1.
HJ JV and Varsity at Lumberton 4pm and 6pm.
Thanks...
2. Hmmm you listed HJ @ Lumberton along with Lumberton @ HJ, whats up with dat Varsity and Jv game, would like to make the Varsity game if I knew where and time, thanks in advance
3. I don't know all 4 mentioned above BUT a cpl are getting their first chance at HS ball, so who would you attribute their sucess to at this point, the poster was IMO just commenting the boys were doing what it takes to make a HS coaches job somewhat easier when the time comes. You should feel lucky to have a son playing under Coach Griff, he along with some others go above and beyond to promote and make their players better in all aspects of the game. With my son, I can and will say HS ball did absolutley nothing promoting him other than providing a venue to play, I say this in both promoting AND adding to the talent he already had entering HS. ANY parent of a talented kid should not wait on the HS coach to promote NOR blame him for not promoting, if he does its a plus no dought. IMO the promoting should start before the senior yr and most coaches that do promote do it during the senior yr. BTW my son did not play select as it was new at the time, he made it the old fashion way....Another thing I will say anytime a kid steps on the field he should play like its his last game as you never know whos in the stands watching someone else, thats >>>exactly<<< what happened in our case....
Is he the kid from Lumberton?
Just 1 of them, he's one that don't get mentioned, BUT with the work he's puttn in LOOK for that to change, he's been working with a Ex MLB pitcher and it shows...
5. If so, its truely sad, this IS a byproduct of SELECT ball...
Bitter much?  An old saying comes to mind, "To each his own."
Bitter??? no reason to be...IMO the first yrs of the Sundevils is what this area needed>>all local boys but as it has been said "We spread our wings">in other words WE left some homeboys, went and recruited out of state players so WE can compete on a larger stage. There are enough of the ones left behind that do get schollarships to fill a roster without the wing spreading and still compete, I along with others would much rather see a 75-80% schollarship rate with ALL local boys rather than 100% with 50% out of the area players. Eagle how many out of state players does Mike Rutledge carry on ANY team and if I'm not mistaken he has a cpl of nationally ranked teams also and has for YEARS. I do commend Chip on what he has done for OUR local boys BUT could care less about the out of the area players
Well shoot a cpl of Does then, besides some are smarter than most bucks...
10. Well thank GOD for the Sundevils, if not for them what would these boys do, probably be sackers at Market Basket or door greeters at Wal-Mart....
11.
we tried to go in the intercoastal, but they sent us packing because of the oil spill.  then we were fishing for flounder by the coast guard station, but apparently we were too close, even though there were no signs up saying we couldn't fish.  then, at the end of the trip, we were told that the whole waterway all the way to the jetties was shut down, and we needed to return to the boat ramp immediately.  the coast guard cutter was even kind enough to sit and watch while we packed up, not leaving until we had gotten the boat started.
In the yrs past I have no idea HOW many flounder I've caught in front of the Coast G station without a word being said, last fall I was told to leave before I got close to the bulkhead on 2 seperate occassions. The next time I get boarded by them I will ask the reason....
12. Make no mistakes about it >>politics ARE in all HS sports, its the dads wearing knee pads that get me. If I had a child that was told he must play another sport to play BB I would have a serious problem with that, when mine did play the only way he (they) could get in athletics was to be on the football team, I think I helped change that somewhat yrs back. I would NOT let mine play football from Jr H on, he was totally dedicated to BB....
13. Just because a player is on a select team don't mean squat AND just because a guy has a job of being a HS coach dont meen squat either, if I were a HS coach I would love to have a team with a few players that were coached by Ex college or MLB players>>how can that be a bad thing. I will agree just because a kid played select ball don't make him any better BUT I too think its the coaching some recieve on some of these select teams that does make them better NO DOUGHT ABOUT IT. You Nay sayers need to do a little research and see just how many Ex Pro players sons are now college or MLB players, could the reason be the coaches (dads) knew exactly what it takes and how to get there...and I'm fairly sure their HS coaches were glad to get them...
14. OK in some of your ways of thinking I guess the rut last from late Aug (first rub and scrape found) till Jan or Feb, I have and will continue my way of thinking of when the rut is mentioned it refers to the 'week before, the peak of and the week after' NOT secondary or ANY breeding that may take place during or after season. I (we) must have some retards or gay bucks on our place West of Lumberton as I had 5 bucks eatn in a food plot at the same time last Thurs eve when they should have been out looking for girlfriends...
