  1. Well, today with the loss of Coach Freeman Crosby's football program has officially reached joke status. Don't be surprised if you start to see some of the better athletes move away or just decide not to play for a puppet and .500 records start to be the norm. The previous ties Coach Prieto had with the supt. far outweighed his actual ability to coach which is why he got the job, that and his willingness to probably be the lowest paid coach in the district. Of course no supt. wants to lose but after Crosby goes 3-7 next year absolutely nothing will change because the excuse he'll have is that we can't afford to hire anybody, not that, "I came from a little backwoods town where I thought Joel Hancock would be a good hire so trust me on this one." The record will be better in 2020 because he'll schedule the same type trash he used to play in Corpus so that him and the supt will have improvement they can point to to tamp down the restlessness on the community. Look for Galena Park type schools to be on the schedule. Crosby's football program will effectively be a non-factor while the current supt. is in place and especially putrid while Coach Prieto is here, probably to the point where the season we missed the playoffs for the first time in 15 years is the highlight. Only hope for the foreseeable future is that Crosby can out-talent enough people to finish in fourth. I would be remised if I didn't point out that Crosby fired Kevin Flannigan with about a .700 record over his last 7 years with the team and 7 consecutive playoff appearances. With the trajectory Crosby is on and the yahoo we just hired look for us to digress to HISD level bad in everything except baseball and maybe girls softball. P.S. - I thought it was interesting from an impact standpoint which Rio left that one of the first things kids mentioned about the new coach is that they don't pray in the team huddle anymore.
  2. First off, I couldn't care less what your suggestion is. Secondly, I don't need you to articulate to me how good programs become great. Thirdly, if you think you need a graduate degree to coach at a bigger school you're sadly mistaken. More times than not fast rising coaches aren't going to initially have graduate degrees because they don't need them for the promotions they're in line for. Community support is something people on this board talk about for a program to be good. You ever seen FB Marshall play? They show up with more kids in the band than people in the stands and bust that ass. You need some athletes and a competent coach, see Reginald Samples Duncanville team from last year and what Claude Mathis did to Nederland with Marshall's athletes. Rio was making around $123k at Crosby, Deer Park offered around $140k. You're drastically overstating the offer he couldn't turn down, I've seen a text message from him and that's all I'll say here. If you think the parties just started you obviously don't know anything about the program, we were doing that kind of stuff in the 90's under Coach Dickey. Those have absolutely 0 to do with school funding, that straight out of parent's pockets. How does that correlate to the current financial situation, again you seem not to know what you're talking about? Rio had an issue because the supt. was walking up and down the sideline trying to have input on football decisions, any coach is going to have an issue with that. Beyond that he was trying to make decisions that should be specifically left to a head football coach. UT put together a search committee and ended up hiring Charlie Strong. I don't care how unbiased your intentions are, if better coaches with better track records are excluded because of criteria put in place by a single person then you end up with a narrow pool of candidates and eventually somebody like Jerry Prieto. He had a big time OC job with numerous D1 athletes and got destroyed. Crosby's headline literally only listed his last two years of work because going any further back starts to get sketchy. He's an old guy that nobody else thought highly enough of to give a head coaching job at this point in his career, but since he has a graduate degree and is willing to take what's going to be lower tier pay for the Houston metro he got he job. There are plenty of Rio's I'm sure applied and we end up with Jeff Nations? I'll tell you this, there are a lot better things to do around this area on Friday night than fill the stands for a mediocre team. He wants community support he better win games immediately or he won't have any and start losing kid's interest. It's probably all a moot point though, Crosby can go 3-7 the next two years and the new supt. will be fine with it.
  3. I would also like to give a HUGE thanks to Jeff Riordan elevating Crosby's status in the THSFB landscape!!! Surprised he even finished out the season with the supt. situation as it was. Guy was really about Crosby, I now for a fact he turned down a job that would've paid him clos to what Gary Joseph is making at Katy to come back to what turned out to be a hell hole. Salute Coach Rio.
