Rusted, good post. I would like to address the fumble/forward pass call. That ended up being a 2nd and 15 down from a previous holding call on Vidor. The previous play, we sacked the QB for about an 8-10 yard loss. Had we not gotten that unsportsmanlike call, it would have been 3rd and about 30. The way our defense played all night, and especially on that last couple of series, do you really think Vidor would have converted? Of course you like to hope that it would have happened, and every team thinks that given ''one more shot'', they would prevail, but I happen to believe that we would have held on defense. Now, for ''THE PLAY".....It was ruled a fumble and that is the way it will be forever. Let's say for the moment that it was an incomplete forward pass. Do you realize that the ball hit an offensive lineman and that would have been ruled intentional grounding? Now, instead of just having an incomplete pass making it 3rd and 15, you get penalized 10 yards with loss of down and it is 3rd and 25....just about the same place it would have been had we not gotten the unsportsmanlike call. I still like Ned's chances from there. Vidor didn't pass well all night. There was a screen that got some yardage, but Vidor just kept running inside (as you have already stated) and we kept making stops for minus yardage. Vidor's backs are tough, but this is positively the best I have seen our defense play in quite sometime. Vidor seemed to have some success with the toss/sweep, but didn't stay with it. If my analysis of the series in question is inaccurate, please feel free to correct me. That is the way I remember it though. All in all, I say hats off to Vidor for a hard fought game. There was some hitting going on and that is the kind of game I like....even if we lose, I applaud the effort.

Great game dogs. Dionte, if you read this, thanks for being the sparkplug that this team needed. You throw the ball really well and step into the pocket nicely. Defense was awesome tonight. Man, I can't believe that Vidor band kept playing while we were trying to run plays on offense......geeezz!!  ;D

Who is Vidor ''close to''? It doesn't matter who we beat, it's district wins that matter. Anyone is our position would be saying the same thing. Who said we are on top? Don't throw stuff out there just because it sounds good.

I personally have not said anything negative about Central. I think anyone who may have doubted their success this year, would have been due to losing so many players and having a new coach. Generally, these two things thrown together mean big changes and brings on some chaos. I'm happy for Central. Who is this thread directed towards?

Thanks Soulja. I never look down. It's just a football game. It doesn't define who I am. No team can start off turning the ball over and going down by 14 in the first few minutes of a game and expect to win. It's like the writing on the wall. Nederland battles vey well, we are just susceptible to the big play and it's killing us. Turnovers and big plays equals the final score of this game. Of course, to make big plays, you have to have the playmakers, and Central seems to have them. Good luck.

All it did was add one week to DI. The undeserving teams will be gone by week two anyway. What if you are the 4th team? Won't you give it your all and be saying that this was the break your team needed to make their run? Of course it is.

Puma doesn't represent all of Nederland. PNG played a heckuva game and won...case closed. In closing, I will say this for my Bulldogs. I dare any team to play their 4th string QB and play as well as Ned did. The mistakes we made were almost expected. We also played some great defense except on the long pass plays. Congrats to PNG and let's move on.

FYI. Ned fans BOOED the PNG cheerleaders at midfield AND our school song FIRST! We merely reciprocated. In the future , get your story straight before you point fingers. Agreed PNGProud, Nederland booed the our cheerleaders.....Real classy but expected from Nederland. I love this, I hope this rivalry gets really heated after this year. Nederland is classless again, folks booing, PNG won... we may have the old rivalry back. Oh, and I love what we got coming up. What, a butt whipping from our JV and plenty of help coming back next year? Yea, I guess I do to. Varsity is a whole 'nother animal. You should know that.

Baddog and Penny. I agree with both, and no, I didn't boo either. It IS classless. I was merely pointing out WHY Ned was booed. Not condoning it. Poor sportsmanship is poor sportsmanship, regardless of who does it first. I don't go to PNG to boo. I go there to hopefully see us kick your butts in football. I think we did a good job of that early on, and except for a few big pass plays, we hung tough. If we can ever get past that turnover bug, I think we might win some game. Good game PNG.

....but expected from Nederland. What a crock of shat. Proud, I know our fans (students) booed and it sucked. Reciprocating is not the answer either. I think both sides need to rethink this rivalry crap. It doesn't bode well for either side. I was totally embarrassed.

I know this probably sounds strange coming from a female but why is there a lady announcer? I do not think I have ever heard a female announcer for a football team. Only females I hear in the press box is announcing the cheer squad or band. Does anyone else think a female announcer is a little weird? Most of the women on the TV networks do a great job covering football. I have yet to hear a female announcer though. I wouldn't have a problem with it, but she would have to be good, but then I can't stand a man doing a crummy job either.

We had the ball 1st and goal on the 2 1/2 yard line, and another series we had the ball 1st and goal at the 7. Both times we came away with 0 points trying to throw the ball and got intercepted both times. we're not going to beat anybody if we keep doing that. PNG wins this one by 2 TDs, if not more. I'm still a Dawg fan, but geeezzzzzz. Let's quit trying to fake people out and just take the ball and run 3 or 4 times.
