  1. Katy is really the only one with a big delta in coaching salaries though, that because some of their coaches have been with the district for so long. Gary Joseph has been the head coach at Katy for a while now, but he's been with KISD much longer. Similar to coach Clayton at Cinco Ranch who only makes about $5k less than Joseph and hasn't had nearly the success. Cy-Fair pays over $1mil in yearly head coaching salaries and they're pretty evenly distributed. I agree they shouldn't make nearly as much but how else would you attract top coaching talent to some of these schools that really don't have a chance at winning big?
  2. Yeah, in this area pretty much the same if the years of service are similar. For instance, CISD paid coach Carson at College Park over $110k last year. Mark Schmidt at the Woodlands only made $112k. Coach Carson has only won 6 games or more at CP once in eleven years, coach Schmidt has only won less than 6 games once in the last 13 years.
  3. Flannigan was looking for a way out of West Brook and had been since he got there. He's been applying for nearly every decent job that comes open in this area for at least three years, including a bad GCM program. Dayton didn't release their list but I'm dang near positive he applied for that one too. BISD pays three head coaches and an athletic director, even awful programs like College Park start you out at significantly more than what Flannigan was making. He doesn't really get to make his non-district schedule, the school is isolated from other 6A's which is a travel pain, below average pay for assistants at good programs, a medaling administration and on top of all that he makes less money for it. Flannigan would've left WB for the Huffman job if it came open.
  4. Y'all need to open up every job in Baytown or at least GCM and Lee who have been pretty awful under the new coaching staffs. Calvin Hill will save the coach in Sterling and keep them mediocre by himself though.
  5. Where did you see somebody start a thread about their son? Maybe I should rename it "Junior QB's with FBS offers and interest". Imagine how we felt talking about Jack Dallas thread who had/has no chance of being a contributor from the qb position in the NCAA.
  6. I don't believe Kyle Trask ever started one game at Manvel and signed with Florida. All the kids on that list were sophomores this past season that contributed in some form or fashion on the varsity level. The evaluations/rankings were made from film as the vast majority of the kids on the list haven't even been through a true Spring evaluation. Oddly enough it will be the people on this site wondering how certain teams improve when they would already know X team has a stud junior qb that's pretty highly thought of by different recruiting services. Some of these kids already have offers and are only 17 months from their signing day as they will be enrolling for Spring ball. Probably the most odd thing to me with WOS fans commenting is the multiple threads/post relating to Jack Dallas going into his junior year asking if he was the best qb in the state which was comical then and comical now.
  7. Still very early in the recruiting process but it looks like the SETXsports.com coverage area has three of the top 10 dual-threat qbs in the state of Texas for the 2019 class according to Lone Star Prospects. I don't really see him as a dual-threat qb, more of a drop back passer who can run like Aaron Sharp but I think it's especially impressive for Crosby QB Jaiden Howard who also picked up 21-5A newcomer of the year honors after only making one start last year. 8. Crosby was down by 15 points relatively early in the game, trailed by two tds the vast majority of the game and lost by 21. Multiple turnovers, running into the punter allowing another TD, first and goal ending with no points, other times inside the red zone with no points and playing poorly on defense. Maybe you call it something different because it's our kids? There's a silver lining in everything. We had the ball inside the 5 yard line on Elgin tied at 28 and looking to take the lead with 6 or 7 mins left in the game. We threw two endzone interceptions against Ridge Point and gave up two big pass plays, otherwise that's probably a different game. We lost those by a combined 56. At the end of the day it is what it is.
  9. You hit it on the head. We still get blown out the same way in the second round we did under Flannigan, we just win more during the regular season. Game really wasn't even competitive, they out-athleted us from the first whistle to the last. Sad part is with Jaiden Howard playing QB next year Crosby will probably once again win the district and play from the same playoff position meaning we'll get Marshall again, who just blew the doors off of us with a bunch of sophomores and juniors. Crosby has basically been destroyed 4 out of last 5 years in the second round. I count Manir because that one wasn't competitive in the second half but the other second round losses have been by 28 to Elgin, 28 to Ridge Point and 21 to Marshall.
  10. After Georgetown earned the D2 #1 seed coming out of Cedar Park's district I felt like they could possibly be the team to beat on our side of the bracket after Brenham's head scratching loss to Willis. I don't think Consol.'s district is as good as GT's and they're still playing from the #2 seed behind College Station. When the bracket was set I felt like the GT/Brenham winner would reach the third round and still do.
