Man, I really think you sit down to pee. You're always the most hurt person on here. I've NEVER one time seen you say anything about the racist innuendo from the PNG guy that always talks about people from Barrett Station. I didn't see you defending FB Marshall last year when one poster was talking about how they "don't deserve to [advance] because the player's parents won't even show up to the games." I don't make disparaging comments about other schools, I respond when people like the Vidor posters continuously bring Crosby up. An equivalent rebuttal doesn't equal condescension, it just melts snowflakes.

Well, my wife is from East Dallas and she thinks the same thing so there's another.

Who really cares about the vibe you get from me? You're not serving me anything, you're posting things others have posted on this site probably 100 times over nearly a decade. Every year the season started under Coach Riordan he said the "expectation" was to get five gold balls and a plaque. Crosby High has been around for about 100 years and has those 29 playoff appearances you mentioned. Over half of those playoff appearances have come in 15 of the last 16 years as the community has changed and about 75% of our total playoff wins have come in that span. Yes, I can see you're not the best at math if you think 2/29 gives you 14%. To compare Crosby of today to what it was when they were the segregated Crosby Buffaloes is a little idiotic though. George Ranch didn't have a history of doing anything, then had a good four year run where they ended up donkey stomping Legacy in the state title game. Now they're back to nothing. Shadow Creek didn't have any history two years ago and just ran though 5A-D1. The school with the best history in the area is probably La Marque and they're nothing compared to what they used to be. Things change, if they didn't HISD schools would still be relevant. I say the things I say because I'm very confident I probably do the most research of high school football on this site. On top of that I actually lived in other parts of the state and country and got to see various programs first hand. Not to mention the insight I get from my cousins and buddies currently coaching at places like North Shore and Odessa Permian. It's pretty stupid to say I'm making Crosby out to be some juggernaut, all you had to do was read my post during last season and you would see otherwise. Long story short, I don't really care if "all you're saying is . . .". If you have any issues with it there are plenty of other boards in East Texas and the DFW for you to comment on. I don't eat sweets but I do appreciate the offer on the pie.

Simple, I don’t expect Crosby to be as good as the ‘13, ‘14, ‘15, ‘17 or ‘18(pre-Howard injury) teams they fielded that went 48-5 over four and a half seasons. I do expect the team to be good enough/strong enough to compete for the region as it’s currently structured with the division splits. Splitting divisions so we don’t get teams like Shadow Creek, George Ranch, Manvel, Foster and Ridge Point in the bi-district and area rounds has been/will be a God-send for this region.

MARCUS GRAHAM HIRED AS BEAUMONT UNITED FOOTBALL COACH!
Cougar14.2 replied to 2wedge's topic in High School Football
I think winning games would be the culture change though. Right now I would imagine kids are playing because of the love of the game and potential scholarship offers. If you can put some pelts on the wall I think you would have kids that come out/become more dedicated just because they want to be part of a winning program. That “filler” is what I think helps to separate our teams from some of the more elite teams in the DFW and Central Texas. Considering the situation he was in I always thought Nelson did a good job at Ozen and to me Ozen was just as tough as some of those HISD jobs. I think it’s a little easier to sell the kids what Nelson would bring versus trying to sell them 0-30. I hope it works out though, we need more powerhouses in this region. -
I don’t do innuendo dude, I say it straight out. The very last thing I care about is your feelings. After Crosby lost to Vidor this year I made my comment and didn’t say anything else for months. MULTIPLE Vidor fans continuously brought Crosby up over and over throughout the regular season, had more to say after a second round playoff loss and STILL were commenting about Crosby until the schedule release. To the point where another poster even pointed it out. Sorry I’m not sorry about you getting butt hurt for me responding. If anything I’m always the one on here defending kids from inner city and low income zones because of other idiotic comments being made on here like there’re superior to those people. Might as well miss me with the bs boomer.
-
Lol, if you do the math you’ll see their neighbor Desoto has signed more kids and has even more transfers in recent history. I would pretty much say the same for their other neighbor, Cedar Hill. Lancaster is also right there with those three 6A powerhouses and robs kids from Oak Cliff who should normally go to Carter and SOC. Those kids in south Dallas move around just like our kids do on the SW side of Houston. The difference is the coaching and level of dedication in the DFW.

