  1. Sam came back to win their game 6-5 in 12 innings. Lamar could still get the top seed in the Southwest Division if they win Saturday's game and Sam loses. Currently Lamar would still be playing Seattle U in the first game of the tournament. If they get the top seed they would face New Mexico State.
  2. Lamar with 12 hits and lots of stranded runners but score enough to get the victory. Guess who (Jack Dallas) gets his 12th save. The win clinches at least 2nd place for Lamar Currently ACU is leading Sam 5-2 in the 10th inning. If that score holds then a Lamar win tomorrow would clinch top seed. Will update later.
  3. Correction on tournament: Evidently, California Baptist and Dixie State are not tournament eligible so if season ended with current standing Lamar would play Seattle U. Still a lot of possibilities even with only two games remaining.
  4. Lamar squeaks by in 10 innings. Jack Dallas gets the win. Lamar sits as the second seed in the Southwest Division standing two ahead of UTRGV and one behind Sam with two games to play. Game 2 Friday at 6 pm. If season ended with current standings Lamar would play Sacramento State in first round of WAC tournament.
  5. Lamar wins 7-4 Lamar had 12 hits and no errors. Jack Dallas with his 11th save. Next weekend hosting Tarleton.
  6. Lamar wins 9-5. Tonight 14 hits and no errors. Earlier SAM beat UTRGV. Lamar now trails SAM by two games and is 1 game ahead of UTRGV and 3 games ahead of ACU with 4 games left to play.
  7. Lamar leads 6-2 after 6 innings. After falling behind 2-1 in the 4th inning Lamar struck back for 2 runs in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to hold their current lead.
  8. Lamar leads 1-0 after 3 innings. Weather problems again today. Sorry I am unable to eat the headers later to reflect final scores.
  9. Lamar wins 17-9. 20 hits and no errors tonight.
  10. Lamar off to an 8-0 lead after 3 innings. Game was delayed by lightning storm.
  11. I would say volleyball was the worst (forever since even a winning season) Softball next (terrible teams not even competitive since Bruder was fired) Football consistently horrible and non-competitive Basketball was decent during Tic Price era - not great - but usually decent but this year was a horrible year. You didn't ask but Women's Basketball also mediocre since Harmony left and of course baseball mostly mediocre seasons under the Davis era.
  12. I thought of this as well although a different person that had played for Lamar. Maybe with a new AD you feel a little more comfortable because you would be their hire. Just too much chaos with the whole Lamar athletic department - not to mention each individual program - to want to give up a secure job you know is going well. Whoever takes over the Lamar program is pretty much back to building a program from scratch.
  13. Anybody heard any word on this? It has been two months and all is awfully quiet. Time for some shakeups in our athletic department.
  14. Utah Valley eliminates Lamar 9-5 in WAC softball tournament.
  15. Lamar 10 Southern 1 FINAL Weekend series next at Abilene Christian
  16. Speaking of pitching I did a little research. Our two main starters Wheaton and Douthit have started 23 of the 48 games this year and are the top two as far as innings pitched. Only two other pitchers have started more than 5 games this season (Ekness and Morse). The pitcher with the third most innings pitched is reliever Jack Dallas. Our overall ERA is about 4.31 but runs allowed per game is closer to 5.5. This reflects all the errors I have constantly mentioned. The defense is putting extra strain on an already thin staff. When you get to these tournaments you will be in a ton of innings over a day or two. With so few pitchers that have been depended on it's tough to see making a deep run in the tournament.
  17. Lamar plays Utah Valley on May 11 at 10 am in a single elimination game in the WAC tournament. The winner moves to the double elimination portion against Abilene Christian at 4 pm May 11.
  18. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the 7th Lamar scored four runs to take a 5-2. Starting pitcher Adam Wheaton pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up the two runs (only one earned) as again the defense committed two errors. Jack Dallas pitched the final 1 1/3 to earn another save. Rubber game of the series Sunday at 1 pm.