15. Dr James Kroll, I'm not, BUT I've never seen a doe urinate on a rub, google, 'why do deer make scrapes' or why don't you put a trail cam up on a rub and see how much activity you get of deer using it...
16. A rub has nothing to do with the rut>>period, historicly the rut in the lakes area is close to Nov 13, it is time for a secondary rut up that way, but don't look for as much activity as in the primary rut...
17. Told Ya'll their just getting started! NOAA 'CHAMPIONS' ANOTHER CLOSURE No Red Snapper Fishing Until Further Notice December 4, 2009 - On Thursday afternoon, President Obama wrapped up a jobs forum in Michigan by challenging the nation's top CEOs, business leaders and economists to come up with innovative ideas to put Americans back to work. At the same time, NOAA Fisheries issued pink slips to thousands of South Atlantic and Gulf fishermen who rely on access to a healthy red snapper fishery. On December 3, NOAA announced a 6-month ban on both the recreational and commercial harvest of red snapper in South Atlantic federal waters off Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina beginning on January 4. The provisions specified in the interim prohibition rule also apply to a person on-board a vessel for which a federal commercial or charter/headboat permit for the South Atlantic snapper-grouper fishery has been issued, regardless of whether the fish are harvested or possessed in state or federal waters. U.S. Congressman John L. Mica (FL-07) called the Administration's decision to impose the ban on red snapper fishing throughout the Southeast U.S. coast an economic disaster for the region. "During this time of economic downturn this ban will be a significant job killer and an economic blow to nearly every coastal community from North Carolina to South Florida," stated Mica. Dave Heil, a Florida-based attorney for the Recreational Fishing Alliance RFA) has filed a lawsuit in federal court in Jacksonville and will seek an emergency injunction to prevent the ban from taking effect and asking a judge to throw out the rule that created the ban. "We have today filed a lawsuit in Federal Court in Jacksonville, FL and we feel confident that once a federal judge reviews the arbitrary and capricious methods used by the National Marine Fisheries Service, the closure will be overturned," Heil said. Heil and the RFA charge that the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (SAFMC) and National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) are using improper data to drive their decision, and explain the government has already acknowledged that the data collection methodology used to make the closure determination was never intended to be used for such purposes. The red snapper complaint filed on behalf of the RFA charges NMFS with ignoring mandates from the federal fisheries law (Magnuson Stevens Act) to address inconsistencies within the data collectionprocess. "It is apparent that the SAFMC and the NMFS have ignored the Magnuson Stevens in passing the Interim Rule using the obviously flawed data from MRFSS," Heil added. "This ban will put thousands of marginal sport fishing tourist enterprises out of business," Rep. Mica said, adding "The timing couldn't be worse for Florida with its tourism and fishing seasons set to begin at the start of the New Year and with the economy at its worst in years.". At a NOAA sponsored tackle trade show summit in October held in San Diego, CA, Under-Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and NOAA Administrator, Jane Lubchenco told tackle industry leaders that NOAA was actively responding to the concerns expressed by recreational fishing leaders "that we don't pay enough attention to recreational fishing," summarizing her address by saying "We will be your champions." In her first 9 months as NOAA Administrator, the former Pew Fellowship Award winner has championed the complete recreational closure of black sea bass, amberjack and red snapper. "If this is what Ms. Lubchenco means by being our champion, I'd hate to think about what NOAA will do when they decide to really go after us," said Jim Donofrio, Executive Director of the RFA. Donofrio said the RFA has already submitted a legal challenge in the Mid-Atlantic in response to the NOAA's decision to close the sea bass fishery, and he's hoping that the RFA FL membership base can help rally around Heil's legal challenge on behalf of red snapper. "NOAA continues to put nails into the coffin of the beleaguered recreational marine industry, while the preservationists over at Pew Environment Group are already dancing on our graves," Donofrio said. Soon after NOAA's announcement about the red snapper closure, Holly Binns, manager of the Pew Environment Group's Campaign to End Overfishing in the Southeast said "Today's decision symbolizes an important first step towards saving the severely overfished red snapper." Many southeast fishermen dispute Pew's claims that the snapper are overfished and say the science being used is flawed and misleading. In July, Rep. Mica introduced legislation that requested additional data collection before any ban was imposed, although the legislation had bipartisan support, environmental groups like Pew