  1. If you are going to win the state title, you are going to have to play some good teams along the way. At least we have the opportunity to see what we can do against them. Anything can happen in football. Let's beat GP first.
  2. Isn't that called damning us with faint praise?
  3. From the moment I read the headline, I had the same reaction as tvc184. It's a mental check for the Bulldogs to get them overconfident. Neumann is too smart for this type of head game. He will have his players ready and fired up because there are no second chances in the playoffs and you take no prisoners.
  4. 92, I'm not sure I agree with that statement. If kids are afraid of getting their butt kicked in football, then maybe they shouldn't play, because I don't care how good you are, that butt kicking is down the road somewhere....pre-district, district, or playoffs....it's out there. Ask a kid, heck ask your Indians if they would like a shot at the playoffs right now, or sit at home because their record wasn't good enough. I bet you already know the answer to that one, so do I. Let's say WB won the district title out right and had to play SLC in the first round. What difference does a district title make for that contest? If you are 2-8 or 10-0, SLC is going to hand it to you. in the playoffs, you earn your shot at the next round, no matter your record. 85, it seems to me that early Ozen made the playoffs with a 2-8 record, or something like that. That woulod be considered a weak team. With a record like that, do you think most people think they deserved a shot at the playoffs? Probably not, but ask any of those Ozen players if they were glad to make it, I bet they were ecstatic.. There have plenty of district champs with terrible records from weak districts that have gotten it handed to them in the playoffs. I don't believe those kids were scarred for life. I think it was an exciting experience for them that they will never forget. The playoff system is designed to eliminate the weaker teams so that the title game is essentially between the 2 best teams. What could be better? Like I said, if you don't belong, you will find out soon enough. Just my humble opinion.
  5. Adding a 4th team to the playoff schedule only adds one week to the DI side. If having this many teams in the playoffs is considered watering it down with weak teams, the weak teams will probably be eliminated in the 1st or 2nd rounds anyway, and these kids (we are playing for the kids right?), even though they lost out, will have something to talk about for a long time. Then there's the argument ....what if a weak team gets lucky and knocks out a strong team? Tough, it happens all the time. It's called an upset. It all comes down to money anyway. The UIL is rolling in it with all these teams. I don't have a problem with 3 or 4 teams. Like I said, if you don't belong, you'll find out soon enough, or maybe you can peak and surprise some people.....that's football.
  6. I agree. But for me, it keeps me and my wife from sitting at home staring at each other.
  7. To Purple Pride, thanks for that great post. I think I speak for most when I say we are not used to people showing an enthusiasm and respect for Nederland football. Good luck to the Broncos next Friday. I hope it's a good game.
  8. Must be somebody with the same username. You could be twins. Threatening mods? Real smart. I bet he's shaking already.
  9. I'm surprised he hasn't deleted you. You're a jerk on every board you get on, especially the Nederland board. Vidor should be proud of you and your hatred. Actually, I know quite a few people from Vidor, they are nothing like you, and you represent them poorly.
  10. Quit exaggerating. We have never claimed to be the best in the state. In this district in the past 10 or 11 years, we have been a force to be reckoned with and always towards the top of the heap. That is something to be proud of and it just bothers some people. Which is worse? Someone who brags about their team's greatness and has the record to prove it, or the one who boasts of greatness but has the record to prove otherwise? Those are the ones who irk me.
  11. I gotta ask. Who else beat Dayton besides WOS and what was the score? Thanks.
  12. I've seen that guy plenty of times. What's his problem? I'll go out on a limb and say people "hate" (I hate that word) Nederland because we have either knocked them from the playoffs or they just don't identify with winners.
  13. I bet your bookie loves you. I love being the underdog.
  14. Thanks Go Dogs. I added something to my original post that I thought was important, so your quote doesn't include it. Maybe I should delete it.
  15. I usually don't talk "down" to anyone, but if you don't respect the fact that we have been to the playoffs 10 years in a row, then why should you keep harping on the game you won over Nederland by a 1/2 yard? We take a lot of pride in our record and our kids work just as hard as anyone. The wins don't just come to us, we earn them. If we can't boast about our record, then you should go across the field of the next team you play with a losing record and tell them to take down those school banners and signs the cheerleaders and co. made that say they are "#1". Good luck to LCM tonight. The wet fields favor a ground game.
  16. Wet fields favor the offense, especially teams with a strong ground game. Instead of eating someone's dirt, it'll be mud.
  17. No game is an easy win. Players have to work for everything they get. All plays still have to be executed. Final scores can lead you to believe it was easy, but ask the players if it was easy, and see if they are sweating and banged up. Nederland can win this game if their defense shows up like it did against PNG and Ozen. Go Dogs!