  4. Well, act one of the train wreck that started with the old supt. resigning and ending with Crosby missing the playoff for the first time in a decade and a half is finally over. Not really excited about the new coaching hire and not sure Crosby will even be a .500 team next year. They'll have the talent to win every game on the roster like they did last year if healthy but other than someone new in charge none of the circumstances surrounding the program have improved. The new supt. changed the hiring rules to exclude some candidates the community wanted and install a puppet. No up and coming coach from outside the community would take this job with the financial situation as it is and his inability to properly staff the program. I don't think we're scrapping the barrel for who we can find to take the job but I don't think hiring Coach Prieto was far from it. He averaged 44 points a game against mostly trash in an area where even though the teams in our district aren't very strong would still manage to do the same. He benefited from working at a start-up school who pulled enrollment from others in the district weakening them much like Shadow Creek did to Manvel, when he was at Cy-Springs it was clear he was in over his head and had his offenses mauled weekly. He resurrected his viability against a bunch of kids named Soto, Gonzalez and Hernandez and the new supt. fell for it. Don't be surprised if Crosby goes back to the days that if the team has a pool party at your house then your kids gets to start, deserving or not. Crosby's only real hope for the foreseeable future is that the area is rapidly growing and they have some special kids in the lower grades about to come through the program. Lot less enthusiasm about the program from the community in general but the kids still seem to be invested which is encouraging. Still have solid transfers coming in from the surrounding area which is another positive. With the right coach I still think Crosby could play with and beat elite teams like Manvel but I don't see how we attain one of those any time soon? From an X's and O's standpoint expect Crosby's new offense to look like what Dayton ran under Hancock and what New Caney is currently running under Pennington so at least there shouldn't be much of a transition for the offensive kids, no clue on the defense. From a community pride standpoint I would really like to give the new staff a chance, from the standpoint of giving my other sons their best opportunity, moving 15 mins down the road to North Shore seems awful enticing now.
  5. Obviously the majority of the coaches in the district didn't feel that way. Westeberg also voted against two of our transfers a couple of years back so he distributes evenly. The simple question is if you already have the game recorded from three different camera angles why would you need to record or take pictures of anything during the game for use afterwards? Ipads take garbage pictures and videos from that distance compared to the shots you get from the standard camera angles, any of which you can freeze to get the same picture you took with the Ipad after the game. For no other reason would you need an ipad in the press box for anything other than viewing something prior to the allotted time. There's little to no chance Faircloth doesn't know that rule exist and with that being said he wouldn't allow it to be broken if he didn't think it helped.
  6. Well, even with this being Crosby's worst season in nearly a decade and PNG having their best player ever they still felt the need to cheat to secure a 3 point victory. You almost have to be sure they cheated to get the last 3 point victory in bi-district last year also. I guess when you're a mediocre coach before RJ shows up you have to do everything you can to maximize your time with him? If you want to argue that point just look at the one year Crosby loses their qb and doesn't have a stud backup, you go from beating Manvel to losing to BH. I would imagine the coaches that are still here figuring out how they're going to pay their mortgages after the season have a lot more to do with the current situation though. Luckily, Westeberg found a way to help to mitigate future arse whippings and decided to snitch on something PNG has probably been doing for a long time. Otherwise Crosby almost certainly misses the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. With us not being able to get anything from the qb position and Lee getting their qb back it's still highly possible that we go 0-2 but I'm hoping these seniors and this staff can find a way to go be Code Red again for at least a few more games. Crosby has been on life support since two series into the Vidor game and thanks to a Bush league move by the honor, pride, tradition, deceit school they haven't pulled the plug on us yet.
  7. The kids haven't had books in a while so I would imagine even being in the hole that we could've spared one of the 1000's of tablets and laptops we have in the district.
  8. Barrett Station is over 60% Hispanic now. This statement would've made sense in the 90's but now it's pretty asinine. I would imagine that only about 20% of the kids we've signed in the last decade or so have come from Barret Station. There is a lot more "mobility" in Crosby ISD now.
  9. Like I said after what I saw last week against PNG. It will be tough for Crosby to even make the playoffs.
  10. I've been trying to do some stuff for out North Americas T/A group and didn't have time to post last week and won't really after today when our Canadian advisors come in. I didn't want to be accused or have any Crosby fans accused of not showing up after a loss. If I didn't post anything I'm sure I would be accused of not taking the loss well also so it's a catch 22. On a side note, I never understood why people think you should be a gracious loser? I want people on my side who are pissed about coming up short to a one man band for the second time in a row.
