  1. Appreciate it. I think we’re going to be here for a while too. Be glad y’all catch us early next year though, lol.
  2. It sounds like everything had to go right for Crosby pretty much all year to make that date . . . and it did. Now we get to line it up with one of the most storied programs in THSF history. Win or lose I feel like Crosby just answered a bunch of the state’s questions about the quality of 5A football played “around here”.
  3. Slot-T nearly sends Crosby into cardiac arrest. Defense gives up 61 but gets the biggest stop in Crosby football history . . . Sweet Jesus
  4. Again, I’m not coach but I agree with this completely. Better chance getting the stops we need selling out on the run vs worrying about getting beat with the pass.
  5. Two defensive stops has Crosby ahead right now. Problem is that we need two more defensive stops in the second half I’m not sure we can get? See what type of adjustments the defensive staff makes? Not having the 42 points I feel like we should is very impactful right now. Hopefully 70 is enough for Crosby? And I mean “hopefully” as in 70 hasn’t been enough before for us in a playoff game.
  6. Manvel produces big time receivers on the regular. Running the slot-t would take away a huge advantage they have on the outside in the passing game over almost every other 5A team in the class.
  7. Hays lines up in the slot-t but they don’t really run a conventional version of it. For instance, their qb has over 1,500 yards passing in the 12 games he’s played and nobody on the team has over 1,000 rushing yards. QB is 300 rushing yards clear of everybody else on the team with 959 yards. FBM runs a conventional offense and they had 4,291 rushing in 13 games. The way Hays runs the slot-t is going to easier for Katy to defend IMO and has me thinking they might not even score on the Tiger’s starters.
  8. They were doing everything they could in High School Scoreboard not to say they expect Crosby to hammer Liberty Hill but I’m not sure they know Crosby’s history with the slot-t? All that annoying stuff about enrollment numbers and level of athletes 14.2 has said over the years takes its final exam Friday. It took 5 rounds but Crosby will definitely be the biggest and fastest team on the field this game. This is the third and only game of a possible four where it doesn’t feel like we’re playing with house money. If this Cedar Park or Calallen before they recently moved down then OK, but this is one it feels like Crosby kinda should get. Crosby can do a lot for other 5A programs in the area by just reaching the dance, no matter what happens from there on out. *Yes I stole the final exam part from Eazy. I really liked the description.
  9. Crosby has never faced a slot-t offense with the current scheme or quality of personnel we have now. Much like everything else that has happened prior to this year, I wouldn’t put too much onus on it. The same thing you say about Crosby defending the slot-t prior to this year can be said about Crosby defending generally any offense, they didn’t do a great job. Crosby has given up way more points to speed teams in recent years than slot-t teams and beat Santa Fe, who also runs the slot-t, 50-0 earlier this year. I think Crosby has showed most people this year that you can’t put too much emphasis on past years, otherwise we would’ve already given up 40 and lost by double digits in the second round.
  10. That’s a good win over a usually salty Champion squad. Even though Del Valle was 3-6 I still give LH credit for being able to beat a 6A team with their personnel. Giving up 95 points the last two weeks tells me Crosby is in it no matter how good OR bad we defend them though. At one point it said LH had something like 13 penalties for 118 yards with a lot of those being penalties on their secondary because they struggled to cover. Add that to Pioneer’s yardage total and they’re well over 700 also. This year feels eerily similar to when PL Calhoun ran through region 4 with the slot-t in 2013. They were 13-1 and had even knocked off defending champ Cedar Park in the third round when they met Brenham in the semis. Brenham made a run through region 3 which included a one point game with Dayton in the 2nd round, a 3rd round win over 12-0 Texas City and a 4th round win over 13-0 George Ranch. Sound familiar? Brenham had a defensive and personnel PLC hadn’t seen all year. I’m feeling more and more confident Crosby can play that role against LH this year.
