  1. MCM at PNG's beautiful, new stadium!
  2. Difficult to test a kid for three years in a two year old program. Also difficult to put a price on a kid's llife (if that is indeed what we are doing :) but the UIL's stats show that amount to be $315,789.47. That's 19 positive test results divided into $6 million. Scaling that back to $2million, would be 1/3 of that amount. Kid's lives must be taking a downturn. Also 19 positives out of 47,000 tests shows that steroid use is not as rampant as originally thought. I bet more kids get killed crossing the street than dying from steroid use. Maybe we could spend those millions of dollars on "street crossing classes" and save many more lives than this futile programs. What's that? You say parent should teach their kids the proper way to cross a street? How dare we bring parents into this. It's the school's responsibility after the kids leave the house. : After all, let's get our money's worth from the school taxes we pay. But as self-righteous as we are, we will continue our flag waving ways, squandering millions of dollars, and believing that we somehow saved a kid from himself. How pompous, transparent, and shallow we truly are. I feel for other parents whose kids have gone wrong. I really do, but I just don't feel that I am somehow responsible and should throw money at it. I have a son and I talk to him about drugs. I have asked him on several occasions if anyone has ever approached him, attempting to sell him drugs. I look him square in the eye when he answers because I can tell if he is lying. (Yeah, I love my kid enough to know him this well) If I thought he was lying or if he said yes, I would get a name out of him, contact the school and police if need be, and by doing that, I will have personally saved countless lives by taking a DEALER off the street. What's more, it didn't cost the taxpayer one red cent more than the taxes they are already paying to the school and police. Gee, I guess I can now order my t-shirt and maybe even splurge on a hat pin.
  3. JMO, but I totally disagree with this statement. With the problem of steroids being a national problem and in the media (professional sports), I feel like that if kids are made aware of this problem early and the "threat" of them being tested is there, they will think twice about doing it. Scale it back, maybe; totally get rid of it, NO. Even if a handfull of kids test positive and they are "caught" at an early age, their life may be saved in the long run. I agree. What about those 62 that no showed on the day of testing? Seems like you would not tell the kids they are being tested beforehand, maybe some coaches have the heads up? Add the 62 to the 8 and you get 70. That's only if all 62 were to test positive. 70 out of 16000 is still 1/2 of 1 percent which is not a multi-million dollar problem. Yeah, I know. Here comes the guy who will say that if even one child is 'saved' (I hate that bogus approach), then the money was well spent. I tell you what, you send me multi-millions of dollars and I will assure you that you will have savd my one child. I'd even go on tv and let everyone know that their contribution was appreciated.
  4. Drug companies make most of them I believe...the people I've heard of using them were all using horse steroids. Read this article...controlling the pharmaceutical ones is easier... [Hidden Content]
  5. 8 out of 16,000....and I thought there was supposed to be a problem. Maybe if we poured these millions of dollars into catching the SOBs who make and distribute these drugs, which is money better spent and would save many more lives, then we wouldn't have to worry about saving these 8 kids. They would be clean and we wouldn't have to worry about making those teams forfeit all those games because they were caught cheating....which is what this is all about anyway.....winning football games, not saving lives. Have a nice day, and by the way, test your own kid!
  6. Thanks for not skipping over me. I hate that...
  7. Well we were putting a few, a very few of Bidens to counter Palins. Ok Lord knows I've misspoke and I've also sat dumbfounded with a brainfart at times. i know i have as well. it generally happens when i don't know a lot about the subject i'm talking about... i will say this: it seems that the quotes being brought up by biden mostly hinge on insensitivity. most of palin's hinge on ignorance (not stupidity). i can live with insensitive politicians, especially if they're likely just making a bad joke. an ignorant politician is a different matter, and i'm glad that we don't have a vice president who's having to learn the basics as she helps run the country. Really, you came awful close to having Hillary.
  8. This dumb as a sack of rocks seems to one of your favorite expressions. Rather that just throw these barbs out, tell us how many conversations you had with Ms. Palin and what did you use to make your "Dumb" assessment of her. Well, let me guess; you've never spoken to her have you. You did hear some of her speeches and some of her responses to questions. The speeches were good - the responses were not. Now answer this inquiry: how do you feel you would have done being bombarded by the same people with the same questions. I don't care if you answer me, but be truthful in your answer to yourself. I'm not dumb, at least not as a sack of rocks, but I know that had the media been grilling me on the wide array of subjects that were thrown at Ms. Palin my responses would have indeed been sketchy at best and more probably uninformed pretty much across the board. I certainly believe that she was uninformed and beyond naive (I've already stated that) in what she was expecting to take place. But, as some of you are so quick to point out - this is a forum and you can state your opinion in any way that you want. And with your continous use of the sack of rocks expression it causes me to wonder if we have a rock that is envious of a sack of rocks. Some people seem to get their point across without resorting to name calling. Another good post!
  9. Mine, because he basically said what I wanted to say, but in a much more meaningful and in depth way. hippy, you're cool with me. how about some karma points. it could be like 3rd grade. ;D
  10. Where were you when this thread started? We could have done away with a lot of these stupid posts if you had come on here first. Nice post.
