Roe versus Wade draft seems to overturn
CardinalBacker replied to thetragichippy's topic in Political Forum
The same people complaining about abortions are the same ones complaining about people having kids for the government handouts. Literally the poor (and particularly the minority poor) just can't catch a break from the right. -

Those same suburban women who voted Biden because Trump was so appalling are gonna line up and vote Democrat again because the Republicans are focused on imposing religious view on people who aren't necessarily Christian instead of focusing on the real problems at hand... like the economy. Sometimes it's embarrassing how stupid the ultra conservatives can be. They're literally making the election cycle about religious issues when they could kill the Dems by staying focused on the economy. -

I beg to differ... if a convicted murder turns his life over to Christ and is born again, he/she is innocent in God's eyes. -

Interesting observation. There was a documented drop in violent crime in the 1990s. [Hidden Content] Do any of y'all wonder if the drop in violent crime that came roughly 18 years after Roe v Wade had a lot more to do with a generation of unwanted kids who never became criminals because they were aborted? Those women who don't want to give birth won't change gears and become good moms because we force them to go through with their child birth. -

BUT keeping people in poverty guarantees votes for the Dems.... so there's that. The Democrats HATE the idea of the races getting along and living a decent middle-class lifestyle. Nobody would vote for them. -

He literally said "Ending a life is ending a life. Dice it up any way you want." Isn't capital punishment ending a life? -

Same question for you... do you also oppose capital punishment? -

So what about convicted murders on death row who give their hearts to Christ? I take it that you vehemently oppose capital punishment? -

I hate that for you. I had similar arguments over my son but luckily I prevailed... raised him myself. Wouldn't trade him for the world. -

Yeah, but they also expected there to be a separation of church and state. Nobody wanted a "church of England" over here. The whole thing is you have to find a balance. Christians believe in paying tithes. Should the government seize 10% of your gross income to give to churches? It's ordered in the Bible, after all. Slavery was illegal right up until it wasn't. It took the 13th Amendment, not the Civil War to finally end the practice in the US. It would be really simple to outlaw abortion through the same procedure- A constitutional Amendment banning abortion or allowing it... except neither side has the votes to do so... never have, never will. -

It's very distasteful, no doubt. I can't imagine what I'd do if faced with that situation. God bless anybody who has been there. But if I'm willing to agree that abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest, are you willing to agree that abortion on demand is immoral and should be punished by law in any instances other than rape/incest/health of mom? The left uses the "rape/incest/health" argument to justify the democratic party plank that calls for "abortion on demand, regardless of a woman's ability to pay." No offense, but that argument is grasping at specific horrible situations to get a pass for abortion for all. Personally I find abortion to be immoral for me. But it has been the law of the land (at least via Roe vs. Wade) since 1973 and I've accepted that. If the Supreme Court does overturn Roe and allow the States to decide on their own, I'm good with that, too. If you want abortion restricted or allowed, select representatives that will vote based on your wishes. But one side (pro life or pro abortion) is going to take an "L" in every single location. What annoys me is that things are lined up for a big R rout in November based on economics and instead the focus is being switched to abortion instead and other social issues like gay marriage... and the ultra conservatives are too stupid to see that they're doing it to themselves. -

I also read where some(?) are calling on legal challenges to same-sex marriages. I'm a little afraid that an outright assault on what most voters consider "rights" is going to be no different than what we see with "woke-ism" that has bogged down the Dems. Long story short, we've got way bigger fish to fry than imposing our religious views on everybody else. -

If it turns out to be true, TVC pretty much nailed it a week or two ago. Personally I’m surprised, but I also think this decision could definitely stall the “red wave” that’s been predicted this November. This is an issue that could motivate otherwise apathetic liberal voters to the polls. If they ever figure out who leaked the draft, my guess is that they’ll be a liberal. -
Does Anyone Care About Property Taxes Here?? 🐑 🐑
CardinalBacker replied to InMAGAWeTrust's topic in Political Forum
It’s out of control local spending, which they in turn blame on “unfunded state mandates” which apparently include new cars/equipment for everybody, buildings purchase to tear down, buses nobody rides, monuments, parks, concert venues, more administrative salaries, turf fields, video score boards, and on and on and on. As far as your taxes at 65, you’ll get a healthy break on your homestead AND the right to defer payment on your homestead if you wish… the balances will pile up and ultimately be due. If you’re paying $15k a year in property taxes, I can only assume that you’re using some of that property to earn income… in that case I don’t really feel sorry about your tax bill. On the other hand, if you’ve invested approximately 3 million dollars into property that ISN’T yielding any income, but still costing you $15k a year in taxes, plus whatever else you spend to maintain it, that’s just a bad business decision on your part and I don’t feel sorry for you this time either. You should have just parked that dough in a mutual fund. No property taxes and no income taxes unless you’re withdrawing funds -

