  1. I wasn’t “explaining” anything, I was providing an analysis of a game that’s now irrelevant and why. “Explaining” would be you articulating to me how average teams make it to the regional finals. You must think Nederland is below average since they bowed out of the dance a week earlier?
  2. Smh, you lay out some decent points in a couple post and a guy whose squad probably has a .350 win percentage in our class and runs the slot-T calls it stupid? You’d think they would somewhat benefit from so many homes floating away in the recent floods which allowed them to drop to 4A but they’re still a sub .500 team. You’re going to learn to limit your responses to the Vidor folks and definitely not put any value in their critique of your analysis.
  3. SLC is probably a slight favorite but I'm rooting for Trinity. For no other reason than a Trinity vs Duncanville semi. SLC vs Trinity in the Steve Lineweaver days was an iconic THSF matchup. I think Trinity and Duncanville could be right on par with some of those SWAC games you see played on the SW side of Dallas.
  4. If you can’t tell the difference in the stuff I post and a guy that says FBM can play within 14 points of North Shore or Katy then that’s on you. I’ve drank a lot of Johnny Walker and posted on this site before and never said anything like that.
  5. Lol, get over it? I was over it after we beat FBW 66-0. I see FBM just handed y’all one of your worst losses in program history, I would be trying to get over that if I was you. I know seeing Crosby in a regional final has some extra sting to it for your too, especially now that those fans’ comments that said your win over Crosby in the regular season was irrelevant. I didn’t think that but I guess they were right. A few weeks ago you said, “I hate to break it to you, but Crosby is an average team.” Just wondering what you would call the other 7 teams left playing?
  6. The only top 6A teams FBM could hang with out of the Houston area are probably Cy-Fair and Dawson. North Shore and Katy are probably going to win titles this year, FBM wouldn’t even score on either of those squads and would definitely lose by 30+. Probably to Tompkins by a similar margin. What FBM does even within the class at less than 1,400 kids is amazing. What NS does in 6A with about 4,500 kids is on a different levels though.
  7. Crosby is focused now too. They won’t overlook FBM like they did Nederland after winning their previous 6 district games by an average of 40ppg. Crosby lost to FBM in ‘16 so we’re going to tell ourselves it won’t happen again. I can do that too. FBM is going to line up with the best team they’ve played all year, just like Crosby will. A red hot Crosby team(pun intended) might be a recipe for disaster for FBM.
  8. Shout out to the Cougar coaching staff and Coach Jerry Prieto. In only his/their second year and 26th overall game as a head coach he has Crosby back in the regional finals. Feels like we do it a different way in Crosby now. Looking forward to an exciting finish to the season and even more excited to see what he does with the talent he has coming down the pipe. Seems like Crosby has pretty much hit on all four hires since ‘03.
  9. The reason FBM was a bad matchup for Crosby last time we played them in the playoffs is the same reason they’re a bad matchup now. They play just like us except with better personnel. . . most years. People talked about Huntsville and Texas High having the best defenses in the region but I actually think it’s FBM(I’m of course partial to my Cougars). That speed is just an unquantifiable factor. If we could slowly march down the field like a Ned then like you said, that’s the optimal plan. Crosby throws Hail Marys on first down and doesn’t try to pick up the first until third down some drives. It’s wouldn’t be my philosophy but we’re 4 deep with it so I’ll just keep going to work. I do believe this philosophy plays right into FBM’s hands though. 12-5A-D2 is going to finish the season with at least 6 playoff wins making it the strongest district in the region this year. New Year’s Day Crosby might be able to prove they’re playing out of the strongest D2 district in the state?
  10. Yep, and PNG finished 4th in our district. They scored 14 points on FBM and lost by 7. How does that part fit into your narrative?
  11. There are 16 games on the schedule this week. As a THSF fan if you had a choice of attending any one of them I think you would have to take the Highland Park vs Denton Ryan game? I’m speaking as a purist, nostalgia aside otherwise you might take the experience of a Carroll vs Trinity game. This is hands down the second best game on the docket IMO though. When Craig Way, who’s a Cedar Park homer, doesn’t push back against the take that this is CP’s best team ever you know you’ve got an elite football team about to line up in front of the Mavericks. I think this is Manvel’s best team since the D’Eriq King days, even better than the 2017 team. I felt like 51-15 win over a Foster pretty salty team gave CP an edge over Manvel but the 27-16 win over a Canyon team I think would’ve lost to Paetow has me leaning Homs Hey again. Classic money versus athletes battle for the region and a probable state final appearance.
  12. I said earlier in the year that I though Manvel would play Denton Ryan in the 5A-D1 title game. In the next sentence I said I thought FBM was the best 5A team in Houston regardless of classification. It’s the country boys from the east side of town versus some more of those Mo City kids from the southwest. Nobody from the southern half of the state has figured out how to deal with FBM’s speed the last two years, we’ll see how Crosby fares. One thing in think for sure is that even if FBM has an off night Crosby probably can’t get them by 20. I will say, if they play a first half like they did against Ned they’ll probably be down to Crosby at the half.