  11. Nobody on PNG's roster playing wr was better than Jerimiah Rose. It's very hard to get an economics degree if struggle with comprehension and not a single word you used is one I would consider "big". I don't care where you're from, you support WOS. I'm not from Crosby and my kids may go to North Shore for a while but if I post about Crosby I expect replies like from people who are opponents of the team.
  12. You ain't lying. I just paid over $50k to buy me a new tank to fit my head in. It's hard to clean wave grease off the suede in those foreign luxury vehicles. On a serious note, while I was in Vidor I saw your career and technology center a*k*a* the welding shop. Just as a head's up there will be a lot of work happening at Baytown refineries in the next couple of years. Guys will be able to skip the bumper pull and go straight to the double-wide if they have the drive.
  13. PNG hasn't had the best qbs in the area for the past 10 years, I'll give you three. Crosby ran through the squad with the PNG qb that broke the passing records at the time even with the best receiver PNG has had in their history. Every starting qb at Crosby since 2009 except Tristan Cotton has signed an FBS scholarship, not to play qb but that gives you an idea of how asinine that statement sounds. I can probably name 10 kids off the top of my head in the coverage area over the last decade that were better than anything PNG rolled out there before RJ. LOL, you do realize Heard was an elite 11 qb, right? You know you can google this stuff, right? Like I said, if you were a good enough coach I'm sure there was a job that was MUCH more profitable than what WOS was paying you. Nobody thought high enough of you to offer it to you though. There are plenty of coaching jobs that pay what you make now. If you were a state winning player you probably played in the 80's which means you have to be close to 50 and judging from your use of punctuation your current job doesn't involve much literacy. I may not be bringing much but you sure can't stop responding to it.
  14. PNG held Huntsville to 31 points and their defense is probably more garbage than Crosby's. It's a completely different matchup with Crosby and Huntsville because we can run the ball from the rb position and most of our receivers can beat man coverage. PNG solely relies on RJ making plays with his legs to keep the offense moving. A prime example is PNG only being able to score 24 points on TC last year because of how they defended RJ, Crosby probably gets 40+ on them because they would need more than 7 in the box to defend the run game. It's all matchups, especially in the playoffs.
  15. WOS probably has to lowest education standards of any team covered on this board, odd someone from there would be calling anybody else a "meat head". Obviously if you "were" a coach you weren't a very good one if you couldn't sustain a living doing it. Almost everything you said in your post is wrong. PNG wasn't really calling plays fast and they're not physical at all, the rb could barely get out of the backfield until the 4th quarter when Crosby had to play the pass more because of the time on the clock. There is no downhill run game because the running backs aren't good and the o-line is big but doesn't get movement particularly well. Every play that isn't an RPO is a play-action raise up and throw to the primary receiver or take off and run. His eyes always come down which is why he threw that awful pick into double coverage, we would've had a couple more if our dbs could catch. He would get sacked a lot more behind that offensive line if he didn't. If any of that stuff you said was true about PNG's offense they wouldn't have lost to a Tomball team that wont even make the playoffs in their district without him, otherwise your post is saying RJ is the only reason any of that stuff works. If anything PNG has become even more reliant on RJ than they were his sophomore year. PNG ran exactly what Crosby practiced for which is the qb run in about 70% of critical situations, much like Heard if you take his legs away he probably can't beat you from the pocket. I don't think that has any bearing on being great in college but may be reasons that have plagued other run first qbs in college.
  16. Considering what's going on with the staff cuts in the school district I will be extremely proud of these kids if they are able to post another 10 win season. Luckily we can probably just outscore the rest of the teams in the district if we figure out the defensive situation.
  17. The vast majority of those matchups were pre-1999 when PNG was a factor and Crosby was still a stop on 90 before the changing landscape of current times. Efficiency in refining technology caused that area over there to contract and the suburbs to explode which is why most of the 5A schools winning or competing for state championships now weren't even open then. It is what it is, we lost two years in row to one player. If you want to be good that can't happen.
  18. Yeah, and so does damn near every qb in the state who runs a fast paced spread offense. I never saw him audible out of anything that was signaled in from the sideline. Either way "Check with me's" at the line of scrimmage in fast paced offenses are as common as changing the snap count. RJ's two plays are probably "run the play that's called or run it myself", that's nothing like what Card does at Lake Travis.
