Lol, the stops y'all missed out on? You mean the penalties we got that stopped us? PNG front 7 is borderline garbage, you see how pitiful y'all looked against without RJ. Just imagine what Crosby would've looked like with Howard if the backup could put up 45 in just his second start. Ned doesn't have RJ to run around and continuously convert 3rd and 4th and longs.

Port Neches-Groves 48 Crosby 45/FINAL

I think what you saw tonight was the first of what is going to be a lot of issues for Crosby sports programs. Due to budget cuts the new DC was let go before the game today. Either way good game by RJ, PNG is nothing without him. Crosby has lost 3 of the last 4 games to what I consider are the good running qbs they’ve played; RJ twice, Jordan Cooper once with the only win coming against Zion Childress. Again, good game by RJ, for the second year in a row he makes a play to carry PNG past Crosby by three with second left on the clock. Backup qb played well enough to beat anyone on our schedule tonight, RJ made multiple conversions on third/fourth and long late Crosby could’ve stopped any one of and won. I’m not sure exactly how many of the staff got let go/are getting let go but I could well see Crosby struggling to even make the playoffs. Even if Crosby would’ve won this game I think with our issues that are going to permeate the district’s sports teams our realistic goal would’ve been going 11-1 this year and maybe just reaching the 2nd round for the near future. I think 10-2 is still realistic and considering the circumstances plus Howard being out I’ll take it. Personally it sucks to have one of your 14’s lose his DC when it looked like he might have it put together and then have the other one completely lose his head coach. What a bleeping day. Congrats PNG fans, no matter how the board views Crosby posters and whatever condition our program may be in, any time you beat us it’s usually a big win for that team’s fans/coaches/program/community. It’s going to be the duty free blue label Johnny Walker for ole’ 14.2 tonight. -
To be honest, even if Howard isn’t healthy I think Crosby’s offense could score 50+ on PNG’s defense with the backup qb. Crosby’s running game is what leads us to most of those points and PNG has the worst run defense we’ve face all year. I will admit it was tough to gauge Vidor’s run defense with the shortened game and the field conditions. Don’t be surprised if this is Crosby’s largest margin of victory to date.

There’s a lot of people talking about a lot of stuff in this thread. I’m personally feeling like after this win for Jasper they have to be the favorite to meet Pleasant Grove in Dallas. I think Jasper would beat Sweeny by 17+ and they’ve already shown they were better than WOS once this year. I will admit it’s hard to beat a team twice in one year though. Bad part for Jasper is that they have six consecutive games on their schedule that they’re probably going to win by 20+ points if they continue playing at the level they have to date. Other than maybe Center, how does Jasper keep a competitive sharpness for the next month and a half?

Yeah, but using that reasoning Crosby beat Manvel while they were ranked higher than A&M Con.
-
I think they’re good but with a healthy Howard I think Crosby gets an easy 40+ on them. Out of all of the favorites A&M Con. was the most questionable becuase they rely heavily on their defense but have to manufacture points on the offensive end. Huntsville is the same way, except with the passing game, which is why I wasn’t surprised when College Station beat them 20-7. When Crosby is healthy the only team I would give the nod to over us in the region is FB Marshall with Hornsby getting eligible, but I also believe Manvel would have an advantage over Crosby on a neutral field.
-
I don’t see the difference in spotting PNG 14-20 or spotting Manvel 21? If there’s anybody in the district not to get down to it’s Vidor with their ability to shorten games. That ‘09 defense didn’t have near the talent this one does and on the offensive side if we scored 28 back then it was a solid night. Crosby was a “run it first with Merk” team back then and the defense didn’t play near the snaps they have to with Crosby’s current offense. The defense doesn’t have to be lights out, they just have to be good enough to turn Manvel over four times and gets us back in it. They have to be good enough to shut down WOS while we make a 28-0 run. Just play well enough against the slot-T that we can overcome losing an FBS level qb and giving up a defensive TD. They gave up 13 quick points last night and then held Dayton to only 14 more while the offense put up 56 to seal the deal before Dayton scored two garbage tds with some subs in there. Defense just needs to stop waiting until the second quarter to start playing.
-
PNG’s defense isn’t very good and Crosby just put up 56 points with the backup qb, and that’s getting off the gas with nearly ten minutes left in the 4th quarter. It’s odd people keep predicting the way they’ll beat Crosby is to hold them below 30 while they win by a field goal or TD?