  11. I think Foster would give y'all more trouble than Denton Ryan would. Ryan just get too many points scored on them for it not to catch up with them at some point. Foster is a beast this year and one of the few teams in 5A that can match y'all person for person on the line of scrimmage. I like Ryan a lot but they're very qb-centric, Foster and Manvel are probably the most complete teams if you take into consideration both sides of the ball.
  12. Not that I'm looking ahead but if we handle FB Marshall comfortably then I think we do the same to Brenham again. I don't think they'll cause us the matchup problems that Marshall could if they get the run game going or find a weak spot in our secondary to exploit. Marshall has given up 35, 48 and 63 points on defense at different times this year plus a bunch on yards to Santa Fe. As long as we play clean on the offensive side of the ball and on special teams I think Crosby making three or four defensive stops probably gets the W.
  13. Lol, NS punked y'all 66-7 the first time y'all lined up and they punked y'all 38-7 the last time y'all lined up. When North Shore goes 8-4 that's considered a down year for a squad that hasn't lost a bi-district game since 1999, obviously after going 3-7 back to back years 8-4 would be a considerable improvement at PAM. You got blasted on a regular by North Shore and dropped down to 5A and got blasted by Vidor who attempted two passes. Say whatever you need to make yourself feel better though Mouse, we're about to get our 40th win in four years Friday night. Just make sure you don't get punked against Elkins like y'all did the last time and a in the district championship game.
  14. I was giving y'all credit man. Kronos was trying to marginalize getting their head beat in. Mathews record is what it is, I was just pointing that out because no matter how good he thinks PAM might be you have to take into consideration all aspects of the game and that night he got outcoached. Same way he would have against PNG if they had some athletes. As far as the Crosby vs Vidor game I guess it's just how you look at it? I'm sure you were pleased because Vidor played a solid game. I was pleased because Vidor was a solid team and had it not been for two tds called back and the dumb late safety we gave up the score in that game is probably 47-22 which gave me optimism moving forward after playing against someone's district champion like that. I felt the same way in 2011 you did in last week where you play and undefeated squad, knock them off in a physical game then have to turn around on a week night and drive 70 miles for a playoff game. Only thing that hurts Vidor is that offense isn't plug and play meaning you need personnel yearly, another thing I saw is that Mathews loads up the offense at the expense of the defense.
  15. Saw in the Chronicle where New Caney ISD is starting their new teachers out at $53k which was up from $2k from last year. I read another article where it said the new Goose Creek CISD teachers start out at $41,500 and get some kind of $2k stipend/bonus so I don't think they're anywhere close to BH. Goose Creek CISD probably averages what NCISD teachers start at.
  16. Mouse, huffing paint is illegal. Vidor beat y'alls head in. North Shore was kicking PAM's teeth in 66-7 a decade ago and has been mashing your head into the ground ever since except for one year PAM was good and one year NS was down, they were crop dusting PAM no matter the numbers. You're a flat out idiot if you call getting throttled multiple times against two wins going back and fourth. Not only that, y'all struggled with a trash Westside team that was blown out by a Houston Heights we were up 25-0 on when we pulled the starters. You barely beat a PNG team that struggled mightily with BH who was blown out twice by Crosby and NC in district play. One of the most stupid things I've heard you say on here is that PAM walked into a district championship game expecting Vidor to roll over, you just need to accept the fact that you got your arse handed to you by double digits. Vidor didn't need OT either. Nobody cares about your excuses, just like they didn't care about Crosby's who had a real argument for overlooking a team that won like 6 games the previous three years. You proved my point though, you have to point to a Porter win two months ago to make your point but I can point to your whole season to make mine. PAM was 6-14 their last two years in 6A, Manvel just beat the #6 ranked team in 6A who also happens to be the defending champ. The also beat a 6A-D1 area finalist in Pearland 36-0. You must think PAM is a clown show if you're calling Manvel Hoka Joke. Manvel would slaughter PAM by four or five tds and that's if coach Martin called the dogs off.