  11. Hey, you picked FBM last week and were wrong. Hopefully your streak continues.
  12. Well, it would’ve taken a shootout to beat Manvel earlier this year but unfortunately Crosby was still cleaning their gun. Our shootout with Montgomery was due to their passing game which is why I didn’t want to play Pioneer. I’m not really getting the shootout feeing here though. I think Crosby is going to get some stops and put LH into an unfamiliar position the same way we’ve done the last three weeks with our other state ranked opponents. I’ve never seen this level of defense consistently played by a Crosby squad, that includes the ‘14 and ‘15 teams too.
  13. I think you automatically assume that because it’s the semifinals but George Ranch, Manvel, Nederland, Texas High, Huntsville and FBM all had better defenses than LH whose given up 95 points the last two weeks. True they’ve scored a bunch but I’m also taking into consideration who they’ve gotten to play.
  14. Agreed, and Crosby has a very good chance to come off that list this week. Vidor on the other hand never will. Thank you for pointing our Crosby has a chance to do what a lot of schools haven’t though. May not be as deranged as initially thought?
  15. Lol, please find some “Crosby is the greatest” post from me. That’s part of the derangement, you see things that aren’t really there. Yeah, I’m sure the players don’t like someone taking time out to research their individual or team accomplishments and highlighting that. I see this hurts you worse than BigDog.
  16. Agreed, that’s why I work at a refinery and Coach Prieto is in the semifinals. Somewhere Matthews will never lead Vidor.
  17. I’ve never once called Crosby the Mecca of anything or alluded to our program being anywhere comparable to Aledo’s. That’s stuff you’re trying to crowbar in for dramatic effect. I see you’re struggling from CDS though. Crosby Derangement Syndrome. You’re literally down to the “Crosby has zero state championships” argument now.
  18. Very effective day from Branch. 26 carries for 192 and 3 tds rushing, 6 catches for 71 yards and 1 TD receiving. Hard to find two better examples of “team” players than Branch and Dunn.
  19. It’s definitely a moral victory. The simple fact that you felt the need to ride another team’s jock to legitimize how awful your program has been running it for nearly two decades shows that. Vidor doesn’t have the personnel of a PLC, Calallen or LH who’ve been a lot more successful running that offense. They may not have the coaching either? Keep grasping at what you can though, I would too if I were you.
  20. I’m not really sure we’re going to be the underdog in this one though? Crosby just took out the back to back state finalist by 9 while LH only beat the kids from the border and Eddie Lee by 3. I do think Crosby can use the “Can’t defend the slot-t” narrative as motivation though.
  21. Nobody is constantly doing that, you’re one of the ones constantly saying it though. Again, you’re taking moral victories from losses as you should when your program is where it is. You also run that offense with Vidor’s players which is different than the personnel LH has.
  22. Smh, guy is almost as bad as BigDog with his “end of the road” and “average” comments. I guess when your program is at the level of Vidor’s you take whatever moral victories you can get.
  23. With an even healthier Dunn Crosby can probably get 60 on LH’s defense if need be? How well we defend the slot-t is the only question standing between the Crosby “Cougars” and their first state final appearance. One thing I think Crosby benefits hugely from here is that they’ve seen the slot-t and unlike Vidor’s version the qb doesn’t really run the ball.
  24. FBM had 14 points at the end of 3 quarters, Crosby definitely had answers. Coach Prieto made some adjustments and Crosby put 28 points on FBM in the 4th quarter. Maybe I missed it but I didn’t see Marshall lining up on defense? #3 was playing well but really didn’t start balling until Marshall got ejected. Please miss us with the “actually scored that touchdown”. Jaylen Herman made the catch of the game and got robbed of a TD that would’ve made it 13-0 and give Crosby ALL the momentum, instead we end the drive with a pick because Dunn was limited. Great game, probably the best one I’ve seen Crosby play. Congrats on another great season, I don’t think anybody but possibly Crosby will be able to beat y’all in regional play the next two years. Assuming he doesn’t transfer Jakobe Banks is going to be electric in that offense with basically all of FBM’s weapons coming back. Mix that with FBM’s usual stifling defense and you probably get your 6th and 7th regional final appearance in a row.