Dayton with a cheap late td after the Crosby dB gets a personal foul for a kill shot on 4th down

Third string track star running back with the kill shot. -
Y’all are 0-4, you haven’t done it all year.
-
I agree, question is can Dayton keep Crosby from scoring 60 for the second year in a row? Backup is holding his own in there.
-
Dayton goes up 13-0, Crosby finishes the half on a 35-7 run. Defense usually settles in in the second half and offense starts leaning on people with the run game.
-
Even if Crosby mutilates Dayton for a second consecutive year there will be adjustments to be made after the game. Unlike Dayton we don’t do the same thing game after game hoping for different results, play a couple of good quarters, and think the season is turning around. Crosby is 8-2 in first round games the last decade, I would take that for another decade. I’m not anymore worried about Dayton than Santa Fe or Lee, I don’t understand what I’m not answering?
-
Why did you decide to wait until you were 0-4 to bounce back? Was Barbers Hill too tough of an out? I don’t think you’re bouncing back until you play Lee.
-
Barbers Hill is finesse like Dayton. When you’re up big and can’t consistently run the ball or choose not to you end up sometimes letting the other team back in it. Crosby has already rushed for 1,351 yards, and has an even better pass rush than BH who sacked Dayton’s qb numerous times.
-
. . . and they say I’m delusional? Dayton hasn’t scored over 28 points all season and haven’t held anybody to under 31 points besides Galena Park.
-
You have to make adjustments, just like Dayton used to at this time of the season during the Stewart years. Every game Crosby plays is pretty much the other team’s Super Bowl. It’s hard to continue to beat teams when everybody circles you on their schedule. I hope the Broncos don’t disappoint either, I want to see Crosby convincingly put away a team playing well. Crosby is ranked where the people that rank teams feel we should be. Unlike yours, our kids have actually gone out and won every game despite some adverse conditions.
-
Defensive "adjustments" were made this week, new players at new/old positions. Looking at the scouting report there's no reason our starting defense should give up 27 points to Dayton. Crosby is going to eventually have to put a no-doubter together and this is the perfect team to get right on before PNG comes to town next week.
-
Judging from some of the things that have gone on at practice so far I doubt Crosby will be distracted. We're 4-0 but NOBODY is patting themselves on that back after those last couple of performances. Dayton probably gets a little help this week if the staff doesn't let Howard. Hopefully Crosby goes to the power run game early and we start beating people into submission in the first half versus waiting until the second half to make these comebacks. Backup qb is getting reps with the 1's so there should be some improvement in play even if Howard doesn't go. Not to mention what Dayton does on the offensive side of the ball is probably the easiest for Crosby to defend in the district other than Lee.
-
My son told me Jaiden didn't practice yesterday and probably won't play this week. Coach said he doesn't need him against Dayton.
-
That’s when you get promoted from helper to journeyman and they pull up another single-wide behind the one you’re living in and knock out the wall.
-
Nah, we all know the biggest rivalry on this board is Vidor vs Nederland. PNG is going to have to be rivals with Santa Fe.
-
Well, homecoming is here for the Cougars and if things play out on the trend that the season has been going, this one should be over by the time the queen gets crowned but that’s usually not how it works. Dayton received a generational beating in Liberty County last year so I expect the Broncos to come in playing for pride since 0-5 is probably inevitable. Crosby should have the advantage on the sideline and in every position group but Dayton did show sings of life for a couple quarters against BH last week and Crosby seems to have a hard time getting off the bus this year. Still tough to believe this game has lost so much of its luster so quickly.

I’d rather be Crosby finest vs FEMA’s finest. That $2 golf game got the rest of my foursome to cover my round at Cog Hill plus some of my gambling expenses in Indiana last night. I just call it how I see it. Class has to be a relative term to you when shoes are optional and the first thing you see when you come into town is the double-wide display. On a serious note though, I saw the field take out a couple of your players. I hope they’re ok. You’re going to need them against Manvel or Marshall in the first round if y’all make the playoffs.
