Jim Hicks with RCS Sports opinion: The Manvel / Beaumont Ozen game was postponed until today (3pm @ Atasscocita HS) after the refs failed to show up. According to Eric Alexander, the president for the Houston Chapter of Basketball Officials; "The Houston Chapter had nothing to do with that game. The UIL was in charge of officials and they have a San Antonio crew scheduled." Often when you have a Beaumont area team playing a team from Houston, one or both coaches will seek UIL to schedule a set of refs from another region. This comes with pros and cons. The most common risk is the fact that many refs from other regions may not have called many games involving the speed or talent level of our Region 3 teams. Therefore, their fuse may be a bit shorter when it comes to secondary things which come into play during the course of a game. Regardless of the case, and no matter who is calling the game, one team will lose the game. So that proves that somebody will be pissed afterwards, and guess who is likely to get some of the blame?

I predict Silsbee to win big and send a message to everyone in region 3, and TX that they are #1 for a reason. After watching HJ struggle against BT Washington I don't see HJ being competitive after the 1st qtr tonight. HJ just doesn't have the players or experience to RUN with Silsbee

This Yates Team is young and doesn't have the experience of playing together like Silsbee. The Young Lions are hungry and it will be A Fun Game to watch if they ever met up

Assuming both teams make it to Sam Houston, it should be a fun game to watch. Yates will be the under dog against #1 Silsbee lol. Yates will press the entire game regardless if we are winning or getting blown away, so this particular game should be at a fast pace. Hope the refs are in shape to keep up with both teams.

HJ struggled with a very weak B T Washington team last night. I left the gym at the end of the 1st qtr because it was like watching paint dry. I don't see HJ being able to handle Silsbee Press. Silsbee wins big -50

I'm not convinced that Yates has the guard play to handle Silsbee Press. If and that's a Big If Yates can broke their press the game should be interesting. No excuses for the North Forest Loss, but game 2 this Friday should be a totally different game. We look forward to the challenge of being the underdog and playing The #1 4a Silsbee Tigers at Sam Houston
