Dayton/PNG - just lost AT home to Galena Park . . . 6. PNG/Dayton - losing RJ is probably worse than losing to Galena Park 7. Santa Fe - primed to play spoiler 8. Lee - averaging 41ppg through their first two, might surprise somebody

LB was concussion protocol, I’m not sure with the LT but was told he should be good to go for WOS.

Crosby’s non-district schedule is brutal and so far they’ve performed as only one could hope. Bye week comes at a good time after an emotional win in the Jungle, meaning Crosby still has only one home loss since 2012. I think having the bye at this point in the season actually helps with game-planning for the district opener against Vidor in a few week. It also doesn’t hurt that we get a week to rest while WOS plays a headknocker against Newton before they come to Crosby. Long way to go before that time gets here but the way things have broken, it’s sure looking like there’s going to be a showdown for the district championship in Mid-County. PNG won’t be involved in this one though. Defense is one of the best we’ve seen at Crosby in recent years and the offense just put 50 minus an XP on the best defense they’re likely to see all year. Most impressive position group so far has been the offensive line, who led the way for three different 100+ yard rushers against Manvel. Howard and Simon both rushed for 100+ yards against NC also. This probably isn’t going to be much of a competitive game so I’ll bring up something else. Splitting 5A has done some teams a solid, it has done others a disservice. PAM is one of those squads that has gotten a much tougher road through the playoffs now. NC should be the only regular season contest PAM has left but 1-4 in the bi-district could go 1. Angleton 2. Foster 3. Hightower 4. Friendswood, Shadow Creek and Texas City are also in that district. 2nd round would be a combination of Cedar Park, Hutto and Georgetown. If you survive that you’re back to Angleton and Foster for the 3rd round. Austin Macallum, who was 14-1 last year, and a very good Dripping Springs team are also in the region now. Hands down the toughest 5A-D1 region in the state. With only one more competitive game on the schedule it’s just all about staying as healthy as possible for PAM.

C’mon man, it’s not like y’all were handing us the ball. Manvel had one mishandled exchange which led to a fumble y’all ended up recovering. All those other fumbles were forced. I think Manvel was a little surprised after they bloodied Crosby’s nose that Crosby swung back. In order to make up the talent gap with a team like y’all Crosby was going to have to play physical, force Manvel into some mistakes and capitalize when they did. That’s what happened. Hopefully we get to do it again in December. *Looking at it, that is Manvel’s first regular season loss since Pearland in 2015.

You would think that but I’m not so sure about the conditioning this year? That’s usually our strong suit early in the season. Second week in a row we had crucial players cramping up at critical times. Never saw one player cramp up for NC last week. Don’t think I saw one for Manvel last night either. That being said, I do agree we somehow wore Manvel down. We started gashing their d-line in the run game in the second half.

They took kids from both Manvel and Alvin. Yes they took talent from Manvel, they still probably have 7 or 8 FBS signees on that roster though. Johnson and Owens are one of the best, if not the best running back tandems in Texas. Layden Robinson and Kori Roberson are A&M and OU commits in the trenches. I still don’t think anybody in 5A-D2 is more talented.

Dayton has missed the playoffs two years in a row in an average district and just started the current season 0-2 with a loss most recently to an inner-city soccer school. There’s more to it than giving the defense time to rest. For instance, Crosby schedule Dayton for homecoming.

Excellent coaching job by the Cougar staff. I think it’s safe to say they’re one of the upper tier units in the Houston area. After spotting Manvel 21 points adjustments were made on both sides of the ball and the clock was managed beautifully in a close game. Not going to lie, lost a fingernail over the decision to kick the field goal on 4th and a short 2 yards versus going for it deep in Manvel’s territory when points looked like they would come at a premium for Crosby. Those three points turned out to be the difference though. That’s the reason Coach Riordan is the all-time winningest coach in Crosby history and I work at a refinery.

I’m a recruiting degenerate, I’m more than aware of who he is. He’s one of the reasons I feel Dayton shouldn’t be any worse than 7-3 this year.

The RJ I’m talking about is Roschon Johnson who was carted off the field tonight.

First off, good win by those kids at Galena Park. This is just flat out unacceptable for the Dayton Broncos though. Until the powers that be at The Horseshoe decide they’re tired of losing football games to soccer schools you can expect more of the same. With every fiber of my being I hope RJ is ok, but if he’s not there’s no reason Dayton shouldn’t be competing for the second spot in this district. Instead, they’re probably going to struggle to go .500? At least when Dayton owned Crosby we were still a playoff team.

Just glad we have a bye week before WOS. I think we would be ripe for the picking next Friday after that emotional win. Going to take a couple weeks to get the kids refocused after that one.

This win more than deserves a crow thread but we’re trying to turn over a new leaf. I’ve personally always hated the taste of crow of etoufee myself.

Manvel won’t lose again until at least the 4th round, mark it down. Cowboy thought he could ride his horse through the jungle but ended up getting attacked by a cougar. It happens.

Crosby holds three consecutive times after five of up 21 and score 17 straight. Manvel feels a little pressure and goes for it on 4th and 8 close to midfield and converts to put Crosby back down by 11. Crosby would be winning or down by 1/4 if they hold that 4th consecutive time. Small things that win or lose games.
