yes, sly. And yeah, BPM this is certainly unusual for College Station. It is the first murder in two years there. That is a great statistic for a city with now close to 90,000 permanent residents plus 45,000 college students. Bryan on the other hand.... So, what dorm do you live in? -

Well, the latest news is interesting, but I don't think it would be appropriate to post it right now. It can be found on the chronicle website though. -
check your PM godogs.

Pretty much, and he got dogged for it..as he should have. I doubt the media will say much about Gillispie doing it though since Kentucky, along with Duke, are the media darlings of college basketball.

This is a quote from Forward Josh Carter “I understand, but he always talked to us about being adults and being men, and you would think as a man he would have called his players and talked to us about it,” I think that was a good quote from a young man who is obviously upset, but handled it with class.

heres the thing for me.... Kentucky sent the contract to Gillispie when he got back from the Final Four in Atlanta. He was told that if Billy D turned them down he would get the offer which he said he would accept. He had a meeting with his team that night (after he got the contract) yet he didn't say anything to the players about this at least potentially happening. He then signed the contract yesterday and flew out in the middle of the night. That is what bothers me.

This was the article form the Chronicle that I quoted from earlier. I think its a fairly good article, especialyl since it was written by a UT grad. -

I am not sure where Katz got this list from, but I was a little surprised at the names. Since Byrne has arrived, he has been all about Texas connections and getting coaches that have them. The only one on that list with any Texas connection is Dixon who went to school at TCU, but I don't think he has been in Texas since then.

Andy Katz from ESPN is reporting that A&M will pursue Jamie Dixon from Pittsburgh (played his college ball at TCU), Mark Fox from Nevada, Tim Floyd from USC, and Scott Sutton from Oral Roberts. Katz described A&M's opening as highly coveted due to a "frenzied fan base", new facilities in the work, and the money that A&M is willing to pay. He also reported the salary A&M will pay is going to be double of what any of the coaches make now.

no not really. I am obviously upset that he is leaving, but I can understand it. Its Kentucky. Coach Gillispie has devoted his life to basketball and is so passionate about it and he wants to be at a place that has that same passion. While there were certainly a lot of basketball fans at A&M, it will always be football first, because that is the culture in our state. This is a dream for him and I think most people expected that this might happen. Gillispie brought us to the Sweet 16, showed our alumni and the country that A&M can be a winning basketball program and because of him there has been significant investments with new facilities that will go forward. He has set the program up to do great things and leaves us in much better shape than when he showed up. It is up to Bill Byrne and the athletic department to find someone who can keep it going and with the financial resources A&M has and the desire now for a winning basketball program, it should be able to do so. While I am saddened by this news, if you had asked me if we could get a coach to come in and lead A&M to three 20+ win seasons and 2 NCAA tourneys, including a Sweet 16 and top 10 finish, but that coach will leave after three years, I would have gladly taken it. I wish him luck and I know that he will do well, as he has done well everywhere else he has been and I thank him for showing people at A&M that we can have a strong basketball program. -

He has, but commitment means very little in the world of coaching today. Kentucky will likely make him the highest paid coach in America. -
