  1. I don't think anybody is throwing shade. Crosby is over twice the size of Jasper. I think calling a matchup between the two teams a great game is just fan-speak because the two schools are in the coverage area, no other reason. Playing up may be great and help out Jasper but o think there's a reason Crosby hasn't dropped down to play anybody in 15+ years. I will say I'm very thankful we're actually playing a game though.
  2. Well, we all know it wouldn't truly be a Crosby thread until state championships are referenced. It's all good though Grad, the UIL is about to do us a solid too when they split the divisions next year.
  3. Yeah, I know it gets dark over there. Hasn't seemed to work since we came to Nederland five years ago. Then again, all those games were against 5A teams during the playoffs or teams that eventually made the playoffs. I guess Jasper is going to show us though.
  4. Yeah, that's fine. Which game was it though? Maybe ask one of the administrators since you can't seem to find it yourself? We're actually 43-8 by the way. 2016: 9-3 2015: 11-1 2014: 13-2 2013: 10-2 I can this is going to be an exercise in futility though. So even though I can prove my point and you can't I'm going to let you have that one.
  5. Lol, the 'ole SETX history lesson. You're right though, 33 years ago is ancient history but I realize that's what y'all hold on to over there. I'm sure the reason we played Jasper then was because our towns were similar in size, three and a half decades later the towns are in two different places. There's no history to that, it's just facts. Heck, last time Crosby and Jasper played some of our coaches probably weren't even born.
  6. I just recalled every loss off the top of my head. I don't need a site. Like I said, you're welcome for the proper correction.
  7. What home game has Crosby lost the last four years? Last home loss was in district play five years ago to Summer Creek. You can point out which game you're talking about though, I even posted the link so you could do it quicker. Matter of fact I'll make it even quicker. 2016 losses - @Manvel, @Porter, neutral to FB Marshall 2015 losses - neutral to FB Ridge Point 2014 losses - @CE King, neutral to Cedar Park 2013 losses - @Summer Creek, neutral to Elgin You welcome back, now you can erase your correction. 8. What's special about playing in the "Dawg House"? I just looked at the last four years of home records and Jasper is 13-5 with wins over 4A teams. On the other hand, Crosby's home record in that same span is 20-0 with wins over all 5A and 6A teams. We'll see though, Jasper definitely has one advantage with the long travel time for Crosby. Probably have to take charter buses.
  9. Crosby has already been practicing. Great matchup how? We have twice the kids y'all do and really get no satisfaction from a win against Jasper. I can see why it may be a good matchup for Jasper but Crosby hasn't dropped down to play anybody for at least 15 years. I can see this being a very hard game for the Crosby kids to get up for. We go from having our game against the #1 team in the state cancelled to another cancellation against a 6A playoff team to a dang near three hour bus ride to drop down and play a 4A squad. I understand it was the only for sure game we could make, it's just disappointing but at least the kids have a game before district starts.
  10. It's hard to see how BH moves the ball or gets stops in either one of those and truly gets some work? They're gong to be so overwhelmed at the line of scrimmage I think the best outcome is just making it through the next six days healthy.
  11. Yeah, he's started at 6A Judson since he was a freshman and is a middle ranked 3-star that will in all likelihood never take a meaningful snap from under center in college. Dual threat qbs are hard to judge in high school because you never know how much their running ability opens things up for them to put up some of the passing numbers they do. Prime example is Jerrod Heard at Texas. He was the #2 dual threat qb in the country, #10 overall in the country, had back to back 2000/2000 seasons to go with back to back state titles at Denton Guyer. Had a little success with his feet but got exposed and replaced by a lower ranked kid who could throw it accurately and now play receiver.
  12. I think we're good for the most part in Crosby as long as the plant doesn't blow up. Just watching Lake Houston and the San Jacinto. I'm sure Dayton is upward of 50" right now though, I hope they're good out that way? *On a lighter note, I guess we're in between rain bands so it's very nice and quiet on the back patio right now but the storm just got a lot worse at my house. I am now officially out of Johnny Walker, smh.
  13. Yeah, after I made a comment about Vidor's pass defense RBB said we played Vidor close in a playoff game and that they have a bad pass defense. Implying we should've beat them by more like PNG did if their pass defense was bad. I reminded him of your struggle with 3rd place BH even though they were hammered twice by 20+ in district play. I was also highlighting how few plays we ran we actually needed to run during our bi-district game, averaged 15 yards per carry so there was really no need to throw it. I'm on to our second undefeated district championship of the four consecutive and our 9th bi-district win the last ten years, but every now and then you have to point things out from prior seasons.
  14. I said Crosby would go undefeated since we don't play Manvel. Then unprovoked YOU ask if I watched the scrimmage, meaning YOU think a scrimmage has any bearing on anything. YOU used the word dominate, not me. I could give a crap less what people believe about a scrimmage. There's not a single coach or fan base who is going to take Crosby any more or less serious based on a scrimmage. I guess when your squad is struggling to become relevant again you have to point to every moral victory possible though? Dayton coaches sat right on side of us, I don't even think they were concerned enough with what they saw from Nederland to take notes? I think Dayton is going to beat Nederland comfortably, yet probably won't even make the playoffs in our district. May not be saying much though, since they beat y'all last year and neither made the playoffs.
