  1. This is what I love about posting. Everyone intentionally misunderstands your point, takes it and makes stupid comparisons in order to discredit your opinion. You people are confusing good people with good parenting. Good people's kids do drugs, but if the parents were closer to their kids and, if they thought them suspicious, tested them themselves, instead of having the school district wipe their tail ends for them, then we might not be having this discussion. The first step towards good parenting is to get past the denial stage. Let's say that some kids are caught. What do we do? Kick them off the team? That ought to show them. Have you provided them with any recourse except to deprive them of playing sports? Hey, go pat yourself on the back and go enjoy your football or basketball game knowing that all players are clean. Did you really do anything to stop the drug problem? Nope.....here's your sign. To the people who like to make the apples to oranges comparisons, most serial killers were abused kids, either mentally or sexually by their parents, and/or were outcasts their whole lives. Judas Iscarot??? what a reach.
  2. tvc, i don't have a solution to the problem of deadbeat parents. It's a shame that some kids grow up without parental guidance and have to rely on the teachers to steer the way. Even a product of good parenting, such as myself, has gone back and thanked a previous teacher for showing them the attention they needed during the trying time of adolescence. But when it comes time to thank the ones responsible for who I am, my parents get all the credit. If I think my kid is on drugs, I will test him myself. There are some kids who will surprise their parents with a positive test, but for the most part, parents already have their suspicions but don't follow through for fear of pushing their kids away. It's so much easier to lay the responsibilty elsewhere, then act concerned. I think it is a travesty of justice to subject innocent kids to what I consider a demoralizing test, for the sole purpose of evening the playing field for sporting events and other extracurricular activties..... how shallow we have become. If I thought for one second that testing "users" would somehow curtail the drug problems of this country, then maybe I could redirect my views. What we have here is a flag toting public under the guise of stopping the drug problem. What a farce. That's akin to saying arrest all the crack users and the dealing will stop....not. Let's keep showing our kids how suspicious we are of them being potential criminals, and laying it off on the schools. What a positive effect for authority this must have on their impressionable minds.
  3. My son plays sports and is not on steroids. I say leave him alone. What gives anyone the right to test him? This is all brought on by deadbeat parents who are making a feeble attempt to shirk some more of their responsibilities. Let's make the school districts pick up our kids, babysit them for 8 hours a day, teach them how to read, write, and do arithmetic, counsel them, discipline them for us, coach them, teach them how to become responsible citizens, teach them about sex, oh yeah, and while you are at it, drug test the little imps for us, and then bring them home to us parents who have nothing else to do with them for the rest of their lives. Thanks.
  4. Great attitude BCB.....so true. I read in today's PA News that Todd Dodge is looking to SETEX for recruiting some players for his North Texas team. One of the first players he asked for tape on is Micah Mosley. UNT may not be big DI, but to have Dodge interested in you is an honor in itself. Anyone who might disagree with that statement knows nothing about Todd Dodge or HS football. I couldn't care less who is better. They were both fun to watch and both were winners.
  5. Mosley/Nederland/2400+ yards rushing....missed one game and also played hurt....team leader.
  6. You mean people still watch "THUG BALL"?. I gave up when Larry Bird and Magic Johnson retired.
  7. In the words of the immortal Willie Mosconi...."I'd rather be lucky than good anyday. You can beat someone who is good, you can't beat someone who is lucky." For the record, I don't believe in luck. You just got beat....end of story.
  8. Why in the world would anyone be upset with the Astros' payroll when Pettitte went to the freakin' Yankees. Looked at their payroll lately??? What a joke.
  9. Good, but my reply still stands to the person who did write that.
  10. quote] Do you need some kleenex?? you make texas fans look like a bunch of cry babies... you can thank mack brown for losing this one... and the aggies put cheap shots on McCoy all game?? Tell him to grow a pair... welcome to football!!
  11. I think the best way to decide this is to imagine that the game is on the line, there are two outs, and your last out is up to bat. Forget batting avgs. and HRs, who do you want to bat in that situation? I want Pujols!! I really don't have a problem with a player complaining when he has a legitimate shot at the MVP, however I don't think it should matter whether you're on a playoff team or not. Pujols is a class act and this is the first time I have ever heard of him being considered classless. He has always won with grace and lost with dignity. I wish Pujols was on my Astros!!!
  12. If Biggio stays healthy, I think he will play 'till he's 50....at least I hope so. What a clutch bat he is. I hope they keep Burke, but you know how it is. If you have to fill a void, then you have to let someone go. (How about Ensberg?)
  13. Oh yeah Diva, Luke Scott is an integral part of the Astros. He is the best bat after Berkman...at least I think so. To look at Berkman, he doesn't seem like he has a baseball bone in his body, but he is one of the best.
  14. I think this is a good signing since Clemens said he would not play for the Astros until they signed someone to bat cleanup. Berkman was getting too many intentional walks since pitchers didn't fear the hitter behind him, especially Ensberg. Berkman is their best hitter and needs to see some pitches. Lee should give him that opportunity. Hopefully Clemens will agree and play one more year.
  15. Micah Mosley/Nederland/ 37 carries--257 yds.--2 TDs
  16. Thanks man. I'm really not trying to PO anybody, just playing devil's advocate. I have qustioned our play calling from time to time, and I have seen it on other teams as well. Teams can be successful doing a certain thing all the way down the field. Then when in the red zone, all of a sudden change their strategy. I'm a firm believer in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" type mentality. If your spread is successful for 99 yards and 30", then it seems it should work for 6". If he ran the keeper from the shotgun, then that is a QB draw, which is usually very effective because the safeties can't bunch the LOS due to coverage. It also give your QB a chance to find a hole. I'll let this go because I know this kind of loss is hard to take. I just hate to see it all put on one coach, player, or play.
  17. Hey, I'm trying. I have seen lots, and I mean lots of QB keepers come up short or even lose yardage. The snap is often mishandled on a quick snap play like the keeper. Had he tried the keeper and failed, then he would be questioned for not going from the spread. I still say he went with what got him there. I truly don't think he coached to lose that game. One of my favorite plays close to the goal line (inside the 10) is to roll the QB outside with the option to pass or run it in himself. It's unbelievable how many times the TE or RB out of the backfield can be open on this play. Even Drew Bledsoe (concrete feet) has scored on this play by taking it in himself.
  18. Some of you WOS people might tell me to mind my own, but isn't that the same OC that had you undefeated 'till the Giddings game? When you have athletic QBs and RBs like WOS has year after year, I see no problem with the spread on the goal line. Please tell me the advantage of being under center as opposed to the spread, except for a QB keeper, which is absolutely not a guarantee either. He went with what got him there. Just my humble opinion....that and .50 cents might get you a cup of coffee.
  19. Reread my post about the watch, I guess it didn't sink in. My pacifier is that we made the playoffs when everyone was picking against us. If you dodged every game you are supposed to lose (on paper), you'd only play a couple games a year.
