By weaker schedule I was referring to the district schedule for SOC, these were non-district games. And I respect that both teams played against larger and tough teams to help expose their weaknesses before the district schedule started.
-
And Nederland beat PNG 24-21 while Texas beat Nederland 56-14, then Texas got beat by PNG 31-28….PNG vs SOC will be the game of the week for sure

I think it will be a close game. If it comes down to a 1 score game, PNG has the most outcomes with a win. SOC had a weaker schedule, not counting their non-district games, making them look better than they are, but not saying that they aren’t a powerhouse. And their big wins over subpar teams make them overconfident. No doubt, though, we are in the toughest region in 5A D2. One other thing that the Indians have in their arsenal that most other teams don’t is the fans willing to travel long distances filling our side and bringing the noise and dreadful “tomahawk chop”…the 12th man!

Well their def stopped PAM in the second half, so yeah, they can stop Ned offense too. Or do you think Nederland has a better offense than PA? -

I meant PAM
-
Vidor’s best defense will be Memorial’s penalties due to lack of discipline. They will play with a lot of intensity because they want revenge, thus they will commit lots of mistakes. They can say other teams bring the refs, but the stats from every game are out there. They haven’t played one game where the didn’t have less than 4 penalties. Hell, they had 10 just against Ozen (which is not a Mid-county team). They are good enough to play with less intensity, not get penalized and still win by a lot, but they won’t play that way. And yes, some teams do get away with not getting called on some plays, including PA, but you can’t say it’s biased because one team gets penalized more than the other, it’s just that the other team was more disciplined in that game. I see PA winning 35-21, but hoping for a Vidor win, just in case Nederland pulls out a win against the Indians

Coaches get together to decide on time and location, depending on what’s available. They can do a coin flip if they want to decide home field advantage if they want, which being from PNG, I wish they would because they bring the fans no matter where they play. The home team doesn’t decide they location unless they have a neutral site agreed to
-
They want the win because they want a chance at the district title and are hoping for a Nederland win

Anyone have any idea what the numbers will be for 5A D1 & D2? -
Just joking, don’t get upset people. I’m from mid-county
-
Sounds like Raiders borrowed the mid-county refs, lol!

Or maybe those teams play just play with a lot of intensity. They play hard and fast and can’t control their mistakes. Like the defender that runs up to the line of scrimmage as the ball is being snapped. Sometimes he times it just right and sometimes he gets called offside, which in high school it’s almost always offsides. Hell, even NFL players get it wrong sometimes. The high school players and teams that play with that kind of intensity on offense and defense and are VERY disciplined are usually ranked in the top five in the state. And I think the more intense that these guys play, they are watched a little closer by the refs. And yeah, they are going to miss some penalties and when guys are playing hard and fast they are goin to make mistakes and get caught. The faster you play the more likely you are to make a mistake -
