Absolutely need to update it. We’re nothing like we were under Coach P’s offense and Coach Poth’s defense. In past years we pounded away on them, with this coaching staff we run the scat back right up the middle 15 times.
-
Absolutely. Worst performance I’ve seen since we lost to Ennis like 15 years ago under Flannigan. If it wasn’t Ennis think the last time we lost to 5A team by this much was maybe Dayton in the playoffs. One night Dayton killed us Flannigan told Stewart “Good game.” Stewart told him “Yeah, but I would win it all if I had your kids.” This is the level of coaching we have now, maybe. We stay on this path and the participation rate will nose dive just as I said they would if this happened. This is HISD level stuff.

Man, this is Kevin Flannigan level coaching. Maybe it works other places but it doesn’t/didn’t work in Crosby. Hard to go expect kids to win a football game when the head coach tells them “This is nothing more than a glorified scrimmage.” Kids are like “What coach, we’re playing FBM?” Smh. Definitely a different program. I’ve never seen a Crosby team so unprepared to play and we had a rough first month under Prieto. Defense doesn’t have a clue but hey, the DC was highly recommended by a state title winning coach. Pushed out the old guy that actually had some skins on the wall. FBM ram the same play CEK did last week and for the 2nd week in a row we cover three WRs with two DBs. Our DT was killing their center, FBM probably rolled 50% of their snaps back to the QB. He had time to pick it up and still run the play every time, no pressure sent at all. Maybe that’s what you do in scrimmages though? When we hired him I said in order to be successful in his system you need to be elite on the o-line like CP was. That’s why this system struggled in Tyler even with SEC talent in both sides of the ball. What do we do? Magnify the issue. Crosby is out there lining up double TE, one WR split with two backs. Depending on the alignment you can tell what play we’re running. Your 1st team all-district RB from last year just blocks and runs decoy routes now, Crosby should’ve gotten shut out but the backs switched positions for one play and he scored from about 50. Again, maybe this was scrimmage coaching as they were told? It’s just bad football all the way around. One thing for sure though, when you hire an old coach set in his ways nothing is changing. Kids don’t even play with any emotion, tough to watch. I’m just hoping for the seniors they can make the playoffs. Last time I had a son that was s senior Crosby’s playoff streak was broken. Looks like we’re on the verge again.

Crosby (7) @ Fort Bend Marshall (56) - FINAL
Cougar14.2 replied to jdawg03's topic in High School Football
This is going to be worse than last week. Completely unprepared to play. Trying to be positive about the coaching but when we hired Willis I said his style of offense wasn’t conducive to the type players Crosby produces. Going to be tough to make the playoffs with the kids being coached like this. -

Galveston Ball (10) Texas City (17)/FINAL

Don’t let last year’s record fool you, they play in HISD’s district. Plus the 5⭐️ safety transferred to IMG Academy this year. I am glad to see some excitement down on the island though. -
Dude, all of those teams suck. Just get the “I really don’t think FB Marshall is all that good anymore” or “FB Marshall really should’ve won” lines together.

I think tomorrow you’ll see the difference between a good program and one like BH. Crosby has 0 advantages tomorrow. New coach that runs an offense 10X more complicated than anything these kids have ever seen against a coach’s program who has one of the best records in Texas the last 5 years. 8 of the 11 starters on FBM’s defense alone already have FBS offers, most of them have P5 offers. Crosby only has two kids with P5 offers. We’re playing in Fort Bend this year instead of Crosby where we barely won in OT. We only brought back 9 starters of a 4th place 6-5 team, plus we’re on the way down in general. No reason we should have any chance in this one. I’m actually surprised you’re only picking them by 14?
-
We’ve actually been to Jerry World though. Only time you’ve seen it is when the Cowboys are playing. We do what I think we’re capable of tomorrow and I’m going to go ahead and clear off the Thanksgiving calendar though.

Just for reference Seven Lakes was 1-9, they’re the worst program in Katy ISD.
-
Never mind about the social media and chatty part. FB Marshall players fired up the social media smoke yesterday morning and it came to a head as Crosby fans tried to leave the freshman game. Fort Bend County sheriff officers earned their OT today.

Jesus Christ, you’re still here?

