So the shockers have only had 51 players pass graduate their organization since 2008??? I guess maybe that's right but I thought shockers was a very large organization.

If jasper was all about the fans why wouldn't they play 3. What fan doesn't want to see these two teams lock horns 3 times.
Watered down the way i see it, just like allowing 4 teams in the playoffs. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! It has less meaning to have more than one in each position. ???
The only people giving it "less meaning" are the adults on this site. Try this. If you don't have anything nice to say just keep your mouth shut. Congrats to all who made the team. It's nice to get a little recognition for all the work you boys put in. Looks like a good number of underclassman on this team. Should be another great year in 20-4A next year.

Hopefully this doesn't effect any of the kids who are returning to the team next year. -
Really hate this for those kids. They don't deserve the punishment Someone needs to be held accountable
No doubt. It seems the kids are the only ones being held accountable at the moment. -
When was the last time 19 took 3of4 from 20. I'm guessing they've never swept?????

What are the tie breaker scenarios with these two teams? Isn't WB a game back?

20-4a Playoff Picture- Things getting interesting!!
So if Lumberton Loses to Ozen, and Vidor beats LC-M ... there will be a 3 way tie for 3rd/4th... so then they all get together flip coins evens play and Odd man awaits the winner to play for seeding.... Am I understanding this correctly? if all three flip and evens play that means the Odd team would automatically have a play off spot... then the winner of the evens would then have to play the odd to see who gets 3rd and 4th.... Someone please let me know if I have wrapped my mind around this correctly...
Sounds like you nailed it. Should be a fun friday and saturday for us fans.
So when would the seedling game be? When do playoffs start. I wonder if Lumberton will use their best pitcher against Ozen?
I'm pretty certain all of the seeding games would need to be played saturday. I think they could possilby play monday, but no one wants to play monday and then their opponent flips them for wed. -

As pet district 20-4a handbook 14. TIE-BREAKERS A. Head-to-head in district play will not be used as a determinant for breaking ties. -
If you were a umpire what would your call be on this play?
espn2 replied to Javelina's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
That is understandable. Many an umpire has supported his fellow umpire and not over turned a bad call as to not make him look bad. We would not expect anything different from you. ( iam assuming you are an umpire since you were at the meeting the other night). -
This is a paragraph out of a handout called the "Umpires Helper" Sometimes when the runner and fielder collide, no penalty should be applied. The umpire must judge whether someone's rights were violated. This applies mainly to plays where the throw and the runner are arriving at the same time. There is no such thing as a must slide rule. When a runner collides with a fielder attempting to field a batted ball, he should be called out in almost all cases. If the runner collides with a fielder attempting to catch a throw, the umpire must first decide if the collision was intentional, then decide if the act interfered with, impeded, hindered or confused the fielder. If the runner is legally in the base path and simply running the bases when a collision occurs, he is not out. If he deviates from his path and/or intentionally interferes, or makes malicious contact, he is out. In sliding to a base he must be able to reach out and touch the base with his hand. If he slides into a fielder while more than an arms length from the base it is interference if the fielder is attempting a play. If a runner goes into a base standing up and this act hindered the fielder in an attempt to make a play, it is interference. If he does not slide, he must get out of the fielder's way.
If he does not slide he has to avoid contact, which by this picture, there is enough evidence to show that was not the case. He did not slide and did not avoid contact. Runner is out. -
is 19 4a the toughest baseball district in SE Texas?!
espn2 replied to Atomic Dawg's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
They may very well be this year. But the playoffs are the time to prove it. Someone might could look it up, but i don't believe they've ever done better than a split with 20-4a. If wrong i apologize, but i'm close. Maybe this will be the year. -
Anyone have accurate records for all these teams heading into district? I know everyone is 0-0 now but just for the sake of conversation.

Nick Foshee. 85+ fb, 6,4" maybe 5", add the Bump, it looks the ball is coming from the center feild light pole, Smart Baseball player. Colby Schiralla, "Lights Out", he may never see the bump because his catching is so good. Nicks, not so little brother, Eric (Big Easy) Foshee, God given talent we all dream about, he is a freak. 88+ and im being conservative. And, yes And, Vidor has 5 others that can pitch as well. 9 Pitchers. Thats my count. I feel confident any of those 9 can win a game, I can't think of a season that Vidor had so much pitching. Could be the Year of the Pirates, cause you know Coach Green likes pitching.
GREEN - REX- GRAY..Vidors biggest weapons with the talent they have year end year out....Sounds like Vidor has a lil something this year..
then why can't they win a first round playoff series w all this talent they have year in and year out? Coaching?
That's not very nice. Can't we just let everyone talk about their own team and keep this positive. -
This should be a very fun district to watch this year. I believe there will be top level pitching match ups every tuesday and friday. It wouldn't suprise me if any of the top 5 teams were to win the district or get left out of the post season all together. With that being said here is my humble opinion at this time. 1. Nederland- When Duplaint is right he's the best all round player in the district. Without him the bulldogs are good enough to win the district, with him they are the hands down favorites. 2. PNG- Legit #1. If they can fill a few holes on defense left by graduation they will give Ned all they want. 3. Livingston- Lantrip, is the real deal and they showed last year they have enough to go with him to compete with the top teams in the district. Now a year older and a year better. 4. Vidor- Yet another top tier starter, in Smith. I hear Fochee (sp) is looking like a 1a. Add that to returning almost thier entire lineup and the sky is the limit. This might actually be a bit low, but pretty tough list. 5. LCM-The bears return some nice arms but will miss the bats that graduated last year more than people think. Graduated 6or7 hitters. 6. Lumberton- New coach, who I believe will instill the disapline needed for long term success for the raiders, but it might take a year or two. However, I am predicting a big step in the right direction and they will play spoiler for at least one of the top 5. 7. Ozen- Very good #1 starter, they seem to always play the spoiler role, but can't quit crack the top 4. I don't see them having the depth to change that this year. 8. Central-Sorry, don't know much about them. Wow, I gained more respect for the district as a whole just typing that. Can't wait for Spring.

I think this could be the year 19-4a finally gets the upper hand. Png vs lee: png all the way. Lcm vs Crosby: Crosby prob more athletic and the pitching edge in the one gamer. Livingston vs GCM: great pitching matcgups in this one. Should be a fun series but I would give goose the edge. Ned vs BH: if Ned goes one game they have a shot with brown. If three BH shouldn't have a problem with their depth. I feel those 3top teams in 19 are all loaded. 19-4a 3 20-4a 1
Who pitched for Ned????
Just wondering how Ozen scored 5 runs. I would've thought Brown or Fontenot would've held them to basiclly nothing. Were there some errors to blame?????
