I don’t agree with you. Most voters oppose the school voucher program here in Texas, but the local leadership of the Republican Party made sure that any candidate who opposed the vouchers got an opponent, and the local party leadership rallied around the candidate who supported vouchers… we’ve never seen local party leadership at sitting local rep like this area went after Dade Phelan last fall. The local party went as far as censuring him. How does that even happen? They’re out of control ideologues. They literally pick the most extreme candidate other because he/she most closely aligns with their own radical beliefs. To put it frankly, moderates don’t feel strongly enough about moderate stands on issues to devote their lives to fighting for the middle. Extremists do. Most of us here are more interested politically than 97% of the population. And we’re not interested enough to get involved locally. Those people who DO care enough to attend meetings, etc… are just mean, hateful people who devote their lives to fighting “the other guys,” whether they be of the the same party or not. And they’re the ones who pick the candidates we vote for. You seem level headed. Go down to your local Republican Party meeting and tell them how you feel… you’ll be a dirty RINO in minutes.

The problem is that the most hardcore extremists are who populate the local party machines. The masses don’t pick the candidates that we vote on in the fall…. The whackjobs who actually vote in the primaries keep selecting the most extreme candidates on both sides of the aisle. Normal people don’t spend time on message boards engaging in political discourse… but with the exception of Reagan, I don’t sense the type of dedication from any of yall that would indicate a willingness to participate in the local party from either side. The truth is that most people don’t vote general elections. And only a fraction of that fraction also vote in the primaries where general elections candidates are chosen. The candidates are handpicked by the most fervent ideologues among us, and it shows by the way we keep getting dog crap candidates like Trump. And it was worse than that when the Ds circumvented their primary voters to pick VP Harris to run against Trump in 24. We need to wrestle control of the parties from the whackos or the American Experiment is over. Who am I kidding? It’s already over. We’re just waiting on the credits to roll.

From a 2002 article about Epstein that quoted Trump himself. “Epstein likes to tell people that he’s a loner, a man who’s never touched alcohol or drugs, and one whose nightlife is far from energetic. And yet if you talk to Donald Trump, a different Epstein emerges. “I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump booms from a speakerphone. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.” [Hidden Content] Isn’t ironic that Epstein’s buddy who mentioned Epstein’s love for young women 20 years ago is the same exact guy who’s telling us “there’s nothing to see here?”

I just think it’s comical that yall support the candidate that most closely aligns with your personal beliefs. I guess yall believe in the protecting pedophiles from being exposed. Not shocking since yall already overlooked philandering and sexual assaults. It’s the next logical step. “We don’t want them trans people in our schools! We must protect the kids!” Closely followed by: ”We don’t want those pedophiles exposed!! It could harm their reputations and chances of re-election!”

In general. “Good Christians” rally behind a man with the morals of an alley cat. The First Lady has nudes on the web… not the dem First Lady, the conservative/Christian/right-wing/Republican/straight/white one. You know, the one that Trump cheated on with a legit porn star. The most foul-mouthed President we’ve ever had? Why, he was sent here by GAWD HIMSELF to save us from democrats and those dirty Mexicans, right? So we can overlook all of that. Everybody was crying about Burisma, etc… but will look the other way when Trump makes 600 million off of his crypto scheme within 6 months of taking office. The “conservatives” just voted to add more to our debt that we spent during COVID- that’s not very conservative at all. The Dems are just as bad or worse… but that’s not an excuse to forsake our values.

Corruption. Neither side can claim the moral high ground. Neither is even a smidge more ethical than the other. That’s what makes it all so laughable. “But those ______s are the bad guys!” No, they ALL have no decency- and we’re all to blame for electing them simply because they use really good insults or whatever. Rs are just as dirty as Ds. So much for “Drain the Swamp,” huh?

My son came to live with me when he was two years old. His mom was supposed to pay $126/month…. Supposed to, lol. -

It’s math. We had massive tax cuts in 2017, then the debt exploded. But since it had the opposite effect last time (increased debt, NOT economic growth that would solve the debt problem), the solution is to keep those cuts in place, and cut even more? It’s like giving my first wife a credit card. At some point we’ve got to realize that we simply aren’t paying enough in taxes to pay for all of the things that we want. So you’re going to have to decide whether to go up on taxes or give up your freebies. You know what’s funny? Nobody ever says “I receive this benefit… I think we can prune that program back.” It’s always “we need to make our cuts over THERE… that program from which I receive no benefit.” That’s my question for you all… what program that you support (or from which you receive, or have received a benefit) do you feel could sustain budget cuts? -

[Hidden Content] Yeah… better hope you’ve checked out by 2033 or expect to see those benefits automatically cut by 23%. We’re running a deficit on SS spending since 2021. The trust fund runs out and then cuts happen. Why not take 5% cut now that enables more people to draw for longer? -

I hear you, and I think that my opinion might change if I were closer to retirement. But the sad truth is that the money that you paid in was wasted. It’s not there anymore. The boomer mentality of “as long as I get mine, I couldn’t care less about what happens to those behind me” is appalling. It’s like those people who are like “but if I got a job, I’d lose my Medicaid.” The Social contract with America has destroyed the American ideas.
