I haven’t taken anything away from anybody, you stated boys were FRUSTATED! I’m only addressing that issue. Nobody and I repeat NOBODY on that team has worked HARDER than RJ, not saying they haven’t worked hard which I’m positive they have. If they are frustrated over just the label of “One man team” then the kids need to be informed that is just opposing fans being jeolous and wishing they had RJ on their team.

If a kid is frustrated on the Indians after beating Nederland because RJ got most of the touches and they didn’t, then those kids are not team players, if one of those happens to be your kid,?I would use it as a great teaching moment and teach your kid what hard work gets you, it gets you more opportunities than the rest. RJ didn’t get that many carries because he is naturally gifted. He got those many carries because he has busted his butt to get to that point since he was young.

FRUSTRATING???? The TEAM just won those games. I don’t care what team or what coach you are if you have RJ, you are going to utilize him to the fullest!

Have to give the JV girls a shout out for taking 1st place at the Bridge City JV tournament and the Freshman taking 3rd place at the Bridge City Freshman tournament. I wish I had more info, but super proud of them. Keep working hard ladies!

I asked one of the Defensive players the other day what changed three weeks ago, he told me nothing, they had a player only meeting with the defense and they just decided to come out with a different mentality. Looks like it worked.

You could also contribute middle school football too. Vidor has one middle school with an A and a B team. Kids on the B team for the most part will get discouraged and decide not to play in HS. Kids at Ned and PNG have two middle schools producing two A teams and two B teams, so now you have two groups of A teams combining in HS so your participation level in the 9th grade is already higher!

When we whipped the Bullpups up and down the field in 1991 I could have cared less about a dang trophy, all that I cared about was that we just put a spanking on the Bullpups! The trophy has been around 4 or 5 years, this rivalry is a lot older and winning is more meaningful than the trophy!

I just look at the youth football programs and the top teams typically come from the same schools that are more successful than others at the Varsity levels with the exception of Lumberton. Vidor has a youth team every so often that is somewhat successful, but never a string of teams like Nederland and PNG have.

I keep forgetting, I have to give some love to the JV and Freshman for picking up wins as well, not sure what the freshman score was, but JV defeated LCM 38-19. Coach has done a great job of changing the culture of PNG basketball. The girls are believing they can win from Freshman to Seniors!