Environment Group and Pew-funded allies within the Marine Fish Conservation Network blocked consideration of the bill which was denied a hearing. "They're imposing a ban with flawed data and they've refused to sit down with the industry and come up with a better management solution,"Mica said. In addition to the latest legal challenge submitted in Jacksonville, RFA continues to seek support from Florida Senator Bill Nelson for the Flexibility in Rebuilding American Fisheries Act of 2009 (S-1255). "Recent amendments to the Magnuson Stevens Act have led to these arbitrary and unprecedented restrictions on many of our most important recreational fisheries in the Gulf and South Atlantic," Donofrio said. "We believe that Magnuson can be amended to allow a balance of conservation and access at the same time." More than 150 groups, organizations and businesses have signed on with the RFA to support S-1255, including Cooperative of Gulf Fishermen, Destin Charter Boat Association, Fishing Rights Alliance, Indian River Charter Boat Association, Marco Island Charter Captains Association, Panama City Boatmen Association, Pensacola Charterboat Association and South Atlantic Charterboat Association. National supporting groups include Marine Retailers Association of America, National Association of Charterboat Operators and National Marine Manufacturers Association. 18. Roy Crabtree is a lieing SOB and its been proven on more than 1 occassion, once in front of a town hall meeting hosted by Nick Lampson in League City and his statements are a matter of record . I really don't know IF you've been following this JUNK but I have, the Ocean Conservancy along with the PEW Foundation are pushing for catch shares on the gulf and sitting in wait with millions of $$$ to buy the shares>>>do you honestly think 1 will get used, its just another way to get us (the Recs) OFF the water. Do you also know when they do their 'JUNK SCIENCE' counts on the Red Snapper they DO NOT count any fish on ANY oil rig in the Gulf, I could go on n on. If you want a shocker Google MPAs and see where the antis are going with this crappola. Don't look for any change till they are forced do a MAJOR overhaul on the 'Magnusan-Stevenson"
19. Hey D, I know a 84y/o man that did the exact thing, the only differance it was in the stands sitting next to a woman, after all was said and did she was the best spectator in the park....you know whom I'm speaking of....
20. Some kids are NOT scholars, if not for BB I would have had to pay some serious $$$$, although mine was recruited and signed early with Lamar in 98 he elected to go the JUCO route, he/we have not regretted going that route, you will find most JUCOs are in a small town inviroment and easy to fit in, some are indeed Baseball factories. Some how mine even got a scholarship for summer school, I asked no question and got no lies...
21. I would say yes >>as long as he's in the 'box' when pitcher commits to the plate, he would have to be fast tho, BTW, the catcher has the only positition thats marked on the field and the only player that may be outside the field of play (foul teritory), I'm sure Mr Ump will chime in with the actual ruling, I know he's somewhat antsy this time of the yr....
22.
Must not have many does if they are all bred.
In our N Pasture of 3500 acres, that was our intention along with TPWs when we went to LAMPS, 4yrs back we were seeing many with no fawns, today you will see most all with at least 1. I dought we will use all permits this yr, BUT let a mature doe come out with no fawns. Bullets I see your up in N Tex, I have NO idea when they do their thing up that way, I do know in the lakes area you could pretty much set your watch for the peek to be around the 14 of Nov....
23.
i got a thompson-center encore.  i have a 25-06 barrel on it right now.
Mmmm I love me some Encore, mines got a 280Rem barell with a 204Ruger barell sittn in the closet waitn...
24.
we found our first scrape saturday.  i'm not sure why they're starting so late.  we went back sunday and it was much larger.  i had a borderline 8-point come out in front of me saturday morning, and actually had does come out to him.  he seemed much more interested in the corn on the ground than he did in chasing the does.
Where are you hunting?? Here a cpl of miles West of Lumberton the main Rut is OVER no question about it, I go EVERY day, have been finding and watching scrapes since late Aug, just yesterday I looked at 5-6 and none have been worked since before the rain 2+ weeks ago. We too have taken 6 does to date and all have been bred, one of which was taken the first week and had a 2-3" fetus, I'm sure we will take 10 or so in the comming weeks, surely most will be bred, but my mission is to pick the 'baron does' out of the herd. IMO if your wanting to hunt the Rut go SOUTH or WEST
25. We had 3 deer n 1 hog taken west of Lumberton, all were personal best, 18"8pt, 16"8pt, my 7y/o nephew got his first deer (doe) I had 9 in food plot at the same time along with a 17" 9pt, another legal buck showed at the feeder a little later, we had 6 hunters Sat morn all but 1 saw deer and IMO the 1 that didn't was in the best stand, I'm thinking the hogs have taken it over the last week...