  13. Gotcha. The reason we lost to Nederland in 2018 is because our qb was out for the season. My argument is pretty simple though. We’re both 6-1 in district play. Crosby’s average win was by 40, what was Ned’s? First round Ned played the 4th place team and won 37-0, Crosby played the 3rd place team and won 66-0. Area round Ned played the 2nd place team from 9-5A and won 34-21, Crosby played the district champ who beat them 44-0 and won 62-42. It’s highly likely Ned would’ve been shut out by Huntsville today too, terrible matchup for Ned’s run game. I think it was a great season for Ned and for that matter 12-5A-D2 as a whole. Ned posted another 10 win season and probably only lost because they played a back to back to back state finalist. We’re in the 4th round against our 3rd consecutive top 5 team. At some point you just run out of bullets . . . unless you win it all. Someone asked what I thought a good season would be for Crosby. I responded 9-4 or 10-3. I would like to be 11-2 but we’re 10-3 and the seniors are going to be able to say they were co-district champs, won 10 games, knocked off two top 5 teams and went to the 4th round. Hell of a season for Crosby considering they get to play for the region in probably the strongest one in the state. I will say as a handicapper that Crosby is probably +20.5 in this one though.
  14. Yeah, and Nederland lost to PNG who Crosby beat by 40. Ned had their best night and Crosby has their worst, look at the last 11 games on their schedules. Two completely different matchup styles for FBM. Started to get a little incoherent at the North Shore part though.
  15. Crosby takes out 11-0 #5 ranked Texas High and backdoors it with a classic over 11-0 and #4 ranked Huntsville. Now we’re rewarded with 12-0 #3 ranked Fort Bend Marshall. Crosby is probably playing with house money at this point. Hopefully Dunn is healthy enough for us to have a real go at it next week.
  16. Crosby may be the first average team to play for the region since the last time they did it.
  17. Now Eazy, you mean to tell me after putting the grass down there where the goats could eat it you still ain’t have a score? You’re a Huntsville fan but have been on Crosby basically all year, which I appreciate. Problem now is that your heart says Hornets but all the numbers say Crosby. Crosby’s offense has started to play like 2013 and the defense has started to play like 2014, basically a dream scenario as a Crosby fan. I think after knocking off Texas High Crosby has a more favorable matchup than Ned does in the regional semis.
  18. Didn’t you say I was stupid because you thought I was from Barrett Station or something like that earlier this year? Stupid as I am they might be playing PNG? 🖕🏾
  19. Manvel is probably going to win by 20 this time. Hightower’s defense gives up too many points to athletic teams and Manvel has been rolling up 500+ yards of offense like nothing.
  20. Montgomery had a better offense than Nederland and just lost by 20. They were right at 5,000 total yards through 12 games split evenly at 2,500 passing and rushing. Take into consideration they had FBM and Huntsville’s defenses on their schedule, also dropped 52 on Crosby’s defense. Looks like Montgomery had 391 total yards on 60 plays, 196 passing and 195 rushing. Don’t see any turnovers unless they were on special teams? Montgomery’s defense was about a TD worse than Nederland’s on the year though. Kind of surprised FBM was about to still beat Montgomery by as much as they did with Montgomery playing so well. The talk of FBM fading may have been premature. Good luck though, I’m looking forward to a rematch after we take out Huntsville.
  21. As a Crosby fan I’m feeling pretty good about our chances. Can’t have the turnovers and penalties we did against TH but we need to find a way to bring all of whatever else that was in Nacodoches to The Woodlands. I don’t think Huntsville has the same offensive firepower as TH. They’re only averaging about 31ppg offensively through the first couple of rounds which is right in line with their regular season average of about 35ppg. Looking at their schedule, Crosby should have the best defense Huntsville has seen this year. The Hornets will have the best defense Crosby has seen this year except for maybe Manvel, who blew us out. The difference in Manvel and Huntsville’s defenses is that Manvel doesn’t have anybody like Ed Bobino to destroy the interior of your offensive line. There’s even a bright spot there for Crosby as some of the same kids got to line up against him last year as well as the staff game-planning for him. Kind of feels like the first one to 30 may win this one.
  22. Crosby gets an opportunity for a rematch against the team that ended their 2019 season. After taking out #5 Texas High in convincing fashion they have the fortune of playing #4 Huntsville. Crosby is averaging 64ppg through the first two round while the Hornets didn’t give up a point through the first 7 quarter of the playoffs. There were a lot of question marks with the strength of Texas High’s 11-0 record, there shouldn’t be any about Huntsville’s 11-0 record.
  23. Just watching the game it doesn’t look like Pine Tree will score a meaningful TD.
  24. Couldn’t ask for a better location. Same place Crosby beat Brenham in the third round the year they went to the semis. Hate we didn’t get NRG, U of H or Rice for seating purposes though.
