  1. No I haven't. It may start in the offseason, but it must be maintained. You cannot duplicate the game in the offseason. Every coach in the world will say that there is a need for stamina in the game. Coaches do what they have to do to accomplish the goal.
  2. He did say that the score is usually 50 - 0 at halftime. By the start of the 4th, all starters are removed. You cannot expect the 2nd & 3rd string players to lay down. They trying to prove themselves. If you listen to his reasoning behind playing 3 quarters instead of 2 - stamina in the playoffs - you can understand the why.
  3. I remembered the dropping down in division. I always believed that was nitrous for your program. I knew you were competitive because we played you. Yates was a beast in the 80's. There was some NFL players on that team. You shared more detail than outsiders had been privy to. I still believe you could compete in 6A at least on a local level. WOS dominance then and now (30+ yrs) is the reason I believe you are the premier football powerhouse in the area.
  4. Do you remember what happened to jump start the Mustangs playoff roll in the 80's?
  5. Kevin Smith used to guard Jerry Rice 1-on-1. He was outstanding.
  6. Bubba Smith Position: Defensive end High school: Charlton-Pollard (Beaumont, Texas) College: Michigan State NFL Draft: 1967 / Round: 1 / Pick: 1 Career history Baltimore Colts (1967–1972) Oakland Raiders (1973–1974) Houston Oilers (1975–1976) Career highlights and awards Super Bowl champion (V) NFL champion (1968) 2× Pro Bowl (1970, 1971) First-team All-Pro (1971) 2× Second-team All-Pro (1968, 1970) UPI Lineman of the Year (1966) 2× Consensus All-American (1965, 1966) No. 95 retired by Michigan State Spartans
  7. Ceasar played varsity as a freshman although he was on the depth chart. He played more linebacker as a freshman. I think he is the best back in the area. He is most dangerous in open space. EC running back duo compliment each other. When both are on the field, the ball moves really fast.
  8. Rodkale is not his older brother. His older brother already graduated, but the brothers do look alike. He did move from Bmt, but he's been there since his freshman year.
  9. Ernest Ceasar at East Chambers. Been doing it on varsity for awhile.
  10. That's one school. I said BISD. Lookup the district's past reputation for football.
  11. I agree that BISD puts very little thought into hiring football coaches. If you look at the reputation BISD had in the past in regards to talent versus now. We used to be a "must stop" for recruiters. Now we are a "drive-by" destination. PA does a better job.
  12. Not only have you never even come close to having a fraction of the talent, you have never played teams with that kind of talent. We compete against teams with the same talent level. BC is good at what they do on their level. Every coach says "if I had talent. . ." Very few schools came move up and be competitive. WOS being the exception.
  13. Don't know what to think about this hiring. I'm not impressed. Gonna have to give him a chance though. It reminds me of the way they hired Central coaches (through the homeboy network). Based on BU history, he can only go up. Time will tell. BISD used coaches that weren't full time employees. In the past there were pt coaches used at the high school level (check the news) and there are some current volunteer coaches at middle school.
  14. I don't know why people underestimating PA. Did they expose someones coaching short comings? Did they make someones son look like a first year player? They were prevented from playing in that league for a reason. Step your game up!
  15. Before everybody start talking too much about Central greats, I suggest that you go look at the first class of Central. From a recruiting standpoint, there has not been a greater class. Do your research!
  16. I agree with most people on here. It's all or nothing with me. You either take it all or stay away. There are private schools and programs that would take you with willing arms. I know most public programs would jump at a chance to take a student if he was a beast, but what would they do if he was a bench rider? If you want to go home, stay home.
  17. They are allowed to play sports. They don't play for public schools. There is a "school building" for home schooled kids here in Bmt where they come together and do various activities that require interaction such as intramural sports. In San Antonio they have actual football teams that compete in the private school sector along with bands and other sports.
  18. They watered the district down when they started letting every body go to the playoffs. What happened to the winner and the runner up? They giving out green ribbons and bubblegum during the season. We better watch out. Pretty soon all our kids will catch is the ice cream truck.
  19. I don't have nothing but love for the man. He tried to do a lot for the kids. I know there are several kids on that team who were penitentiary bound. A few who I brought to his attention myself. He invested a lot of time and effort away from school in them. Everybody might not like him but I know his heart was in the right place. I wish him the best. Coach Nelson was up against some of the same things at Ozen. He was going that extra mile when they railroaded him. I hope he get the Central job. I've been saying that BISD's AD cultivated a culture where coaches would rather take a pay cut than stay in the district. If you look at, all head coaches try to leave the district fairly quick.
