  1. I'm a give and take kinda guy. I can live with that assessment. Thanks for seeing my point. Some people have to be hit over the head with a 2x4 just to make them see the point. Also, before anyone accuses me, I'm not paranoid. I simply try to see the big picture and protect my rights, after all, they're all I have.
  2. I was wondering how long it would be before I read the "If you have nothing to hide" stance. Before your company drug tested you, you had to sign a release saying that you would willfully submit to random drug testing. Your signing was a waiver to your rights and you gave it no second thought as to the consequences at all. How can you say it is not a rights issue? Maybe some night the cops will kick down your door saying, "Just checking!!!" Bet you'd be the first to ask them where is their warrant.
  3. True enough. All I am trying to do is get my perspective out there. I don't expect everyone to agree with my stance because I know how people are. We want a drug free society, but expect someone else to do things that we as parents should be aware of in the first place, even if it means giving up precious rights.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Note, I said on any level. If you really want to do something to actually stop the drug problems of this country, then we need to start bombing the poppy fields of Afghanistan and the coca fields of Columbia and Peru. Anything less than that, you are just peeing in a bottle. Let's really attack the problem first hand and quit settling for a clear conscience while watching sports.
  5. Fantasy or not, isn't that what we, as a society, are striving for?...Utopia? If you are not going after Johnny football player, who are you going after, little Sally in the drama club? Yeah right. Last time I checked, steroids were not a mainstream drug. Carry that "it's our duty" flag and see where we are in 20 years. We lose our valuable rights everyday and just sit back and watch. I'm not fat.
  6. I believe drug testing on any level is a violation of rights to privacy and constitutes illegal search. I do not condone drug use, but taking a drug test is to presume guilt and forces you to prove your innocence. Totally backwards. I know I stand alone because everyone wants to go after Johnny football player and level the playing field. What a farce. What about the real drug users who are caught? Are you going to help them or just discard them and hope you can sit in the stands and enjoy a drug free football game? aren't you the pillar of the community? What a nice way to treat kids who are at the stage in life where they need our guidance instead of being pushed aside. I believe my kid has the right to attend his school without any social body conducting illegal searches without just cause....just like I don't want a cop to pull me over just because he feels like it. Think of the innocent kids who will have to go through these processes of mistrust doled out by we adults. I think that just because there is no tangible solution to the problem, then we just punish everyone so as to make sure we get the guilty parties, without so much as a whisper of concern for the innocent kids whose inalienable rights we have infringed upon. If my kid is on drugs of any kind, I will be the first to know and will not need outside assistance. Raise your own kids and send them to school without fear of them being violated. Be a better parent.
  7. Neumann said in the paper that this kid will be one of the best backs in the country.
  8. That 17-18 year old Babe Ruth team has some really good players and should go far. With Matison Smith, Brandon Powell, and Eric Sparks pitching, and the bats of Aaron Dalton, Chris Laird, and Taylor McInnis, this should be a hard team to stop. Good luck to them and the 16 year olds.
  9. Well, it's about time. That guy is awesome. Congrats.
  10. Good post bigred. I agree that being called classless is not so bad, just taking my stance. I bet every looky loo (I like that) has questioned a call from time to time, just not voiced it. (No one will own up to it though). I'm through with this topic. I have said my peace and I am ready for the tar and feathers which I am sure will ensue.
  11. Gee Penny, I guess you can't handle two questions at once. They were seperate. I guess I should have said 'also' in front of my third sentence. Absolutely nothing I said is laughable, except maybe to you. I have not bashed anyone on here, just questioned some decisions during a game. If that ruffles your feathers, then so be it. If a coach feels that his pitcher is not throwing his best stuff (walks, passed balls, base hits...etc) he may make a switch. Excellent call. If he has a batter who is not producing at the plate and his bat is up in the next inning where he really needs a hit, he may pinch-hit. Excellent call. If he has a defensive player who is making error on top of error, he may want to make a switch. Excellent call. All of these are tough calls to make, but in order to give yourself a chance to win, you have to make them. I think you take me the wrong way. Just because someone questions a coach, doesn't mean he is not pulling for his team. Heck, that's exactly what I am doing. I would like to get past the 3rd round. If that is where you are comfortable, then ok.
  12. No problem. Just voicing my opinion and they come crawling out of the woodwork. I don't mind being disagreed with, but attacks on my character I take offense to.
  13. Let me get this straight. You are making fun of people who are debating on the internet and you post a picture of a handicapped kid and referring to him as a retard? That's really not very funny in my book and, but for the grace of God, there go you. If you have nothing of substance to add to the debate, I suggest you go to another thread.
  14. Penny, Let me respond to you like this: 1. Don't ever make a personal attack on my character by calling me classless. You are not the epitome of class. 2. If a coach/manager cannot handle second guessing, he/she needs to find another profession. 3. If you honestly believe that a managerial decision could not have been made in game 3 that would have at least curtailed the bleeding of unearned runs, then you are simply a blind follower....something I will never be. To question authority is to have free will, to sit back and say nothing is gutless.
  15. Sure is tough to see an "L" put by a pitcher's name when he is doing his job creating ground ball outs, and the defense can't deliver. When routine outs end up scoring on you, you're in big trouble. These two guys hadn't pitched in more than a month. Were we prepared for a best-of-three series?
  16. Hey Vidor, don't start dragging your chin. If you play sports long enough, especially baseball, you are going to have the game from hell like this one....everyone does. Nederland is always competitive in baseball and they have a fine pitcher in Matison Smith. Congrats to him on a fine game.
  17. 1. Pride Of The Yankees....Gary Cooper as Lou Gehrig 2. 61
  18. Yeah, I guess the coach would be the one to ask. But when two great pitchers play for the same high school in different eras, the comparisons are bound to be made. I know Ehlert is a great pitcher, I was just wondering about his stamina.
  19. Thanks jdog, I looked right over it. Wish someone would answer my other question about Ehlert.
