They hired a guy that went to the finals and semi finals in back to back years during a financial crisis\emergency. Was it the same Superintendent that hired both coaches?  If so I would imagine the community wouldn’t settle for these spending habits with such little success.  If they move to 6A next alignment BH nor Crosby would be ready to compete at that level so the Coach really doesn’t matter I guess.

I just looked back at your record all the way back to 2012, unless maxpreps is wrong, BH made it to the 3rd only once during that timeframe.  There have been 2 schools now that after making head coaching changes they went deep into the playoffs the second year.  BH probably pays a lot more than either of those schools and didn’t see the same success.  It isn’t a jab, it is fact. 2nd round success is sufficient, got it!

How did PNG get it so right? Was it the Dodge effect?  Barbers Hill has tried twice and these schools are very similar except for the growth that is happening in BHISD. They went with a big name and don’t have much to show for it as compared to a couple of other schools in the area.

So why you think Nederland always found a way to beat PNG during the past 10 years or so?

That’s what people say about Crosby too!  Crosby supplied the school and Barrett provided the athletes.  I will say though sometimes it has some racial tones to it.

Nah this isn’t a surprise at all. Aledo’s program is on a different level than any program in this area besides Katy and now North Shore. In 5AD2 they were physically imposing with one of the best coaches to ever do it at the helm, but you already know all of this.

As a Retired Navy guy I feel like you don’t make that trade for either of them.  Whelan did this:Whelan received this sentence for, among other things, attempted larceny, false statements, and dereliction of duty: A BAD CONDUCT DISCHARGE!!!! Unless he has appealed this and gotten it changed(which isn’t the easiest thing to do) he doesn’t get any veteran benefits.  So I’m my eyes, he’s not a veteran! I asked a buddy last night after the game what changed and he said, man we had a guy come in and he basically learned the kids.  He put them where they needed to be.  We also got in the weight room and they worked their butts off. He also said, there has been sightings at the Wheelhouse that Coach Joseph is a regular guy. He brought the old PNG style of football back to PNG. 

Anybody know how Sulphur Springs did?

PNG did what it wanted to on offense, LH defense was horrible. LH did miss those RB’s but what a game plan.  The Indians dominated both sides of the ball.

Like I said two months ago, FBM is not a well coached team and does a lot of dumb stuff if you can show you can hang with them. Thats exactly what they did last year against BH, you could see the quit on about half the team as they slowly walked in for halftime and back out for the start out the second half.  

I'm waiting for our buddy @Cougar14.2 to tell us why the great demographics advantage that FBM had didn't play out in in this one?

 

 

Actually last year I think he said BH had a great shot at beating FBM in the playoffs if I’m not mistaken(I’m not, I right).  I don’t want to speak for him, but he’d probably say, how did PNG get it so right with the coach on the first try when BH spent the $$$ without the results.  Same types of schools, same types of budgets, different results!
