I do think KOGT said that in the article. I’m thinking maybe he meant during the Erickson era.

They did, they also lost in the Regional Finals. In 1990 with Jeff Granger they lost in the state semifinals.

11 or 12. All but 2 of the 8 starting position players were seniors, catcher and 3B were sophomores. -

Congratulations to you guys. Good luck next week. I gotta hand it to you, yall do have awesome pitching. Wish we had played cleaner baseball and made the last 2 games more competitive, but no doubt the best team won. -

Come on dude, don’t take anything away from the kids on the field. If you want to talk uncharacteristic, we made what 3 or 4 errors in game one. Y’all had 2 EARNED runs. Defense is normally our strong suit. Your ace didn’t strike out a single one of our kids. Like I said also, you did not out hit us in game 1. Hell you barley out hit us in game 2. We had all the uncharacteristic walks. Josh pitched a hell of a game is what made that game what it was. -

The same umps took a run off the board from Orangefield saying he didn’t touch 3rd. Wouldn’t say they were one sided. I didn’t see the video, but several people saw a video where he clearly touched 3rd. If that’s the case, it just gave us back the run they took. Not to mention that killed the inning as well with runners still in scoring position. Also not sure where you are getting that Franklin had 12 hits or out hit Orangefield game 1… out game changer has it at 8 hits for Orangefield to 7 hits for Franklin and Franklin’s game changer has it at 8 and 8. -

I’m almost positive they made it to the state semifinals with Granger. -

Well the point was I doubt all 7 of them could shut down Orangefield for 7 innings. But that is something we will never know. Good thing there are only 2-3 games. -

I don’t think anyone thinks y’all are short on pitching. But 7 pitchers that can go 7 innings in the Regional Finals is a bit of a stretch I would think. I think that’s why he made the joke. Let’s just hope that this weather allows us to play a normal baseball game and not fight through mutiple rain delays every night. -

I think Franklin would be the considered the favorite based off ranking and record. I think most would agree we prefer being the underdogs anyway. Orangefield has played much better since getting everyone back however, and I think it should be a good matchup. It will be a fun series, with a chance to go to state on the line! -

Per coach Erickson it will be 4:00. KOGT and the school Facebook says 4:00 also. Where are you seeing 4:30? -

1st game Saturday will be 4:00 I believe. -
I definitely think Warren has underachieved. I think they are much better than their record indicates. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat anyone besides Orangefield.

Orangefield 8 Hardin 0

Guess you were wrong about that. Got their “beat down” this week as you call it…

If you were at the games this weekend and didn’t see anything classless then you yourself may be. There are no hard feelings from Orangefield from losing. CH is without a doubt the better team after watching the 2 games. If you need a description of classlessness, taunting the other team, mocking and degrading them, anything other than yelling to root for your team is uncalled for. Orangefield yelled all season FOR their kids, but never once yelled at opposing players. We have knocked other teams pitchers off them mound and we clapped them all the way to their dugout. Which is just decent and having good sportsmanship. CH would yell degrading things at the opposing pitchers as they were leaving the mound. This happened Thursday and today from CH spectators, from CH players and even some questionable things from the coaching staff. Winning with class would be kicking our butts, which they did, without taunting, mocking or anything else. That without a doubt did not happen. Regardless of what you have “seen” from them.

Regional Quarterfinal Orangefield vs Central Heights Predictions
Sports10 replied to Sports10's topic in High School Baseball
This is true. But you have to start somewhere for comparisons. Most of these common opponents were on the same weekend in the same tournament. OF was 4-0 out scoring opponents 34-5. While Central Heights was 2-2 out scoring opponents 13-11. Playing 3 like opponents in 4 games. I do agree that comparing opponents means next to nothing. Kids could be in basketball still, pitchers were different, etc. But like I said, it’s the only thing we have to go by until we see them on the field against each other Thursday night. -

Interesting take. Orangefield has beaten Carthage, Tatum and Buna just to name a few with someone other than their #1. All 3 of which are pretty solid teams, and 2 of them are still playing. So I guess we will see.