MARCUS GRAHAM HIRED AS BEAUMONT UNITED FOOTBALL COACH!
Cougar14.2 replied to 2wedge's topic in High School Football
Smh, I don't understand why BISD didn't hire Jeff Nelson? I know he has some warts and would probably be hard to get by some in the administration but to me you need a guy that fits the culture . . . who also happens to be able to be a solid coach. Not someone who looks at the job and says, "Dang, with this talent all I really have to do is be a competent coach and I can use it as a stepping stone to get me somewhere else." Again, I know he probably wasn't even seriously considered but there aren't any coaches on that list with noticeably better resumes. I will say I may have reached for Tyrone Carter at Huntsville before giving Nelson another shot though. -
MARCUS GRAHAM HIRED AS BEAUMONT UNITED FOOTBALL COACH!

I've said this for years on this site. I think most realize it's true but it always seems to rub the fans of teams a little light on personnel the wrong way. -
You have a football coach that broke a grey area rule and girls basketball coach who had been openly cheating for years get punished by the UIL for violations they brought on themselves. How is that anywhere comparable to groups of kids going out to commit armed robberies and aggravated assaults against the public? If you're talking about being a state championship contender then I agree. Other than that they probably run the cleanest sports program in all of Southern Dallas County.

The "expect" isn't necessarily because of how good I think Crosby is going to be. It's because since the divisions have been split the team that wins 12-5A has at least made it to the third round, mainly due to former 2nd round games being a round later now. With Manvel moving to D1 combined with graduation hitting FB Marshall and A&M Con. very hard, I think a route to December of Waltrip/Galena Park, Lamar Con./Huntsville and A&M Con. is very winnable given the team we bring back. After looking over what all the playoff teams in the region have coming back I would say, if healthy, the only team I would have Crosby a dog to is A&M Con. Huntsville may be good but they lost their three year starter at qb who's also the coach's son along with both of their top receivers. I will say their sophomore qb looks like a potential prospect. Hornsby and Achane accounted for probably 90% of FB Marshall's offensive yardage during the playoffs, they'll both be playing the in the SEC next year and I haven't seen any high profile HISD transfers they usually get so far. Expect is a strong word but I expect Crosby to have a strong team.
-
Basketball team just won the district over Texas City so they might get to play until March. I know it's a little confusing considering Lumberton's football season is usually over in August.
-
Well, the only issue is that you're not a Cougar fan and none of them that read it posted anything similar. I know that may be surprising to you considering Crosby was the town in Harris County deemed supportive enough for the current president to come do a speech/rally in. I guess the snowflakes melt trying to cross the Trinity?
-
I’m sure they would appreciate it. We could finally put in that indoor facility were missing to go with the rest of them.
-
Sure, see y’all on the field.
-
I did and still do think there were better qualified people for the job. Where he’s proving me wrong is him being in over his head. I’m still not overly sold but I’m also not going to keep running the man down when the team was clearly improving throughout the season. We’re not Vidor, we’re not ok with losing to bad teams like Vidor like people from Vidor are. There were plenty of people in the stands expressing the same sentiments, loudly. Maybe your school district should look into renting some extra FEMA trailers so people stop evacuating your town?
-
1. Crosby - Brings back all starters at the offensive skill positions. Lost three very key pieces on the defensive side of the ball but if we can improve overall in the secondary I expect this team to be playing in December. 