  19. Once again you keep outlining my point. PNG is nothing without RJ, you say "if" he had all of Crosby's player he wouldn't lose in the first. Yet if PNG didn't have him they wouldn't even make it to the first round to lose. See the difference? I'm not "hurt" by anything dude, I have a great time every Friday night watching my son do his thing win or lose. Crosby has a hard time stopping mobile qbs in general. PNG just happens to have on now just like New Caney, Ridge Point and Marshall did when we lost to them. We have a systemic issue, but guess what. RJ graduates next year and PNG is back to being PNG of the last two decades, Crosby's classes are full of "all those players" for the foreseeable future.
  20. You must not have read anything I said? I just said Card is committed to Texas and is another Austin area golden child like Ehlinger. I said Hornsby was the best prospect out of the state since Luck, none of those other guys are from Texas. Mond is already a sophomore and Hornsby doesn't enroll until 2020, if Foster turns into a player there's no guarantee Hornsby gets any time to develop before he may transfer since they would be so close in age. Like you said, all this information can be googled so why you're so far off on your post is odd? Head didn't call plays for Guyer and RJ looks to the sideline before every snap to get a play signaled in so he doesn't call them either, I have no idea what you are talking about as far as offensive knowledge? Heard started more games on a back to back state championship Guyer team than RJ will ever have a chance to. RJ is still an RPO qb that relies on running after making a single read. PNG runs the exact same offense as Dayton except with a better qb. Being black and having the ability to run is a good comparison, it's the reason about 70% of overall NFL players are black but only about 19% of starting NFL qbs are.
  21. LMAO, we already played Manvel and New Caney who are much better than PNG and didn't "crumble". When Crosby loses their qb it take a Texas commit at qb to save the day with time running out. When PNG loses theirs they look like a jv team with the qb throwing picks to the dude 10 yards in front of him. What you fail to realize is what those kids mean to a team. For instance, Crosby got stopped on 4th and 1 on their first drive which led to a PNG score. We wouldn't have even gotten to 3rd down in that situation with Howard, much less 4th down. We would've been scoring every two or three plays like last year because you would've had to defend the qb running and not key on the rbs like PNG was able to this time. Much like last year with the defense PNG put on the field they wouldn't have stopped Crosby one time unless we had drops or turnovers. I don't care about who graduates from PNG as long as they have RJ, without him they're exactly what they were with #17 back there for that matter what they were with Morse and Rose. I agree though, losing coaches or not Crosby can't lose to one player. We defend RJ just as bad as we defended Jordan Cooper.
  22. I agree. Vidor's past actions/views/comments are the reason FEMA is the only reason that keeps God from wiping it off the map. The trailer parks are even frozen in time like Lot's wife when she turned around to see the destruction happening to Sodom and Gomorrah.
  23. Yeah, couldn't understand that either. It was clear PNG wasn't going to stop Crosby running the ball late, I was wondering why we were still snapping the ball with 25+ seconds left on the play clock.
  24. This kid from Marshall is more Deshaun Watson and has a good chance of being drafted into the NFL, RJ is more Jerrod Heard and might not even finish his career at QB. Amazing runner but he will struggle to throw the ball accurately in smaller windows at the next level, he hasn't improved throwing the ball from the pocket since his sophomore year. In high school he's extremely hard to defend because you have to legitimately play the run when they're trying to convert on 4th and 10. In college you're going to have to go through a progression which RJ still struggles with because there's always the option to pull it down and get what you need in high school. Hornsby is probably the best pro qb prospect coming out of high school since Luck. It looks like Hornsby will go to A&M but now he's going to have to deal with Hudson Card who is another Austin area golden child like Ehlinger coming in one year behind him. I don't think he will be allowed time like VY to come in and develop his passing skills sitting behind a Chris Simms without being pushed by some of the other stud qbs in the room. Then again he could get there and they change the offense to accommodate him?
  25. Nobody in this district is going to beat Crosby because of what they bring to the table on defense. Nederland will need close to 50 to beat Crosby as usual. Nederland's defense has the same level of athletes as PNG but they're just coached a little better but their offense is only about 1/3 as good which you can see from them only managing 27 on BH.