  17. Yeah, both of the backs are young sophomores and already over 180lbs with speed on reserve. Might be division one players in the future. Guard to guard on the o-line they probably average over 300lbs and have one of the better young linemen in country in Barton Clement. Two receivers that will also be a potential problem. Most of their studs are sophomore and juniors so they don't have the typical recruiting profiles yet. They currently have three players in the league and a couple more that might go in college right now. They're nobody to be taken lightly and will definitely be the fastest team we've seen since Manvel but I'll take that any day over being dominated on both lines of scrimmage. Feel good about scoring on their defense, just wondering how Crosby matches up against that two back formation they get so many if their big run plays out of?
  18. Bro, you lost to Vidor by double digits the week before we beat them by 9 with two tds called back and a dumb safety late in the game. Not only that, in the district championship game your coach got outcoached by a guy with a career sub .500 record. If you're going to use the transitive property on a loss Crosby took two months ago under the perfect circumstances for Porter then that loss PAM took two weeks ago looks real bad. Not that I even care but looking over resumes for the season Crosby's is actually better than PAM's other than our losss to Manvel by the same two tds North Shore did.
  19. You would have to ask one of the Manvel fans but I don't think the 2011 state final team was even as good as this squad. Tucker and Preston are probably NFL players and maybe the linebacker too. To call the defense on this year's Manvel squad suffocating might be selling them short, I don't think that '11 squad had that. You have to realize if they were in 6A they would most likely be ranked #3 in the state and the favorite to play Cibolo Steele in the D2 semifinals.
  20. I know he doesn't make $85k, if I remember correctly he makes just under $100k. Fact is he's been there over two decades and Dayton just hired a guy that's never been a head coach at what would be a good raise for Neumann because that's what it takes to compete and not lose your coach over here. Dayton could hire a guy like Larry Fedora at the same money Riordan makes and nobody would bat an eye. You pay him that kind money in Nederland over what a guy like LN has done and someone might look down their nose; just a different thought process to fixing already good enough. 5A Crosby's thought process was to let go of a guy that's got 6A Westbrook 10-1 right now. Don't think it's a coincidence Crosby going for their 4th straight 10 win season Friday night though. *I know you're one of the people on here that will go look into things before you post about them. I know Bronco Pride is a stickler for legendary high school coaches like me. It hurts me because the wife went there but go look up Reginald Samples and his work at Dallas Skyline and where he is now at Duncanville all because DISD didn't want to pay to play.
  21. Wasn't making a comparison. Westeberg makes more money than any of those Cy-Fair coaches and is probably the highest paid coach in Texas. I was pointing that out because neither place has to compensate their coaches like they do, but it does put into perspective who is dedicated to winning and how dedicated they are. Prime example is look how long it took Neumann to get to his current salary, if he leaves what kind of established coach do you think you're going to get willing to start out at $85k. If Riordan left, Crosby could go get Jon Kay at North Shore and it would be a raise from what he's making in GPISD. Huge advantage to being/staying competitive when you're community and administration are willing to allocate the necessary resources to do so.
  22. My understanding is that Westeberg is right at $140,000 or a little north of that. The article includes the total compensation for the coach even if he's the AD. Puts it all into perspective when you realize districts like Cy-Fair ISD pay their head football coaches over $1million before they even pay any other coaches or the AD.
  23. 4.46 on the hand time by your high school coach is probably a 4.6 at best. I don't know who Riggs is and if he didn't play against BH I've never seen him play so I can't really comment. The first half of the season PNG played one of the weakest 5A schedules in Texas so I wouldn't go off who has the most receiving yards. For instance, he has more yards than McZeal but if he was really a better player he would have the same offers.
  24. In 1995 Jerry Stewart started out as the 31st highest paid coach in Texas before even making the playoffs. The listing Dayton posted for the AD opening when Hancock wasn't retained stated the job paid $105,000. I couldn't find the listing again but I'm sure somebody knows how to search for it in one of the old threads. So unless Dayton ISD lied on their listing or significantly reduced their AD's pay scale comparable to the rest of the state that's what he's making. I doubt when a member of your church hires you without going through the real interview process they're going to pay you the low end of the listing which was $90k or $95K.
  25. Jeff Riordan from Crosby #6 at slightly under $118,000 Dayton didn't turn their info in but I'm pretty sure Jeff Nations started out at $105,000 Interesting thing is that Caney Creek's coach is not required to win but Conroe ISD pays so much he makes $105,000 regardless, but is still probably the lowest paid coach in Conroe ISD. Tom Westeberg at BH probably beat out Katy's Gary Joseph as the highest paid coach in the Houston area but his salary wasn't reported. [Hidden Content]
