  1. Excited for the recognition, now they have to get out on the hardwood and prove they deserve it!
  2. Coach Shu, you guys got a lot of love from Roy’s report! You guys have a solid squad and hope for much success! PNG faces Jasper, Silsbee, Livingston and Lumberton.
  3. 4A Region III rankings Hardin-Jefferson Fairfield Jasper Waco Connally Midlothian Heritage Silsbee Livingston Brazosport Houston Wheatley Cleveland Tarkington On the cusp Lorena Robinson Lumberton Sweeny Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lots of love for SETX HJ, Silsbee, Lumberton and LCM all in same district!
  4. What happen to all the rest of the 5A district predictions?
  5. PNG is coming off of their first playoff appearance in school history finishing with a 23-13 record. They graduated 6 seniors, which two had serious injuries throughout the year at the post position. We have a 4 year starting returner who has been teams leading scorer the last two years and has been 1st team all District the last two years, we have a three year returning starter who has been the second leading scorer the last two years. We have two more seniors that came off the bench last year and a Junior who has been on Varsity since her Freshman year coming off the bench. We also have a strong nucleus of 4 Seniors moving up from a JV team who only lost 3 District games (BH x2 and Dayton). We also have an incoming Freshman who could possibly get moved up and I think make a difference. PNG should be quick and physical this year. I’m predicting a second playoff appearance and think they have a realistic spot at second in the district.
  6. Not one Region 3 team in 5A, unless I’m missing someone!
  7. I cannot even describe how proud this makes me! My daughter set a goal when we moved to Port Neches in the 7th grade to be a part of the first team to hang a banner up in the gym and she also had set a personal goal to be able to continue to play basketball after high school. She can now put a check mark next to both of those goals! Now go win a District Championship!
  8. I have a feeling we are either going to make a really strong run at the DC or we are going to fall really flat. We have both of our top scorers back from the last two years, we have other pieces to the puzzle, but they are going to have to step up in big spots. They should be a very physical team and won’t be afraid to play or match up with anyone. Just don’t have much height under the basket. I’m hoping now that my kid has the recruiting all behind her she can relax and just play basketball. I look for big things from her and M Stampley this year!
  9. Mollee Priddy from PNG will be verbally committing to play basketball at Trinity University tomorrow! Super excited and proud of her.
  10. Lumberton football popularity has fallen so bad that every game update was a Vidor Pirate fan!
  11. The girls went to Atlanta this past weekend and they all had a fantastic weekend. They had a ton of coaches watching the girls, now everybody has to sit back and wait on the offers. I wish all the girls the best of luck in being able to play at the next level!
  12. Definitely not taking anything away from their play, I was only talking about the W-L record.
  13. Chicago wasn’t so nice to us, that’s all I’m going to say, lol.
  14. Girls lost the last game 48-40 to a really good San Antonio’s finest team. Girls played some great defense all weekend and finished in 6th place out of 32 teams. Now off to Chicago!
  15. Took a tough loss this morning to a very well conditioned, physical and fundamental team from Denver, Colorado who has a PG committed to Stanford and a 6’3” post committed to Colorado. They beat us by 22 points, we hung with them for the first 13 minutes and actually had a 6 point lead at one time. PG is 5 star recruit and she showed why. They will be playing in the championship game in the AM This evening we picked up a nice come from behind win against a Ft Worth team, Hit a huge 3 pointer with a minute and half left to take the lead for the first time since early in the first half. Girls where tired and played kind of sloppy, but were able to pull it together and pull out the victory to earn the right to play in the AM for 5th place. Tournament bracket was the top bracket and started off with 32 teams from as far away as Australia. We have a tough tough game in the morning against top level San Antonio’s Finest. Winner takes 5th, loser takes 6th and then off to Chicago to go play in Nike’s Tournament of Champions. So much fun watching this group compete and play some hard fought basketball.
  16. Picked up a nice win against a Vancouver, Canada team this evening 36-32.
  17. We started out with a huge win over a team out of California with a 61-23 win. Team has three girls from HJ, 1 from PNG and one from Woodville. We had at least 20 Div 1 coaches in attendance, great way to start out July ladies.
  18. Wish all the local girls playing in front of scouts this month the best of luck, we lace them up in Frisco, TX tomorrow afternoon thru Monday, then Chicago Wednesday-Friday, followed by Atlanta the following weekend.
  19. Jim Ned, was the eventual winner of the tournament, we went to Double OT with them, the girls claim the scorekeepers missed two points in regulation, but I’m not sure about that. Jim Ned went undefeated.
  20. Mason I believe went to the State Championship the last two years.
  21. PNG ended up going 4-3 on the weekend, we lost to Mason twice and Jim Ned in a double OT. Second OT was sudden death.
