  1. That's probably some kind of base salary. Prieto probably makes around $125k. Riordan was making right at $134k when he left three years ago. [Hidden Content]
  2. This post is a little misleading. Crosby didn't play backups late, they played them entire halves in two of those games while PNG played the starters the whole time. It was 49-0 at halftime against Dayton and the backups were coming in in the second quarter. Dayton probably only had 100 yards of offense at halftime, ALL their points and 70% of their yards came against backups. Against KP it was 46-7 at halftime, it was 60-7 after three quarters. We played backups the whole second half. Again, 6 points and about 70% of their yards came in the second half against backups. All the points PNG gave up came against their starters. BH is the only legit comparison on here. What he didn't highlight was that PNG is +37 in those three games and Crosby is +92. That's a pretty big gap, especially considering if Crosby would've played their starters as long as PNG had to in the Dayton and KP games they probably score in the 90's against both of them.
  3. Well, luckily the only time the defense from the BH game showed up is against BH. Defense really just played two bad quarters in that game though, they held them to 13 points in the second half. The defensive starters for Crosby are probably only allowing somewhere around 20ppg. I agree keeping Myles upright is a must. As for the game the only reason I think it might not be a blowout is because it's on the Reservation. Otherwise I think the score would be worse than it was last year in Crosby. Being on the road in that type of environment against a team playing with house money is a dangerous situation but luckily we had the BH adversity to prepare. PNG gets down 17 points to us like they did to KP, Reservation or not, that's probably checkmate.
  4. They are and I did, but Dayton decided they would go and Dayton the situation up. I had faith they could go in and at least execute at the level they showed the last couple of weeks but when you're still trying to find you way you're going to have the peaks and valleys like they still do. If anything is funny though it's the TC vs Crosby predictions coming from Nederland last week.
  5. Y'al are not going to hold BH to 12 points. Texas City scored more than that and their offense is very mediocre. BH's game doesn't seem to be able to travel past the Trinity and their coaching seems like it may have gotten worse, all things considered, but they are still clearly the better team talent-wise and I'm betting that will eventually show. Once you get on that personal foul train it's tough to stop it, I've seen it with Crosby, but with everything to play for I think BH scores 38-42 points and does just enough defensively to get the W.
  6. Never saw them hit one crossing route against a wide open middle, continually tried to force it deep all night when Hagler was averaging 14ypc. The way PNG was playing off and still bailing, IDK why Holdren didn't just take off and run for 20 yards on almost every one of those deep attempts he was forcing.
  7. Coach P probably made that by himself his first two years here. I believe his wife works for the district also so I would say we paid in the $375k range which is still a heck of a return when considering he has us on track to repeat last year's run.
  8. I watched the BH vs PNG film yesterday and how BH didn't score 60, IDK? Terrible game by their offensive coordinator. I tried to watch the KP vs PNG film to see how PNG compiled those yards but the defense was so bad by both teams I just turned it off sometime during the second quarter. Trahan had a great day against KP running the ball but I don't think he'll be much trouble for Crosby to stop. Didn't want to get a false sense of anything. PNG's defenders were literally running up to the KP players and even really trying to tackle them, just running up close to them and stopping. The defensive end "sets the edge" but lets the back run right by him on the zone read every time. PNG's db will be nowhere near the Crosby receivers on most plays, IDK what the goal is of that 4-2-5 they run with limited d-line and linebacker personnel?
  9. Well, you could've told them how you really feel? To be fair though, they have purchased two district championships. One in '11 under Gage and one in '19 under TW which helps bring down their average to $1.5M per title.
  10. Depends on where the enrollment cap moves and if they re-zone more kids to Sterling? If nothing changes they should be right at the cutoff though. As those young subdivisions around GCM start to mature you’re going to see their enrollment rise pretty quick over the next few alignments. I was told the GC admin were trying to keep all of their schools 5A but IDK how far out in front of that they actually are though?
