CWS Championship Series Thread..............

I can promise you this, both teams will throw the kitchen sink tonight, no matter how much rest any have had. Who is the home team and how is that decided? I think this may be the edge for either team...who bats last. -

Most people are still asleep at 5:00 am. Geez... Jungmann was just filthy. LSU had nothing for him. We looked lost at the plate tonight and that is due to a true freshman with great stuff. Hopefully we can get to Green tonight. With Renaudo going I feel better. On a side note, I thought Nolan Cain and Daniel Bradshaw were outstanding in relief. Byrd was throwing BP...not sure what Manieri was thinking when he brought him in...he said just a change of pace but... ??? Congrats Horns. I'm up at 4:00 am, but you were up after the game. Just messing with ya. I know about the "IFs" but Texas was one out away from winning game one and we won game two decisively. I like our chances very much. I won't talk smack. -

I think this is a must win for both teams. I don't think LSU wants to go to game 3. Texas had every chance to win that game. Ruffin was mowing them down after the HR in the 1st. Jungman looked like crap. He couldn't throw a strike if his life depended on it. Hats off to LSU for not giving up. Let's not nitpick about the curtain calls and stuff. The ''reeling them in'' incident by LSU was comical and both teams have an in your face attitude. These are the two best, and I wouldn't count Texas out by a long shot. Funny how Ags never pull for their conference or state.....but they watch. -

I don't care how many times a lineup sees a pitcher. If he is mowing them down and his pitch count isn't too high, I leave him in. Probably why I'm not coaching the Longhorns. Hook 'Em!!! -

Most pitchers would have been rattled by such a quick HR. This sophomore came back and struck out the next two....one looking. Great hit by LSU though. -
Bullets, the top ten finish came to Tiger. He only shot -1 the final day. So much for making his move. The rest of the field fell apart, which is usually the case too.

Texas played 31 home and 18 away LSU played 28 home and 12 away. What's the point? i don't see the argument of turf being like sand, when most of the infields in the baselines is crushed cinder everywhere you go. If you are insinuating that Texas had an unfair advantage playing on their field, I disagree. It's the same for both teams isn't it? Kinda like playing football in the mud? -

Ok, I'll give you a break. Turf is like sand?? What were the other stadiums like that we played in? -

Only if they played every freakin game there. I wasn't aware that we were that much bigger, but bigger stadiums only cut down on HRs...not hits. -

Should be a good one. Didn't Texas beat the 2nd best pitcher in the country (Leake) twice? Sophomores and Freshmen taking the mound for Texas. Gotta love it! THROWN INTO THE FIRE Where Texas ranks in several key NCAA pitching stats this season: Category Total Rank ERA 2.84 2nd Hits* 7.34 1st Strikeouts* 8.0 41st Walks* 2.63 9th *Per 9 innings -
Crap, I missed it. What happened to Barnes? Did he fall apart? Good post BTW Lazeek. I agree with not making excuses. What happens, happens.

This course is very unforgiving. The primary cut of rough, usually you can't see the ball. This course, you can't see your feet.

MLB is not as exciting as this. It's obvious the two best teams are playing for the title. That's the way it should be. Either team can win it...should be a dandy. Hook 'Em!!! -
If Jim Furyk could make a short putt......yeah I know.....I'll take Furyk. Lazeek, aren't you also an expert on the proper way to retrieve your ball from a water hazard? ;D

UT/Arizona St Game Thread HORNS WIN 10-6!!!
baddog replied to bullets13's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Yeah, I posted that bracket on another thread, but it is updated since that time. Rather than having small ball not showing confidence in your hitters, I believe it shows confidence in your pitching. Just trying to generate one or two runs for your pitchers not only relaxes them, but it also shows that your coaches know they can get the job done. Sorry you think it is boring. It is more calculating for me.....make the other guy think. You're not a UT fan? -

Joes, also for the record, I didn't call anyone out on this one. They know who they are. Texas is my team and I totally respect LSU. One more win for each and we (UT/LSU) play 3 games for the title, correct? I had my crow as soon as I got to work (I posted above). Texas can hit better than I gave them credit for. Rupp needed to redeem himself for those runs he allowed. How did he miss that pitchout? I saw that. It takes a big man to eat his crow. The thing is, Texas hits the ball much better than a lot of people give them credit. You don't score 94 runs in the last 12 games with just small ball. Texas has been hitting a few HRs, doubles, singles, bunting people over, walking, doing everything it take to produce runs. Just because we are not a 5HR per game team, doesn't mean we are not effective with our play. I would like to see the LOB stat for Texas vs. ASU. My paper doesn't have it. Texas also tagged Leake, the 2nd best pitcher in the country, for 6 hits and 6 earned runs. Like I have said before, whatever it take to win is what I like, whether it suits someone else's taste or not. -

Yeah, but Rupp was trying to bunt, he just hit 'em a tad too hard. Just a little sarcasm for the non-believers. -

Texas had 15 hits (14 bunts :) Both starting pitchers were yanked earlier than they had been all year, one (Ruffin) the earliest of his career. Ah, the pressures of the CWS. Then Texas throws a freshman (Jungman) in there and he kills ASU. Texas used two pitchers while ASU used five. It was just luck. I can't believe the #1 seed won that game. : Hook 'Em !!
