  1. I think one of the biggest benefits for Crosby leading into the regular season was making the long ride down to Brazoria county and scrimmaging Angleton. They looked even more impressive physically than Manvel. It helped to see a secondary that looked like that before lining up with New Caney, I imagine it also assisted the staff in figuring out how to play where you literally have no physical advantage at any position group. By the time Crosby gets to district play they will have been on the field with Angleton(currently AP #9) , a very good New Caney team, Manvel(at the time AP #4, 5A-D2 #2) and current four time 4A-D2 state finalist WOS. District play might actually be a relief.
  2. Looking at the district schedule everyone is off this week except for Crosby and Vidor. I expect to see some Dayton and BH fans in the stadium Friday, not to mention PNG's coaching staff. I just hope the Crosby fans show up and are ready to be as loud and rowdy as they last Friday and not try to take a week off because of the opponent.
  3. The difference between this team and the team that played Jasper is that even on a good day we were going to give up 35 points. Manvel is just a completely different animal but against normal teams I think you're looking at Crosby only giving up about 19ppg. WOS has a good running back and what I would consider one plus receiver at the 5A level. However, I don't see the WOS o-line getting much movement on Crosby's front seven and I don't think they'll have much if any success throwing the ball. After Manvel's qb carved up Clear Lake he went 8-16 for 65 yards and a pick against Crosby. WOS offense scored 7 offensive points against Newton and I believe only 12 offensive points against Nederland. Therefore, it's hard for me to see how WOS even gets to 20 points without Crosby turning the ball over? From what I've seen so far Crosby is getting a gift with WOS' qb play, if he doesn't make quicker and more accurate decisions it's probably going to be a tough night for the Mustang offense in general. WOS defense looks good on film but after Crosby's o-line produced three different 100+ yard rushers against Manvel's front I have a hard time finding the numbers that show me WOS can mitigate Crosby's rushing attack. I also think Crosby has an advantage in the way WOS plays man coverage. Howard is going to kill you making plays with his legs if you continuously turn your back to him man coverage. Crosby probably ran the ball for 200 yards between the tackles on Manvel, with WOS playing man and no high safety in at least a cover one you can expect Crosby to do even more damage right up the middle. I think Coach Thompson will have some different things he tries to throw at Crosby to slow them down but I feel good about how our coaching staff has prepared thus far. I don't like Crosby giving up the early scores either but I do like the way Coach Strange has made in-game adjustments, that's invaluable moving forward as the games become more critical.
  4. Remember that per UIL rules games that are show on Fridays are on tape delay, it won't be show live.
  5. I really like Crosby’s chances in this one. Two weeks to prepare for a young team coming off a physical/emotional game that has to make a long bus ride to a hostile environment. WOS looking to be only the second team in five years to come into The Jungle and win. Different time and classification but there are a lot of the older fans looking forward to the nostalgia of this one. WOS’ defensive numbers still look pretty good, but I think WOS is going to need 35+ to win and I’m not seeing how they get it? I would point to NC’s offensive numbers after they played Crosby, conversely I would point to WOS’ numbers against Nederland and Newton. I think Crosby is going to wear WOS down in the run game and Howard is probably the best qb WOS will see whether they make it back to the title game or not. Anything can happen but I feel pretty strongly about Crosby winning this one comfortably.
  6. That’s obviously someone’s mom who created an account just to get that off their chest so I won’t respond. You have it right though Frodo. That’s a game PNG should win even without RJ. People keep pointing to this or that as to the reason PNG lost but at the end of the day it’s simple. From the point the game was tied PNG had multiple 3rd and mediums they couldn’t convert and ended up giving the ball back to Tomball for critical drives at the end of the game. Add to that maybe the worst varsity interception I’ve ever seen where the qb literally threw the ball to a d-lineman standing ten feet in front of him and there you have it. But hey, like the lady said. I don’t know how to play football so that could all be nonsense?
  7. They had two tds called back and only got three points on those two drives. Was going to be between 28-31 unanswered in the second half instead of just 24. PNG easily wins that game by 20+ with a healthy RJ. Tomball will most likely finish 5th in their district this year. I figured Tomball would win this one by at least two tds but I also made the assumption Hunter Dunn would’ve progressed more from a promising sophomore year. Kid looks good on the hoof but couldn’t hit the side of a barn today. Still can figure out why PNG just completely abandoned the run.