  15. Dude, you literally got on here and asked if I attended s scrimmage. Sounds to me like you're trying to make more out of a practice than it really is. I watched every single play though. From my point of view there were going to be a lot of plays like the one I linked at the bottom. Try to stop Williams on 20+ carries like the first one against Ned. Patterson had three tds alone against Ned on his highlight. Like I said, Ned is hoping to make the playoffs while Crosby is trying to win their fourth consecutive district championship. Neumann was 1-5 against Crosby with his only win coming with what was probably his best team in his 20+ year tenure. Williams - [Hidden Content] Patterson - [Hidden Content]
  16. Crosby only ran 28 offensive plays in that game and scored 33 points. That's with a pick 6 called back and another TD for holding behind the play. Vidor ran over 70 plays and was down 11 points win less than 2 mins left in the game. Vidor also tied for your district championship. I we have different definitions of close. Crosby hammered BH 42-18, BH lost to PNG by 5 points and had the ball with a minute left and a chance to win. I guess you have to get the DC's to see what it says?
  17. The first would be another undefeated regular season and district championship like the '15 season. The second is to beat FB Marshall in the second round and win another regional crown. We'll see what happens from that point on. *I've already made the assumption we'll be in the second round since Crosby has only lost one bi-district game the last nine years.
  18. Exactly, they pulled Williams. You think that happens in a real game? The backup rb #2 ran the ball down there, Howard wasn't even live so all Ned had to do even when Williams was in the game was run straight to him because the qb couldn't run. Craig has played Ned twice in real games and has 19 touches for 202 yards from scrimmage, now imagine we give it to him 20+ times in one game as the starter against what y'all put out there for a defense. Like I eluded to prior, there's a reason DC's makes a notation at the bottom of Crosby's preseason write up they don't make for any other 5A team in the coverage area. There's also a reason Ned will probably miss the playoffs for the second straight year.
  19. The first time Crosby got the ball they went about 60 yards in a few plays and pulled Williams on fist and goal and didn't put him back in. Howard also wasn't live and couldn't run the ball in a goal to go situation which is something Nederland has little to no chance stopping if we were to go read option with him and Williams there. Even prior to the play he threw the pick Ned had blown one of many coverages and #88 was wide open in the end zone but he's coming off a broken collar bone and I'm not sure he was live either even though he wasn't wearing a yellow jersey. Nederland is tiny, Crosby would wear them out a lot like we always end up doing BH because they get beat up at the line of scrimmage and worn down from chasing players like #11 who shredded Ned every time he touched it. Don't look anymore into it than Crosby trying to stay healthy. We have bigger aspirations than just making the playoffs in Cougarland.
  20. Yeah, watched it from whistle to whistle. In a real game with the ones playing Craig Williams probably runs for close to 200 yard with a few tds and Jaiden Howard probably throws for close to 300 yards and a few more tds. Nederland probably scores in the twenties and Crosby in the forties or even fifties. Nederland is very small and would struggle to play four quarters with Crosby in a real game, can't over-analyze what you see in a scrimmage. Especially when you're swapping kids out during supposed 1 v 1 portion. To be honest, I would be surprised if they finish higher than 4th in their district.
  21. I think it'll be a lot closer. I still think BH hits one or two big pass plays and ultimately wins but BH isn't set up to beat you with physicality right now, Vidor is. I think BH throws it so well and Vidor is so poor at covering the pass that they won't be able to take advantage of that physicality because BH will be up in the second half of game and Vidor's ball control won't matter. Vidor not throwing the ball hurts them twofold. One, they can't score quickly in games they're behind. Two, they don't get to play the pass in practice which always seems to hurt their pass defense during the season, even in years they're actually formidable.
  22. I really wanted to play this one to other see where we were but one less opportunity for injury may be just beneficial. With the cancellation of this game look for Crosby to have its second undefeated regular season in two years. Without the probable loss to Manvel on the schedule there is a very good chance Crosby runs their record to 10-0 and has the hype train once again behind them when we line up with FB Marshall in the second round.
  23. I think this game is goignto he BH by 21+. I think 21-5A has only lost once in our last ten or so non-district matchups. For whatever reason it seems like we're more ready to play early in the season. Not to mention BH is bringing back 8 off an offense that dropped forty in he Boneyard and Vidor is bringing back 9 of the kids that gave it up. Plus the game is in Mont Belvieu this year. BH pretty easy in this one, unless it's raining and they have to run the ball.
  24. I him, a couple of people already touched on what the first goal should be. I still to this day think the '15 season ends differently if Grace doesn't blow his knee out against Angleton. I think if Garrison Johnson is eligible play the task gets much harder, seen a lot of preseason film with him and A&M commit Deneric Prince in the backfield together. Johnson looks to be the lead back though, runs it a lot like Pennemon. I think Crosby has a solid front seven but I we're going to struggle to stop Manvel from running th ball between the tackles. IMO this will have more to do with the outcome of the game than any other factor. Preston gets all the hype IMO he's always been the second or third best receiver on his team. While he's a game changer he doesn't really effect the game at the high school level like Missouri commit Kam Scott across from him, I think Preston only had two 100 yard games out of 14 last year. I think it plays well that Martin isn't a runner and Crosby should be able to focus strictly on coverage, that being said I don't see us being able to cover Manvel's receivers with any real effectiveness. All in all if Manvel comes out and executes cleanly those three tds Songone is talking about are a good bet, even if we do the same. I would like to see Crosby put 40 points on Manvel's defense or at least get close. We may give up 60 but if we're operating efficiently enough to score at that clip on the #1 team in the state, I would be awful scared to line up with Crosby ten weeks later come the D2 playoffs.
  25. Nah, it's actually hot as hell. I told my son just the other day that's he's a idiot for going and working in this heat without getting paid. PDon't worry, I'll be right back on that arse once BH donkey stomps y'all again in the opener.