And I’m certain they black kids didn’t learn to hate white people from their parents, leaders, teachers, and “pastors” either. -

Coming from a place of respect.... If the word doesn't bother, as evidenced by your usage of it, BUT it bothers you when a white person says it- you don't have a problem with the word, you have a problem with white people saying the word... that's textbook racial animus, my man. You have to see it for what it is... the word has been "taken" by the black community as their own for the sole purpose of bludgeoning white people with it. Personally, I don't care... but the fact that one person can be invited to the white house after making millions by slinging that word around in rap tunes (Jay-z), while at the same time another person is losing their job, marketing opportunities, etc because they admit that they did use that word back in the '80's (Paula Deen) tells you that you should re-examine every lie that you've ever been told about bias in the United States. Like I said... I think the word is repugnant and the idea that someone would laughingly joke around with it and claim that it was a term of endearment while it was probably the last hateful word heard by people like Emmitt Till is so stupid that it's hard to come up with comparisons. Do Jews laughingly throw up "Heil Hitlers" at each other as a term of endearment? Of course not. -

So you don't have a problem with the word, you just have a problem with white people. It's just that simple. -

That’s where you’re mistaken. It’s widely accepted by black people that whites should buy and play their music, and even go to concerts. But the white person is not allowed to sing the n-word. I’m not even kidding. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] My point remains… if you believe that this group can but that group can’t… you’re a racist. It’s like me dropping F bombs all over the place but being violently angry if I hear a Virgin say it because they have no idea what it means to me. The argument is literally that stupid. Eff bombs are offensive… it doesn’t matter if the speaker has ever had sex. The n-word is either offensive or it’s not. The truth is that black people clearly aren’t bothered by the word… they just hate white people because that’s what they’ve been told to do… in the exact same way that racist white people taught their kids to hate others. -

True story.... I was going to Lamar in the mid nineties and the OJ trial was ongoing. I was watching the news one evening and Marcia Clark was questioning that cop Mark Furman(sp) about if he'd ever used "the n-word." My dumb____ was over there like "N-word? I know the A-word, a couple of B-words, that C-word that women HATE... but I can't think of an "n-word."" I had honestly never heard it called "the n-word" before that. It just was what it was. When I grew up it was an insult as far as I was concerned. Probably worse than dummy but nowhere near an actual swear word. And before anybody starts throwing accusations around, of course I used it back then... just like everybody else. Or at least everybody else from this part of the world. Somewhere along the way I just decided that it's not acceptable for me to use... behind closed doors, in jest, or any other way. It's just not okay. I also try to spread that message and let people know how I feel. Don't say it around me, either, please... you're gonna hear about it. -

For the same reason that the AP capitalizes "Black" and leaves "white" lower cased in all of their news stories. Everything has to torn down so that it can be reset. [Hidden Content] ALL of this nonsense is going to lead to bloodshed, I'm afraid. There's no other explanation for why the left is pushing it so hard. -

Okay, so with which intent am I allowed to say that word? And by "allowed," I mean "for which I will not be accused of a hate crime and lose everything that I've worked for, both tangible and intangible (such as my good name and reputation)." Be specific. If you think that word doesn't have any power, start throwing it around in conversation and see what happens to your world. Unless, of course, you're black. -

If a person believes that their skin color gives them the right to say a word while other people should be punished for using that same word, that person is by definition a racist. EDIT.... If someone believes that their skin color gives them the right to do something that people of other races are punished for, then they are racists. It's not even up for discussion. "My skin color gives me the right to ride in the front of the bus... if you try to ride up here, you'll be arrested." "Your skin color means you can't live in this neighborhood, but I can." "Your skin color means you can't own a home, but I can." "Your skin color means you can't say this word, but I can." All despicable racist thought processes. The fact that punishing people for using this word at an institutional level while glorifying others for using it proves that institutional racism exists at the highest levels in different forms against ALL races... not just blacks. Don't take my arguments to mean that I want permission to use it. I think the word is offensive and anyone that uses it is a racist. -

Anybody who thinks it's okay to use that word is a racist... no matter the color of their skin. If you're white and think that it's okay to insult a person because of their person because of their race... you're a racist. If you're black and believe that the color of your skin gives you the right to say that word while others should be punished for saying it.... you're a racist by definition, too. Those are facts, and they're indisputable. There's no need to argue "a" vs. "er," "there are black people and then there are n-words", " it's a term of endearment among black people," or any other stupid excuses for using slurs or epithets. Anybody that believes it's okay to say it is a racist piece of crap. Period.