2. PN-G - Like what they have coming back In the QB. Even with a third place finish they’ll have a good chance to get to the third round with Manvel out of the district. I’m not a huge believer in the potential second round opponents A&M-C/Huntsville after how they were hit by graduation this past year. 3. Barbers Hill - Lost the bell cow in Kaopua and their first FBS signee who was instrumental in grading the way for him, Casey Collier. Heard that Westeberg has another transfer qb coming in to take over the starting job instead of the kid who was put in at the end of the Manvel game. Not sure of the grade or eligibility status so I guess we’ll see. 4. Kingwood Park - 4 of their 5 losses last year were by 28+ points so it feels wrong to put them here but they did beat PAM and they have a returning qb. No matter the district KP usually finds a way to back in the playoffs. I like their chances a little more than Nederland’s. 5. Nederland - I think you’re going to need to score this year in the district and I think Ned will have the worst offense of these top 5 teams. I really like a couple of the skill guys the have returning but I don’t honk it’s enough to keep them from going from 4th to 5th with the addition of KP. 6. Dayton - First year head coach who I really, really think is the man for Dayton as long as he’s given free range over staff hires. They’re going to ruin someone’s season this year and I hope it isn’t Crosby’s. Watch out if their participation rates jump back to where they were this season during the Stewart era, they might still be in he mix for a playoff spot in late October. 7. Texas City - Maybe they flip flop with Dayton but I don’t see anything you can point to as a legitimate argument to move them up. They were outscored 313-122 and will be breaking in a new starter at qb. Coach Surovik’s teams have been grinders since he took over but he’s been a little short on talent lately. 8. Santa Fe - As long as they don’t have another school shooting to galvanize them they’re right back here where you normally find them in the football standings.
-
I think Semaj McCall is going to potentially lead the district in rushing but outside of that TC is kind of a wildcard IMO? They had so many blowout games last it’s hard to gauge them. I think they’ll have a good defense in this district but I’m not sure with the ultra-basic offense they run if they can really win games without the Foreman Twins type talent.
-
Your forgot to point out that we actually did lose the game to an even worse Vidor team in regulation.
-
Like they say, "If you're scared then go to church". I'm just glad we were too broke to get embarrassed by Vidor so we scheduled a layup with Carthage instead. I heard Coach P called Coach Samples at Duncanville but they didn't want any because they would have to pass through North Shore to get to Crosby, I need to firm that up with my sources though. Hard to know how kids are going to perform off a 185 mile bus ride to start the season but if we're healthy I think Crosby beats Manvel for the 2nd time in three years goes 1-0 against PAM in our first ever matchup. After watching Crosby average 50 points per contest in 5 of 6 games to close out the season and with us bringing all our skill players back, I'm expecting Coach P to be able to parlay that into one of the top two or three offenses in the region if not the best. I'm as confident in Crosby this year as the coach who scheduled the games.
-
Same under Flannigan. Pearland Dawson, Atascocita, Ennis and Waco University are some I remember. He just didn’t put forth the the same effort in winning them.
-
Well, you can’t say Coach P isn’t confident. P.S. - Holy $&@!
-
There was a game cancelled/not scheduled when Flannigan was here. Without going back to check would bet Crosby has equal or more rushing yards than Vidor in those matchups. You just put a lot more emphasis on those yards because it’s your Super Bowl.
-
Not butt hurt at all, quite the contrary. Vidor was awful and we lost to them, that was proven when y’all averaged 7ppg the six district games after us until you got to play Dayton. I’ve seen enough Vidor teams to know that before we even played, and as such if Crosby was going to even be halfway decent that’s not one they should’ve lost to. I thought that before the game and outside one anomaly was proven right the rest of the season. Like MBG said, it was your Super Bowl and y’all won it. Congrats! We’ve just watched Coach Rio average ten wins per season over his tenure and Coach Flannigan get fired for putting together seven consecutive playoff seasons prior to that. The way Crosby looked the first 1/3 of the season considering the amount of talent we have should’ve been concerning to all Cougar fans. That was all coaching, including being out-coached by Matthews. Turns out the chef might’ve just been getting used to the new appliances and seems to be a pretty good cook. We’re glad to have him, looking forward to getting my son back from the DFW to come play for him. Appreciate the offering but our kids were never not going to go to their competition. Parents would’ve pooled together or some business would’ve donated but you can guarantee they would’ve gone. I’m glad we’re too broke to ride to Vidor, we get to go to Port Arthur instead.
-
Glad to hear that. Looking forward to seeing who the other two games are? Hopefully we avoid a trip to Corpus.