  8. If I’m not mistaken, it wasn’t the “Crosby guy” who said y’all were going to win two district games? It was a BH fan giving an honest assessment. I will say though, watching that game IDK how you come to any conclusion that isn’t similar.
  9. Looks like incomplete stats, also wrong score: [Hidden Content]
  10. Dayton still throwing bubble screens, rarely averages over 10 yards per completion anymore: [Hidden Content]
  11. Boy, this one looks like it was a tough watch: [Hidden Content]
  12. I have BH beating Dayton and Lee for sure. I saw some promising things from the defensive line and for what they have to work with BH does execute relativity well on defense. I would give BH a slight edge at home over Vidor, plus BH’a staff seems to be able to defend Vidor’s offens better than other teams. Winning the Santa Fe game is huge for BH in that scenario. Other part to this is that the 4th place team gets Manvel in bi-district anyway.
  13. I don’t know how much pride is really left in Dayton? Small town politics often leads to appeasement, which leads to what you see on the field with Dayton. Sad part is that with the split of the classification Dayton is really set up to be a factor in 5A-D2 region three after a couple more realignments when some teams move up. Instead, they’re going to be a slight underdog when they play Lee for last place.
  14. Man, can you imagine how embarrassing it’s going to be when Dayton plays BH for homecoming and gets abused in Bronco stadium? Good thing there won’t be many people there to see it.
  15. Can’t believe I’m saying it, but I’m going to go ahead and take Lee when they play Dayton for last place.
  16. I think BH’s game with Nederland in a few weeks is going to determine if they get in the playoffs this year. I would say y’all are in good shape because you get to play them at home but BH stadium isn’t really much of a home field advantage.
  17. I was hoping WOS won this one so it would build some drama before they made the long ride to Cougar Stadium next Friday. I’m sure Coach T will have them looking to bounce back.
  18. Figured. Probably effected a lot of natural grass fields around the state tonight.
  19. I know he had 18 carries for 290 yards and 5 tds at the half
  20. Silsbee’s defense came in giving up 52ppg and holds Nederland to 21, interesting? Was it all because the qb was out or did Silsbee’s defense improve during their third week of practice?
  21. KP was down by 50 to Angleton at the end of the third quarter in their opener. Went to the game tonight to see what BH looked like against them. No doubt BH was never in trouble at any point durimg the night but it may be a long season for Eagles.
  22. Pretty surprised by the score in this one. NC should crush everyone else on their schedule except PAM and Porter. Still have a month to improve before they play the Titans at home for the district championship.
  23. Man, I have no idea how y’all read that and got that I don’t think PNG isn’t a good program? I’m just saying without players like RJ that PNG is going to have a hard time producing seasons like the last two, much less beating the upper tier teams. That has zero bearing on whether you deem your season a success. Prep, you highlighted my point. You honestly think PNG beats Crosby last year for no other reason than RJ putting up 10 tds by himself? My entire point is that players like that change your fortune by covering up a lot of deficiencies. Otherwise you look like PNG did against an Angleton team Crosby had shut out 34-0 earlier that year. PNG might technically average going to the state championship every so often but if you really look at the numbers they say something different. They played for a state title in 1999, since then they haven’t even made it past the regional semis. Furthermore, I can name five schools off the top of my head that didn’t even exist and have won regional titles since PNG last played for one. Dawson, Cedar Park, Ridge Point, Manvel and George Ranch which speaks to my other point about the changing demographics. Crosby is more like those new growing schools than the Crosby of a couple decades ago which is what I meant. PNG hasn’t won more than 11 games in a season or for that matter had back to back 10 win seasons without RJ. What are you considering consistently compete, whenever I say that the talk goes to state championships? Again, that has zero to do with being a good program or having good seasons. Rez Ipsa, how does RJ benefit from playing at PNG with less talented players around him and having more thrust upon his shoulders? The kid had over 600 carries from the qb position in two years because that’s how PNG has to win games, at schools where he could actually hand off to a rb he would’ve probably developed more as a passer. I’m sure Faircloth is good with qbs but him teaching RJ the passing game isn’t the reason he’s going to Texas and the last thing he’s done is rapidly develop him. The district isn’t overly strong so I don’t think anybody is throwing dirt on PNG’s season. As far as Crosby having a down year you’re correct, we had one last year. It was only the second time in a decade we lost in the first round. I think people get a little perturbed about hearing RJ is the entire team or they won’t be as good without him but there is very little data that says otherwise. Once again, that has nothing to do with being a good program or having what you deem a good season.
