  1. I guess I'll have to break the bad news the bears. They might as well leave the bus in park, seeing that they don't even have a reason to show up Monday for a game that they can't win. I'll have to tell Barry, Cloeren, Johnson, who are all batting .400+ along Leger, Thompson, and Brown with the rest of the bears to leave the game cleats in their bags and to worry about practice, because no one is giving them a chance to win this game. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. ;D Actually, I think this one will be a nail-biter.....like 2-1.
  2. Shilling didn't play well for the Stros. Who could have guessed? You're right, Ryan was not a trade, the Stros just didn't want to pay him a million bucks.......duh....Nolan Ryan?? Rizon got the Beltran thing right. The Stros threw about 17.5 million per season at him and he went to NY for 18, if I remember correctly. At least that's close to the figures.
  3. No area baseball team could beat the Astros.....not even close.
  4. You're right, it doesn't matter who starts, that's why I say let Dean do the job. He would have started, had we played Friday, so why change simply because of a postponement? To me, it's a confidence thing. Like I said, maybe that's why I'm not the coach.
  5. I don't know if this is the worst trade for the Stros, but the 12 player deal with Caminitti, Finley and Co. to SD, for Brocail and other players, seems to be one I remember. Luis Gonzalez to Chicago, then failing to resign him on his return......ouch.
  6. One would think Bellow huh Dean is a very capable pitcher and who was slated anyway. I'd give Bellow a rest and see what happens. Maybe this is why I don't coach high school baseball.
  7. Campbell chokes the big one. Oh well, let's here it for the old guys!!!!!! Cabrera looks older than Perry. Tiger needs to take tree shot lessons from Cabrera. :
  8. El Chocko. Just had to play par and win on 17 and 18, but he couldn't do that. I picked Campbell anyway.....Texas boy!!!!!
  9. Tiger's tree shot reminded me of several of mine at Tyrell Park. I had to duck mine though. ;D Nice to see an old guy win.
  10. Players are paired by first in last out. So if there are 10 guys at 4 under the first ones to post 4 under will be the last of that group to tee off. Thanks. This tournament is getting interesting. Perry can't expect to win playing par golf. He has to make a birdie or two to counter the charge by Tiger and Phil. Campbell still in the hunt.
  11. Seve Ballesteros.....what a class act! With all of his missed opportunities to win at the Masters, I never once saw him throw a club. He played with charisma. He is certainly missed already.
  12. Lazeek, it's easy to figure the pairings for the top two leaders, but what happens at the log jam of players tied at 4 under. Do they draw names? If the winds are favorable, I like Campbell's chances as well as Furyk.
  13. I didn't know them older guys could play competitive golf. : Perry and Cabrera paired in the final round. Will Mickelson and Tiger play together, or will Tiger get someone like Kim? It will be nice to see the dedication to Seve Ballesteros who is suffering from brain cancer. What a great player he is.
  14. No confusion here except for the need to repeat your negative side. China's Wal Mart and ex-Conns left for the greener pastures of PA and less taxes. China's Wal Mart to build a super store. The only thing super is the size. I personally never shopped at either and still don't, but Ned. misses their tax base....of course. Circuit City built a new store in the Ned. area....Hmmmmmm. My last post on this subject. Still no answers to any of my above questions.
  15. smitty, get a life dude. Everyone already knows your stance. It has now become a rant and losing any punch it may have had. In fact, you quoted my post and answered absolutely nothing. Good job. Circuit City had no problem coming here. Not enough room in Ned. to build a huge mall....maybe Beauxart Garden could have handled a small strip mall, but it seems to be out of the picture now as development for a gated community has already started. The PNG comment was a joke. Even PNG people can see that. Everyone can't have everything all at once. Some things take time, plus field upgrading was buzzing with the building of the new scoreboard.
  16. Who on here has any knowledge of what property owners of apartment complexes and trailer parks pay towards school taxes? I'm sure it's nowhere near what a single family unit property owner has to deal with. I think apartment and trailer dwellers should have to cough up something, in addition to what their property owner pays, towards school taxes to help with my burden. I am tired of footing the bill for others. I am being penalized for owning property. I know the buildings need upgrading, but please don't tell me that kids can't learn in old buildings. I guess Harvard needs razing. I don't have all the figures for rebuilding as opposed to upgrading, but I do understand that it is sometimes better moneywise, to start afresh. I will probably vote in favor of the bond mainly for the field turf and press box.....just to ''keep up with PNG''. ;D We all know smitty must live under a bridge.
  17. Yep, Jack playing on one leg couldn't have whipped his competition. He had to be 100% every week. You're learning. Thanks!! Isn't it funny how much some people take from a post? Just what fits their agenda. Wow, I forgot. Your opinion is the only one that counts. Anything straying from that line of thought is a ''spin''. Why do you think that we believe our opinion is the only one that counts??? I think your opinion counts. I respect your opinion but I disagree with it. Is that ok? Cool. I respect every opinion on here. I just don't want my view referred to as a spin. It makes it seem that mine doesn't matter or that I don't know what I am talking about. I have watched golf all my life, and I even like Tiger. Maybe I just don't want to see the idols of my day surpassed. That's difficult for anyone, I suspect. I still hold my position on the competitive edge.
  18. Yep, Jack playing on one leg couldn't have whipped his competition. He had to be 100% every week. You're learning. Thanks!! Isn't it funny how much some people take from a post? 19. UNC is hitting a high % and Michigan St. is turning the ball over and shooting air balls.....a formula for an arse whipping which is what we have so far.
  20. UNC 38-18. I'm not sure what it is that Michigan St. is playing....it sure ain't basketball.
  21. Wow Wow, a thread addressed to me. I feel special. I think all of us can ''chew'' on this post I quoted by NDN. He states his mind without sarcasm or attitude. I agree with most of what he said, except that I still think Jack is better. Only time will tell how Tiger's competition plays out. Right now, I think it is lagging behind Jack's. However, I like what you said NDN. It makes sense.
  22. Watching Stroud play today.....nice up and down from the bunker. Looks like he has a PING hat on with the ''I'' scratched out.
  23. I was pretty sure you would try to spin it your way. You choose to interpret it the wrong way. What it means is Besides the top 5 guys in the 70's no one else won because they simply were not as good as todays players. It just is not even close. That is fine. It is your opinion and I respect that. However, it is simple another senior just not wanting to admit that a young black man has taken over the game of golf and that this generation is far and above generations of the past. You will see the light soon! Dude, there were more than 5 guys!!....which has always been my point. Look at the lists, and that's just the majors, then get back to me. Thanks for the respect, then you shoot me down. Which is it? I have never mentioned race. Must be your spin.
  24. Gee spinks, as bright a guy as you seem to be, I think you have proven my point even further. You said this... ''It basically means that whereas in Nicklaus’ era the top few players in the world won a significant number of PGA Tour events, in Tiger Woods' era there is far more parity which can be statistically seen in the lower percentage of events won by the top five golfers in the world.'' I have to counter with not so much parity, as the top five aren't as good, and Tiger is taking more titles because of it. This argument is like whether the glass is half full or empty. You brought up some good stats, now look at the list of past major winners and you will see a repetition of names alright.....more than the few you mentioned for sure though.....and that's just the majors. Really, you left out so many name it ain't even funny. Please look at the list of past winners. My opinions can only play out as the years go by. Lots of you have said you liked Jack and have changed your minds. It is simply that I haven't. It still does not make me wrong.