  11. IDK how the district coaches ruled on his eligibility? For him to still be on jv after six weeks means there might be some hangup with his PAPF? Not sure why he wouldn’t be playing varsity otherwise? Pretty sure he can come back, the brothers we had transfer from CE King in ‘15 were ruled ineligible by the district committee and we’re able to go back to CE King and play.
  12. It’s disappointing that you can’t highlight your kids and staff’s accomplishments without the comments inevitably devolving into something like that. Seems like if you don’t end your post with “. . . should be a great game” that you’re calling them inferior.
  13. We actually had a kid transfer to GCM this year, not sure if he was eligible or chose to play for them though? He’s one of the kids I thought would be a stud receiver for Crosby this year too. Man, if Crosby can get their hands on this young running back out of GCCISD though . . .
  14. If Crosby wins this game they will basically be assured a share of the district championship, we would need one more win and have Santa Fe left on the schedule. If Crosby wins at PNG and BH wins at Nederland, Crosby would for all intents and purposes be two clear of the district with two to play considering we would have the tie-breaker over Texas City. We could focus on trying to keep the starters healthy over the next couple of weeks and building some more depth heading into the playoffs. As fas as the game itself, I don’t think Crosby is going to do anything to hurt their 57ppg district average. I’m more interested in how we look defensively on the road in a tough environment late in the season. PNG isn’t as good as any of the playoff teams we would need to beat to get where we’re trying to go but I think the environment mixed with the effort we might possibly see will be a great test nonetheless.
  15. If I could pick BH to win on penetrations I would. That being said, give me the Eagles by 1 point. Ned has more experience in recent years than BH does playing these crucial late season games but BH is still the better team on paper. Paper doesn’t matter right now though. Coach Abseck needs to show his chops in this one because I think coach Barrow will definitely have something for him. Those long rides out to Mid-County are never easy and BH didn’t play well in their first one. Let’s see how they play with even more on the line this week.
  16. I was trying to tell everybody at the beginning of the season that the offense was going to be legit even with Branch and Dunn gone. It’s amazing how that came to fruition once we stopped playing Carthage, Manvel and PAM. Offense did look great last night but I don’t want to put too much on beating a TC team I don’t think is very good. TC is not very good at the line of scrimmage when compared to what we will see in the playoffs. For instance, look at some of that Montgomery vs Consol. game last night.
  17. That’s why I was asking you what film you watched to come to that conclusion? TC didn’t look good on either side of the ball against Nederland. Ned’s offense was just awful that night.
  18. Fun fact: TC had only given up 44 points though six games before Crosby scored 57 on them tonight. Could’ve and really should’ve scored 70+ tonight but had one td called back for an illegal shift that had no impact on Kirkwood beating the double coverage and another for a holding on a screen pass BEHIND the play, smh.
  19. Not sure what some of y’all were basing the close game comments on but to reiterate your question from the prediction thread; no I never expect TC to be able to compete with Crosby. I always say it but there’s a difference between making picks off of emotions vs actual film. P.S. - Please go take out Nederland next week so we can coast to a DC. BH will have everybody in Crosby pulling for them next week. Hopefully y’all don’t collapse or have discipline issues🙏🏾
  20. It’s always tough to come play on The Reservation but with PNG giving up 40 to a pretty bad KP offense I like our chances a little more. Crosby will come in next week looking for help from BH to solidify at least a share of the district championship with a Cougar win at PNG and a BH win over Nederland.
  21. Crosby came in averaging 57ppg in district play and we get 57 on what we were told was a good defense.
  22. If Crosby could cover that little play-action roll out that Carthage killed us with TC might not score the rest of the night. Lol, so much for the “close game” and “good defense” crowd. Crosby probably has close to 300 yards on offense already
  23. I know they did, we had to face them the very next week. Point is y’all scored 0 and Crosby scored 37 on them the week after. Meaning that I don’t think TC holding Ned to 0 offensive points last week will have any bearing on how they match up with Crosby like some of the other posters do.
  24. New Caney is pretty good this year. The problem is that they have Longview, Denton Ryan, Highland Park and College Station, who have all won titles in the last five years, in their region.
