  1. Before I started posting on here 3 years ago, the girls thread was almost non existent, scores were really scarce then, so great job to all of you guys jumping through “hoops” to keep everybody informed.
  2. HJ’s success with this group started with the little dribblers program and they (The Girls) have been playing with each other outside of little dribblers since the Seniors were in the third grade and I know this because my has been in the same gyms as them playing with them or against them, practicing with them. They have had a great mentor leading the way in Jackson’s dad who volunteered a ton of time working on the girls fundamentals from a very young age! I was working hard to develop the Lumberton girls at the same time and boy did we have some fun times competing against each other, but the biggest difference was all the parents and kids in HJ bought in and only a few bought in in Lumberton, of course I really rocked the boat and moved to PNG! Most people don’t know this but three of the starters for PNG are all from Lumberton Little dribblers!
  3. Exactly, HJ hawks are successful, because Coach Fogo has the gym open 24/7, if not they all have access to the Nome Dome, most schools kids are lucky to have access once a week. Too many distractions these days to not shoot in the front yard. My kid learned her left hand, because she would tell me she is bored in the 4th grade and I would throw her a basketball and make her dribble around the neighborhood with her left hand only! Yesterday, she drove 2 hours to work with trainer for two hours and drive two hours back. Then came home ran to grocery store bought her food for the week and meal prepped for the week. She works out every single day to get stronger. She has come home after a tough physical game, changed clothes and went and worked out. She has lost 15 pounds since last season and looks faster, quicker, is jumping higher than she ever has.
  4. This right here is what I am talking about, the proper techniques are not taught like they should be, so there are girls that put in work, but still aren’t great shooters, but great scorers. They get to the rim successfully and finish (which is not a bad thing) but they just aren’t as proficient on the outside shot.
  5. I’m not talking about school coaching at all, the girls that are playing AAU ball and taking private lessons is what I’m talking about, and like Coach Schu mentioned in youth sports. If a High School coach is teaching and breaking down the shot, it’s too late. A HS coach should be able to see if a shooter is struggling and make adjustments. Little Dribblers in this area is the most popular youth basketball in this area and the leagues do not train the coaches, so you end up with a bunch of moms and dads teaching form shooting completely wrong. Then most private lessons focus so much attention on ball handling and getting to the rim and you get scorers from this and not shooters!
  6. Postula, definitely has a nice stroke too, don’t leave her open in the corner! The art of the shot is not really taught around this area, girls are just being taught to get to the rim!
  7. I agree, but still nice to get that out of the way, game was much closer than it should have been, last two games the intensity for the Lady Indians has been missing!
  8. I believe that was the first time PNG girls have beat PAM since PAM was originated!
  9. I’ll be a homer, my kid (Mollee Priddy) has one of the nicest looking shots you will see, but sometimes her shot is off and then she just becomes a scorer.
  10. Nederland’s future is very bright, they are starting three freshman, a sophomore and a Junior. Nederland got the game within 1 point in the third qtr. They will be a force to recon with over the next couple of years.
  11. [Hidden Content] This is why we lost to Dayton, kid had a great game!
  12. Sophomore guard for Dayton probably 20-22 from the line, kid couldn’t miss!
  13. That was a tough one, Dayton 61 PNG 58, FREE THROWS!
  14. This is why I have Jasper ranked high, three girls in double digits in scoring, there are at least three other names that I see on the High Scorers for the team. They have at least 7 girls capable of being the high scorer every night, they are probably the deepest team 1-10. They have height, they have speed, they rebound well and they run the floor. There are teams/players that will cause match up problems, but overall they are a strong team!
  15. It’s not a knock on Legacy, I just looked at who I thought was playing better basketball right now, and with nobody posting about Legacy on here it’s hard to judge them. Pretty much every team 6 thru probably 15 in the area could probably beat each other. Orangefield beat PNG really easy two times in a week or two weeks time span, OF seemed to have easy, but when you look at shooting % OF shot lights out and PNG shooting % was probably in the teens. I think in a best out of 7 series right now, OF still wins it, but PNG could probably win 2-3 times. LCM beat PNG in Evadale tournament, but I think PNG would probably win 4 or 5 times out of 7 times played. With all that being said, the teams that fall 6 and after are not consistent teams, that doesn’t mean they don’t have good players or bad teams, they just aren’t elite like 1-4 are. Number 5 WB, would probably lose a vast majority of games to 1-4 And could probably pull an upset, but probably wins a vast majority of games against 6 and above.
  16. That was just me playing around, striking up some convo. United beat Jasper in a scrimmage, when Jasper didn’t have all of their players. Jasper lost to BH by 1 in Lumberton tourney and lost to Woodville by 6 in Splendora tourney, so I could see HJ, United, Woodville, BH, Jasper as 1-5 based on head to head. Like I said I had a hard time 1 thru 3, but actually 1 thru 5 was tough, I think they are all clearly head and shoulders above any other local team.
  17. Partly because I am more familiar with those two teams, I had a hard time put down 1-3 in any order. I am familiar with the Junior guards on United and don’t feel like they would match up well against HJ, but I know there are some sophomore guards I am not familiar with at all.
