I am good at math but might not completely understand how the tax system works. 40 hrs. = X dollars - taxes now OT = X dollars - taxes now OT will probably put you in a higher tax bracket and you will either owe the government or will get a smaller refund because of it. ___________ 40 hrs. = X dollars - taxes OT = X dollars OT will put you in a possibly higher tax bracket because you brought home even more money that was not taxed. If there isn’t a special box to check on your W2 when filing your return, then the tax break you got on overtime will be paid here.
