  1. After nightmare loss last night, miracle win today. Not sure what to think of Astros right now. Pitching looks pretty worn even though Javier was a little better today than his last outings. Bullpen exhausted.
  2. I can't stand the national broadcasts either. I usually watch the video and listen to the Astros radio broadcast even though it is not in sync.
  3. Astros came through Friday night with a 7-5 win. Pitching is starting to leak oil pretty bad. Waiting for some of our players to come off the injured list and see what all the teams do by the trade deadline.
  4. Yep if he didn't get out of that jam we probably would have been swept in this series. Offense only scored 6 runs on 19 hits in four games. Pitching not that bad except for Friday. No offense puts a lot of pressure on our pitchers. Hopefully, Altuve and Alvarez are back soon and that should aid the offense. At this point, two games behind going into the all-star break actually feels like a positive.
  5. That's a typical Blanco outing. He has given up two home runs his last five outings and he's a little wild too. Still he only gave up three runs...Astros just couldn't do anything offensively except Julks. Face Castillo tomorrow another pretty tough pitcher. Wish they would bench Maldonado and let Diaz play on the field and use another better hitter to DH. Dusty won't do that though.
  6. Ronel Blanco was recalled from Triple A and will start tonight. Not sure how that works thought you had to be down 15 days before you could be recalled. Altuve back to IL.
  7. Starter for Thursday still to be announced. They are really having trouble right now keeping enough starters especially with Javier's problem unknown. Hopefully after all star break Urquidy comes back to eat up some innings, they get Javier fixed, and they do a trade for a decent starter or at least somebody that can eat up some innings.
  8. Astros blow an 8 run lead and fall behind only to score 2 in the 9th to take the win 12-11. WOW
  9. yep very disappointing season has ended. totally lackluster effort with four errors on defense.
  10. runners 2nd and 3rd with no outs and still can't score...sad.
  11. Yes, since 2017 they are 0-4 in the SLC tournament. They did manage to win their first round game in the WAC last year and finished 1-2 there.
  12. That was originally known as the "Lamar rule". Lamar baseball and basketball were so good in the late 70s and early 80s that Lamar finished first in the conference standings almost every year. So the SLC joined the bigger conferences with the tournament to try to keep Lamar from getting the bid every year.
  13. darn my seedings came out correctly on that Northwestern. Lamar couldn't have asked for a better day today. It really all depends who plays well next week. I think any of the teams could win the tournament. Actually, I expected much more out of this season as well especially from the bats. So I have not been happy with a lot of the outcomes myself.
  14. I think they look at their record against the highest seed until one or more are separated. So they would look at Nicholls, UIW, Lamar. Northwestern is 2-1 versus Nicholls and the other two are 1-2 so Northwestern would be the higher seed. Then I think the next seed would be determined by the head to head between McNeese and Northwestern. That would be the single elimination game. Of course who knows I the Southland site is not so good.
  15. LOL Southeastern won and UIW also threatening to add on in the 9th.
  16. LOL oh the ups and downs. If Southeastern and UIW would win Lamar would be in a tie with New Orleans for 3rd and we own the tiebreaker with them... and Southeastern has tied now 6-6.
  17. yeppers following. Southeastern gave up that nice lead to Northwestern. New Orleans already 10 run ruled Nicholls. Hard to figure from week to week. Just don't want to get the single elimination game. So go UIW CARDINGALS !!!
  18. Well Lamar does their part winning 9-5. Current other game going most our way is Southeastern leading Northwestern 4-1 in the 6th inning.
  19. OK two runs in the 5th so taking a 6-3 lead into the sixth inning.
  20. just blew a golden opportunity to add some runs in the 4th. I'm with @spidersal on this....think our pitching needs as many runs as possible to hang on. Maybe they will prove me wrong.
  21. Agree on your calculation but don't know if my trying to interpret the tiebreaker is correct. First, we need to win today and in the 4th inning we are looking pretty shaky. Anyway if we win and at least one of the teams we are currently tied with loses we get no worse than 5th seed. However, if we win and all the teams we are currently tied with also win we would get that 5 team tie I joked about yesterday. Then head to head between the five would be this: AMCC 8-4 Northwestern 7-5 Lamar, New Orleans, and UIW 5-7. At that point i am assuming you give AMCC and Northwestern the 2 and 3 seed. Then you would check Lamar, NO, and UIW record against each other and it would be 3-3. So then i go to record against highest seeds and both New Orleans and UIW are 2-1 versus Nicholls while Lamar is 1-2 so they would get the 4 and 5 seed and Lamar would be 6th.
  22. Yes, and then if those 4 tied teams all win tomorrow it would be a five way tie including UIW. So I'll be waiting for your presentation of all the tiebreaker possibilities later tonight.
  23. I liked last year's format in the SLC. The top two teams were rewarded with a 4 team elimination at home to try to reach the finals. Then the remaining best team got the championship at their field. It gives the best teams during the season a little better odds of following through in the tournament. Under current format this will always give McNeese a bit of an advantage. The other teams receive no advantage other than playing a lower seed in their first round game. Still a ton of scenarios left for the seedings even with two games left but yours will work. We just need to take care of our own business by winning our final two.
  24. Well Tuesday night victory against UTRGV by a score of 10-4. Close out the regular season against HCU on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. This will finally determine if we make the conference tournament and if so what position we will occupy.
  25. Augusta is in the Southland for golf only otherwise they are in Division II Peach Belt Conference. Both the men and the women won the Southland Golf tournaments. The woman are going to make an appearance in the NCAA Championships.