  11. Please don't try and quote me because I never said to lower tuition...I stated that they needed to re-cap it, like it used to be. I would deal with it, but I have much more important things to do than what you're wanting me to do. Hope that doesn't offend. And, coop, if you take his off, please take mine off because it has taken a nose dive (by more than 200) in about the last month. I'm not crying because I really don't care and IT REALLY DOESN'T BOTHER ME. What's the age limit on here? I know that my son has posted...oh well, he wouldn't be considered a juvenile. A young man/adult, but not juvenile. Oh, never mind! I see that my earlier comment is proving myself true...thanks for the reinforcement. Here's some love for you though... :'( :-* :-*. See, I kissed it and made it all better! 8) OMG, you really are a juvenile. I mean what's next? na na na na na na?? (Here it comes folks) Your credibility with politics is nil. You speak out both sides of your mouth. One time you are OFFENDED (nice try throwing that at me, you are the sensitive one) with name calling, then you defend 85 and what he said to the kid. So you really don't have a stance, you just want to type and have people read it. Is it self-empowering? I haven't touched your karma, mainly because I don't care.
  12. yes and they were utterly tasteless in their attacks on her for having that baby. I don't agree with Obama on most of the issues but to me his kids are off limits. He's got two beautiful girls and they should be left alone. That wasn't the case with Palin's kids. And no, SFA-- her keeping the baby as well as welcoming her oldest daughter does not put her family values down the drain. It shows the high famliy values that she has. Oh, so now it's ok because she's who she is. Where were the warm fuzzies and high family values at when we were referring to children born out of wedlock were called bastards, or the kids who don't choose their parents and maybe couldn't afford to go to college were called simpletons (just in masses of course)... I honestly don't recall anything being said about Trig...but, I didn't stay glued to the t.v. either. Things that make you go.... ummmm........ Well, not really because it seems that the kids who make mistakes who come from broken/poorer families are not referred to as having high family values...just the ones whose parents can afford to help them with their child and help them get through school in order to make a better life for the both of them. Ahhh....I see! I'll explain it to you one more time. A bastard is a child born out of wedlock. If Palin's kid had a child born out of wedlock, it would be a bastard. Not name calling, that's the definition. Deal with it. On the simpleton...that wasn't directed at the kids whose parents couldn't afford college. It was directed at the simpletons who would then be able to get degrees when they weren't qualified because you wanted to LOWER the entrance fees. Get it straight or don't try and quote me. Your inconsistencies lessen any credibility. Have you ever gone through a drive-through, you were the only one in line, placed your order and they got it wrong? That's a simpleton. They're everywhere. Deal with it. Coop, can you take the karma thingy off my profile. There's some juveniles on here playing stupid games. It doesn't bother me, it would just take away some of their fun.
  13. He gets more convincing all the time. In Jack's defense, since you seem to enjoy rubbing someone's nose in it, ;D he didn't play every tournament either. He was off designing courses, some of the best and trickiest in the world. What makes Tiger so good to me, is that even when he does hit a bad shot and you think he should lay up, he cracks one to the green maybe even better than if he was in the fairway. He's also one of the best putters, which is what wins tournaments anyway. Kim needs to learn the Cardinal rule that...."100% of the putts that you leave short, don't go in"
  14. Should be a good final round today with Woods, the tounament host, paired with Kim, the reigning champ. I bet we see some excellent shots today. Maybe I can learn something.
  15. Dickie, I made a comment that Palin is an attractive woman (she has won some contests). It certainly doesn't mean I have a crush on her. It's just a personal observation. Just about all politicians are scripted, and when some have to talk off the cuff, they can come off as stupid. This is not unusual and certainly not the first time. Ronald Reagan was not a gifted speaker, and he is one of the more beloved Presidents. I think Palin being brought in was a shock and surprise to everyone, including her. I think the grueling pace and awe of the entire circumstances was overwhelming and she was just not ready for it. I still hardly classify her as stupid or dumb. Why she left the governor's office is a mystery. I have read that she may be under some type of investigation. If she comes up 'dirty', I will be the first to chastise her. There, that was pretty civil. ;D
  16. OK, Romo does play golf, and I hear he is very good....Tiger good?.....NOT! Can Tiger play football? ;D
  17. I took joy in winning $500. Had it been me winning the same money for LSU losing, my joy would have been the same. I won $500 betting the Agnots wouldn't make it to the CWS after they were picked to win the conference. ;D Next year I'm betting against USC. Again, congrats to LSU. I am not a sore loser. People say things without knowing my situation. I always give credit where credit is due. Being a hater eats you up inside. I can't be that way. LSU has a heck of a lineup. Texas was one out away from a sweep so I am still very proud of the way they played. The way this ended up, well that's just baseball and what makes it such a great game.
  18. Congrats to LSU on a great win over the best team in baseball ;D You took control and my Longhorns just couldn't bounce back. AAW, maybe someday you will be a true Texan.
  19. Neither one of those pitches hit the batter. What a ripoff !!!!
  20. I don't think we'll see Renaudo next inning.
  21. Texas needs to do more with bases loaded. Hook 'Em!!!
  22. Not a quote, but a Texas fan was holding a sign that read, "Deauxn't Mess With Texas"
