East Texas.
  8. I have those little magnetized football pics of my sons stuck to a file cabinet in my office. Random dude, who turned out to be a vendor, walks in and looks at them and says, “Man, y’all whipped our a$$”. Had never seen the guy before so I asked where he was from and he said Port Neches. Long story short we talked about ball for about 30 mins. Dude was knowledgeable as heck. He played for Burnett and I happened to mention I thought BF was a pretty decent coach. Boy, that was the wrong thing to say. If you paraphrase out the expletives he basically said PNG isn’t playing with any honor or pride, and used the Crosby game as an example. Also said the tradition doesn’t matter if the kids that are playing now weren’t alive to see it. I mentioned that because the gist of what he was saying is that PNG doesn’t have the same type players they did when he was there 20 years ago. He said he thinks the kids are just a lot softer and the only way to get different results is with a different coach but said the last thing he would do is get rid of BF because you don’t know what you would get as a replacement.
  9. Crosby has wrapped up at least a share of its 6th district it’s title in the last 8 years and will be guaranteed to play from the pole position once the playoffs starts. This will be the second of three consecutive bye weeks for Crosby so it’s hard to get a feel for what personnel will be on the field Friday and for how long. In a game like this I fully expect Nederland to come out firing on all cylinders, the only issue is that they opted for the inline three banger this year and the parts are obsolete. Therefore, they’ll be battling KP to see who can finish in 6th place. Under the circumstances it’s kind of hard to know what to expect other than Crosby will be trying to make it out as healthy as possible. *I know Ned didn’t need and probably didn’t even want a thread but since y’all beat us last year . . .
  10. Dodge and Rhoades were specifically who I was thinking about when I said that. You can throw in the BH coaches too though.
  11. Most of his success at TCU came prior to them joining the Big 12 in the WAC where TCU and Fresno St. had the most talent in the conference in a average basis. That success is why he got to keep his job even though half his season in the Big 12 he’s finished at or below .500. Outside of Boykin falling into his lap because he didn’t want to play receiver his only other plus season in the Big 12 was one year after Kenny Hill transferred from A&M. There are plenty of coaches who’ve won with three stars. Those fans in Baton Rouge will realize that the first time he loses to Mississippi St.
  12. First two calls LSU should make are to James Franklin and Mel Tucker followed closely by Ryan Day. My fist call at TCU would be to Seth Litrell to see if I could get him on the cheap. Patterson recruited my cousin Christian Matthews hard coming out of Arlington Bowie and the reason I kept hearing about why he wasn’t landing more kids from the area was because of his style of coaching. His next job probably won’t be at a power 5 school unless they just want his recruiting ties.
  13. Crosby usually turns their number in on the Monday after snapshot day so I would imagine we see where we fall today or tomorrow.
  14. UTSA is paying what they need to retain their guy. There's Texas oil money in San Antonio too and that type of contract wouldn't be approved by their donors if they didn't have it, plus they line themselves up for a nice payday if he decides to take another job. Prior to Traylor's contract at UTSA there were already about 15 group of 5 guys at $1.5M+ and 5 at or over $2M so that's not really all that eye-opening.
  15. Why, there are 30 coordinators in the power 5 conferences who are more qualified? See the job Aranda is doing at Baylor, Smart at Georgia and Tucker in Michigan State. Everybody isn't Art Briles, most are Todd Dodge and a few are Chad Morris. Briles, Traylor and Morris were offensive wizards at the high school level. Surratt is more like Gary Joseph and Joey McGuire where defense was the main basis for their success. Patterson was a defense first guy and just got fired.
  16. A college assistant job would probably move him. You can get $250k just being a position coach in a non-power 5 conference. The money is probably the only thing that initially moved Traylor from Gilmer, he was making $350k when he left Texas.
  17. That’s the issue, you’re pointing out a player like Ryan Grant who was a two star at Westbrook, busting his butt and getting to the league is on him later. The handful of elite players he had in his time there versus the 10 FBs recruits he has on his roster at any given time at ‘Cita is obviously a game changer for any coach. Atascocita does not have better players than Allen and he went up there and beat them. For as much talent as you think Westbrook has where are all their sought after recruits on the line of scrimmage where the games are won and lost at the 6A level? That Dickinson team you’re talking about is one of the best in the Houston area yearly in that regard and produces D1 recruits at those positions on the regular. The reason the ‘18 team can make it to the title game with less talent is because all those teams that beat them in the past play D1 now except Katy. If Stump is an overrated coach because he couldn’t compete for titles at WB then there are a bunch of overrated guys who’ve actually won titles because they didn’t compete for them at other stops in their careers.
  18. Galena Park is not good but they have a little talent, run the slot-t and will probably be on a seven game winning streak when they take on our third place finisher. If TC/PNG come out stagnant on offense and miss a couple of assignments on defense it could turn into a lot more uncomfortable game than it looks on paper.
  19. They made it to the 6A-D2 regional finals last year. It’s not some shocker they beat Allen. There are several unranked 6As in the DFW that wouldn’t be a shock to beat their top ranked teams.
  20. Stump has some good offensive linemen at Atascocita. He has more talent relative to the class than he did at Westbrook which is why he was able to go over there and start winning almost immediately. North Shore produces high major prospects at every position on the field regularly, Atascocita does not. He has a lot of talent but he doesn’t have the same type kids coach Kay does. Only a handful of schools do. Stump was at Westbrook 7 years, tell me what team he lost to in the playoffs that he should’ve beaten? Dude was losing to Dickinson, Pearland and Katy who all have more talent than WB does. Look at Reginald Samples’ record at Dallas Skyline, he couldn’t make it past certain teams either but you give him a few more pieces and Duncan like is a title contender every year now. Sometimes we think we’re working with more than we actually are.
  21. I got Angleton on penetrations . . . Never mind, that’s next week. PAM’s only focus here should be getting through the game healthy. Bi-district will be completely different than anything you’ve seen the last seven weeks.
  22. Beating Allen is still extremely hard. My buddy’s son plays rb for Allen so I happen to follow them pretty closely. Prosper played them the same way last year and just came up short. Not that I’m some big Stump fan but Atascocita never did anything before he got there. He’s also working with way less firepower than Coach Kay. When you say he had talent what is that being compared to? When I look at Westbrook they do have a good amount of talent but when you compare them to all of the good schools they have to compete with in 6A-D2 it’s kind of middle of the road.
  23. That was me, and at the time I said that Gavin Sessions wasn’t hurt. Sessions is worth a lot more than 10 points vs his replacement. There’s no way Atascocita would’ve beaten Allen without him. On the other hand North Shore has been playing the freshman qb off and on all year so it’s not near the deal with their qb getting hurt in warm-ups.
  24. You would get Galena Park and their slot-t. It’s the one matchup I was worried about our district losing outside of FBM. PNG should blow GP out but GP is kind of physical, they’re kind of fast, their defense is kind of good and that offense is kind of hard to stop. If PNG has an inefficient night on offense and GP can shorten the game on them they might be in trouble.
  25. Tried to tell y’all earlier in the week: Manvel - 33 Paetow - 28