Crosby freshman impressive 8-6 win in a defensive struggle down in Missouri City. Nice bounce back for the youngsters after losing last week to King by 5 tds.
-
I guess I expected that with all the who's-who teams they cover like Longview, Carthage, Aledo, Gilmer, etc, that there would be more random traffic from around the state checking on them?
-
Two years ago Crosby came to The Reservation and was goal line fumble by my little guy away from dropping 75. Fast forward one year later after making one hire and they're in the title game. North Shore has always been good, but it wasn't until they gave the job to Jon Kay that they reached the level they are now. Duncanville has always been one of the most talented teams in the state but the last decade or so before Samples got there they couldn't even make the playoffs consistently. I guess I may be the only one but I think BU is also one hire away from putting a competitive product on the field.
-
You're right but I see what Izzy is saying too. If PNG is whipping your but then why are you clamoring for bigger games? On the flip side if you don't play those bigger games then how do you expect to raise your level of play? Tough position to be in for BU but at the end of the day they're the ones responsible.

257 guest currently online vs 90 guest out in East Texas, interesting to say the least. Maybe we work less down here?

Third week in a row I've know about the film that was sent over because this is my 6th year having a son who plays varsity football at Crosby. My sophomore nephew got moved up to varsity and my freshman son will be up there next year. So for at least 29 more weeks in a row I will have HUDL logins to view the scout film that is sent over from opposing coaches and posted to the team account for the kids to study. I post things for the Crosby fans that are interested in their team. The reason people see me around town ask "So what do you think about this week?" or "How we looking?" is because they know I do stuff like get up Sunday mornings at 5AM to go sit in the mancave and watch film for three or four hours before I get on here posting what I think about a game.

Yep, looked even worse against King last year and still beat FBM with 6 starters out. You can make 100 posts about how bad we looked and it still won't change that FACT.
-
Only had 18 yards rushing against King last year and still put 207 rushing yards on FBM the next week. Only had 64 total yards against King last year compared to 245 this year, and that’s with the drops. Otherwise, first rattle out of the box the offense puts up 5X the yards and 5X times the points as our offense last year that returned multiple starters including the QB from a semifinals team. Lot different personnel on this team than started the season last year, plus most importantly we’re relatively healthy for now. There’s also a lot of overall experience in this team, a bunch of the kids on the current roster played a lot as sophomores and freshmen during the semifinal run in ‘21. Some of the other seniors like Eudy actually played in the state championship game in ‘20 too. Willis may be a new coach to us but he has a good group year one just like Riordan and Prieto landed with so the expectation is a solid product. Again, I appreciate all of your concern for our program. I know it sucks for nobody to care about your team’s games until you play Crosby or PAM.
-
They don’t like physical football, that’s why we beat them, that’s why y’all beat them and that why BH beat them running QB draws. They’re usually and awful chatty bunch but they’ve been very quiet in social media so far this week.
-
Crosby lost by 56 to King last year and beat FBM the next week after them beating Klein 14-7 in their opener. Same scenario and FBM took an L to a beat up Crosby team. Lot healthier this year and better on both sides of the ball. They should have a huge edge, they’re at home and have 10 D1 kids on their roster. That’s why they’re on Crosby’s schedule.

The scout film they sent over this week is 136 plays and they don't look great on any of that either. You also have to take into account that they played a 6A school over twice their size though. That was their first game out and they're trying to replace 80% of their offensive production from last year. Outside of the times when they had Malik Hornsby and JW Ketchum playing QB their offense has always looked unimpressive . . . until you get on the field with them and understand why they have won 6 of the last 8 5A track and field state titles. FBM beats you with overall team speed and defense and their defense looks pretty solid. Not that it matters this week but Klein probably would've won the game if not for that holding call in OT on 1st and goal from the 4 yard line. Klein can't throw the ball at all but was gashing FBM with the QB keeper. Klein's base formation is pretty similar to what Crosby runs now, what I'm hoping is that they defend us the same way and we capitalize on some of the big play opportunities Klein couldn't hit.

The resources are split evenly and the facilities at the schools are comparable, GP probably even has the nicer on campus facility. I would imagine GP's coach makes more than NS' right now too since Gaston is new. In order to split up the athletes you would have to cut certain apartment complexes and subdivisions out of the center of NS' attendance zone. ISD's are always going to give preferential treatment to the flagship schools, that's why Lamar High looks like a juco campus and Bellaire got a new $140M school while Yates can't get the AC fixed.
